appears mike was laying in bed asleep when the fire tore through his home. you can see mike on the left side of your screen and what's left of his home on the right. tonight's event at the cooperage brewing company was private but many of his friends spoke with us saying that won't forget mike. last text on her phone is asking if he's alright and there is no response so just genuine good guy down to earth you know through my wife and everyone around here everyone really like him. he's just a really great person he touched a lot of people probably the nicest man the most genuine man i have ever met in my life. mike's close friends also took donations in his honor tonight. they plan on giving those to the redwood credit union fire relief fund. live in santa rosa, j.r. stone kron 4 news.

(vicki) a little time has passed since the north bay fire erupted... but some victim's staying in their home towns, are still living through their tragedy everyday. kron four's philippe djegal met with a volunteer fire fighter in glen ellen, whose home burned down while she was helping others. (philippe)nats- "pretty small house, but it was cozy." as she walks through what used to be her house on warm springs road... volunteer glen ellen fire fighter kristin johnson talks about how tight-knit this community is.. and, how gracious everyone has been through this difficult time. she says her fourth grade teacher opened up his home to her and her family while they try figure things out. kristin johnson/fire victim- "i pass by it a lot, because i have friends up the road that we go visit. and, um, and, just running errands, and its terrible. i mean, my neighborhood all the way up the road, for a little ways, its just, it's gone." most of what burned in the fire, kristin says, can be

replaced... except for some of her grandmother's antiques that she passed down to her. and, this... this 1977 camero. her husband's prized possession. he tried to get it out the night of the fire... but the battery was dead and the car burned up.nats- "this is my house right here. this is it. i cannot believe this sáát." that's kristin you hear in the video as she passed by her house in a fire engine, watching it go down. she kept working that night, and her crew helped save a few other homes. her husband and three-year-old son made it out in time, and were not injured. kristin's pets survived as well.kristin johnson/fire victim- "i spent many years playing here. uh, i don't think it'll ever look the same ever." but she is determined to stay here in glen ellen. it's where she grew up. she expects the road to recovery will be bumpy... but that's life -- and, she's just grateful she still has one... and, can share it with the rest of her family. in glen ellen, philippe djegal, kron four news.

(steve) people in (steve) people in santa rosa were able to sign up for "debris removal - right of entry forms...." the department of health services is helping people fill out paperwork for the voluntary debris removal program. this will allow the e-p-a to have access to people's property. (steve) we're (steve) we're following breaking news out of the east bay....(vicki) we just learned up to a dozen high school football players have been disciplined for allegedly sexually harrassing a group of girls. the principal of antioch high school says six members of the j-v team made inappropriate or sexually explicit comments monday as the female students walked by the locker rooms. we're told another six students who were not on the team...were also involved. the school says this comes just a week after some players attended a seminar on sexual assault and bullying. today the school announced friday's j-v game versus deer valley high school is canceled. look for at least two more days of warm temperatures with comfortable overnight conditions. modest cooling trend back to normal occurs over the weekend and into early next week as onshore winds return. dry weather

courtroom...... when the defense questioned just how the defendant was taken into custody. a port authority surveillance camera pointed at pier 14 showed when 32 year old kate steinle fell to the ground after being struck in the back by the was from a vantage point much farther away than this shots.and very grainy.the people on film just little dots..but there was an audible gasp in the courthouse when the person identified as kate steinle collapsed.then enhanced video shows video of a splash that the assistant district attorney says was the murder weapon. and a figure .identified as jose garcia zarate seen here in an eariler court appearance scurries off the pier.the defense attorney maintains that the weapon that killed steinle had been wrapped in rags when his

client found it on the pier. he says garcia zarate didn't' know it was a gun and it went off when picked it up. bitea spokesman for the da's office says this case is being built brick by brick and they believe the jury will see the charge of murder is supported by the evidence presented to them. maureen kelly kron4 news. (vicki) for a second time this week, a student in the east bay brought a loaded gun to campus. the latest one happening in san ramon. that's where police say an eight-year-old brought a loaded gun to school. police say last night a twin creeks elementary school student told his parents that he saw áanotherá third grade student in possession of a gun. investigators then contacted the boy's parents at home. then they found the gun in the student's backpack. it was loaded with a magazine of nine millimeter bullets. police say at this time there are no reports of the student threatening anyone. the student has been suspended.

(vicki) and in pleasanton, a student was arrested after police found a loaded gun on him... the arrest happened at village high school monday morning. the student was taken to juvenile hall. investigators are not saying why the student had the gun ... or what they planned to do with it. neighborhood are upset about plans to put a bike sharing station along their street. it's happening in the rockridge neighborhood... a new ford go bike station is scheduled to be installed on friday. kron 4's charles clifford is live for us tonight in oakland with the details. charles. . well, across the bay area there are several bike sharing companies that are letting people rent bikes for a few hours at a time one of the

most biggest companies is ford go bike. they are aggressively expanding here in oakland but neighbors and along one quiet street say they were never told this was happening and they're worried about what it could mean for their neighborhood. natsthis coming friday, ford go bike plans to install one of its bike sharing stations here along shafter avenue in the rockridge area. the new bike rack and payment kiosk will replace two neighborhood parking spaces.sotwe are not really sure why it's going in residential area.anna dair and her family live about two doors down. she says they didn't know this was going to happen. she's not opposed to people riding bikes but she's worried about how this project got approved.soti think in concept the idea is very good. we have a transportation problem in the bay area and bikes are a great solution. the problem we have with this is that we are not sure the proper process was followed. that notice wasn't given to people who would have a rack in front of their house. oakland city councilmember dan kolb represents the rockridge area. he says he has received multiple message from concerned neighbors, but he also says it appears that while ford go bike did follow the rules when it come to public outreach. they probably could have done a better job. sota spokesperson for ford go

bike told kron 4 in a statement wednesday that " "working closely with the oakland department of transportation, we've done extensive community outreach about these stations and canvassed these neighborhoods to talk with residents face-to- face about bringing bike share to their community." beyond how the project was approved, anna and several of her neighbors are also worried that the new racks could have an impact on their quality of lifesotwe have an issue with the look and feel of the bike stations and how it might change the character of our neighborhood and frankly how it might affect the property value of our home which we worked very hard to obtain. now, council member kolb also said today that once the bike station is built how long it will be there will depend on many people actually use the bikes. in oakland, charles clifford kron 4 news.

(vicki) the world's largest cereal maker is redesigning its corn pops cereal boxes... after a complaint that the art is racially insensitive. the controversy is over this game on the back of the kellogg cereal box. the little corn pop characters on it are doing different activities like shopping and playing in the arcade. one twitter user took offense to the only corn pop character with a darker yellow tone cleaning the floors. he commented saying it was "teaching kids racism." in response-- kellogg apologized for the image and says it was updating its artwork. the cereal maker says the new artwork will reach stores soon.

(steve) new at nine... stunning video shows the moment a car barrels through a maryland restaurant. it happened yesterday during the lunch rush at a place called "babes boys tavern." the driver says she was only going 25 miles-per-hour when her brakes went out. authorities say the car was going much faster than that... and she likely lost control going around a corner. ten people were injured in the collision. the owner says the car took out a pillar that supports the roof... and left an eight-foot hole in the building. (steve) uber is riding into the credit card market with a no-fee card... the ride-hailing giant is unveiling a no-fee, co-branded credit card with british bank barclays. the uber visa card will use points and it is designed as a cash-back loyalty program. this means the card will give users two percent cash back if they take a ride in an uber... and four- percent cash back for every dollar spent on dining, including the ubereats. customers will be able to redeem points for uber rides or just have the points converted to cash. (vicki) authorities are investigating an alleged rape that happened on the stanford university campus. it's the third sexual assault reported in less than a month. and it is also a disturbing trend on college campuses across the country. kron 4's rob fladeboe takes a close look at the numbers for three bay area universities. the stanford university department of public safety confirms it is investigating the alleged rape reported just after midnight on monday. a spokesman said victim and suspect are known to each other. police have reportedly investigated at least three other rapes on campus this year. one in each of the months of july, september and october.(graphic)according to statistics compiled through compliance with the jeanne clery disclosure of campus security act, in 2016 there were a total of 45 sexual offenses reported at stanford, including 33 rapes.stanford professor michele dauber, is leading the effort to recall judge aaron persky over what

motion seats... because of a fire hazard. it's the soothing motions seats... and the company says if you own one of them- you should stop using it áááimmediately. the infant seat plays nature sounds and bounces, sways and vibrates to soothe babies. fisher-price has received 36 reports of the motor and overheating -- and one report of a fire. thankfully, no injuries have been reported. and five models are being recalled... (steve) many parents wonder what is the right age to get their child a tablet... and tonight a new report says there has been a dramatic increase in younger kids having their own tablet... that's according to a report from the nonprofit organization, common sense media. they say nearly half of kids aged eight and younger have their own tablet device. that's a sharp increase from 2013, when just seven-percent of young kids had their own device. researchers also found that the amount of time young children spend looking at screens has tripled in the past four years. they say

higly of him wednesday night. paul sheridan's wife was good friends with mike and like everyone else.was desperatly looking for him after the tubbs fire tore through the area.last text on her phone is asking if he's alright and there's no response so.this is what's left of mike's home. the pick up truck out front is about the only recognizable thing there but even that burned in the fire. wednesday night though it was about remembering the good times with mike. patrons packed the parking lot of ths cooperage brewing company. everyone there to eat, drink, and tell stories about a man they won't soon was really awesome
