(steve) about two hours ago we learned the victim in a violent carjacking has died. he has been identified as 46- year-old james figueroa junior. this morning a crook stole his truck in san lorenzo... when he tried to stop the thief.. he was run over. the crime happened around 5:30 this morning near the corner of via del sol and via paro. tonight - the criminal is still on the loose. kron4's maureen talked to people who live in the normally quiet neighborhood - they're shocked.

it's the worst thing that ever happened herea normally low key block in this working class neighborhood of san lorenzo.became a crime scene this morning. blocked off with yellow caution tape..the ashplalt littered with evidence markersas deputies collect the clues. it's where the man identified by family and neighbors as james figeroa was about to leave for work this mornign. investigators say he started his truck and went back inside his house.when he came out.he found the suspect in the drivers seat and tried to stop him. a woman who didn't want her face to appear on happen. i saw that the gentleman in the orange shirt running towards the car and at that point the guy hit him with the left side of the car and the guy fell onto the floor and they got the guy in the truck sped offsgt ray kelly says they try to discourage citizens from warming up their vehicles unattended which they see happen more often during the colder months of the year.

that being said a lot of people do it it's not unreasonable you should be allowed to do that in your community and know that you're safe but i'm fortunately in this case of someone took this as an opportunity to steal this truck and the victim went out with that attention to stop it and ultimately became the victim of this violent crimeneighbors say the figueroa grew up in the house and recently moved back home to live with his parents and the youngest of his two children. they are shocked something so violent happened here.scary i got two kids my son wants to play out front a lot this is a really quiet area not a lot of crime happens i'm here yeah we get people that break into cars cars but something like this it's really scary i don't know what to thinkthe alameda county sheriff say it's likely the only person who got a good look at the suspect was the victim so they are asking anyone in this area with surveillance cameras to check their footage at around the time of the crime and report any relavent information. maureen kelly kron4 news. have been arrested in connection to a sexual assault investigation involving a female student from carondelet catholic school in concord.the mount diablo school district confirms that one of the students arrested is from one of their schools. a source tells kron4 the student attends ygnacio valley high school in concord.the other person arrested is a student here at de la salle high school. in fact a number of del la salle students told me that the teenager arrested and is a player on de la salle's football teamdo you think this incident will have an impact of the football program?the alleged sexual assault occurred off campus last month in an unincorporated part of town in walnut creek. that is according to the contra costa county sheriff's office. their detectives received a report about the alleged incident

earlier this week. wednesday the teenage suspects from de la salle and ygnacio valley high school were taken into custody. one de la salle student told me that he feels disappointed and sad because he knows the football player and that the student-athlete had a bright future. that future is in jeopardy right now because the young man is facing a very serious criminal charge. in concord haaziq maydun kron4news (steve) new at 10. a wanted suspect is arrested by deputies...with the help of a trusty k-nine. yesterday deputies spotted 39-year-old thomas williams at his home on northside avenue in redwood city. williams had two outstanding warrants for his arrest...one of which was for a felony weapon's violation. authorities... decided to release their k-nine. however the suspect became violent...at one point actually chocking the dog. deputies were able to control williams and arrested him. (steve) good news tonight for dog owners in the bay area. the national park service is dropping a decade -long fight that would restrict dogs in the golden gate national recreational area. the proposal would have cut about 90-percent of the areas where dog owners are currently allowed to walk their dogs off leash. but a lawsuit filed by dog owners ..... uncovered flaws in the decision- making process and showed bias from park service officials. the national park service then announced that it feels it is inappropriate to move forward with the restrictions.
