well, so far there have been multiple cases of students bringing guns to schools across the bay area. here at milpitas high school, students were put on lockdown twice today. around noon on thursday, milpitas high school was put on lockdown following reports of student with a gun on campus. senior chris bui says he was in class when the announcement was made.sotall of a sudden we got the announcement that we are going on lockdown. that we couldn't leave our classroom and turn off the lights and just barricade the door.around 1pm, that lockdown was lifted after police say a student with a gun was found and arrested. why the student was carrying a firearm is still under investigation.just a few hours later, milpitas high went on lockdown for a second time on yet another report of a student with gun. this lockdown was lifted a short time later after it was determined to be a false alarm. bui says the idea of a student on campus with a gun is upsetting but he believes the teachers and staff handled the situations appropriately. sotwe have drills at school for earthquakes, intruders, and so we knew what to do. my teacher knew what to do.also on thursday, a san ramon man was arrested after his 8-year- old son brought a loaded handgun to school at twin creeks elementary. the third grader allegedly showed the gun to a friend. the father in this case, 30 year old anthony o'donnel was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, possession of stolen property and criminal storage of a firearm

(hermela aregawi)a lot of people went home even more confused and frustrated.many of them lost everything.. and want to start moving towards rebuilding as quickly as possible.. but the process is going very slowly for most people.some have been told that they won't have to pay for the clean up..but they don't know how to go about getting that process started. there were representatives from the governor's office of emergency management.. sonoma county department of health services.but it appeared there were more questions than the representatives could answer. people were told to write their questions on the tables so the experts could get them answered at a future date. that frustrated people even more.hundreds if not thousands of people showed up for help and instead went home with packets.they want to know..

county residents are invited to attend a day of remembrance in santa rosa in the wake of the wildfires that are still burning in the county. the event starts eleven a.m. at santa rosa junior college's bailey field on mendocino avenue. the event will include a santa rosa fire department color guard bagpipesand brief choir and musical performances. 23 people in sonoma county died in the fires... which destroyed thousands of homes and businesses. (steve) another big story tonight... the federal agent ... whose stolen gun was used in the murder of kate steinle .. took the witness stand today.(vicki) the 2015 killing of steinle made national headlines and sparked a debate on immigration after the suspect turned out to be an undocumented immigrant who'd already been deported five times. this is video of the federal park ranger entering the courtroom. his government issued semi automatic handgun was stolen out of his parked car a few days before the murder. he told the jury that he was travelling in his personal car with his fiance and three children. they parked

checkpoint with her to get emergency care in corpus christi-- and that's when things got dicey. as stephania jimenez reports now there's a possibility she'll be deported to mexico... a place she hasn't been since she was three-months-old. nats of felipa de la cruz in spanish:translator: "she ignores everything that's happening around her when she realizes her family isn't with her, she's going to start to cry." felipa de la cruz is in agony. federal agents are taking her 10-year-old daughter - rosamaria hernandez, to a detention center in san antonio.nats of felipa de la cruz, mom: translator: "i don't know what they're going to come out with." on top of that, felipa is worried about what rosamaria is feeling. she has cerebral palsy...and doesn't understand what's happening. felipa says her daughter has the mentality of a six-year- old. nats of felipa de la cruz, mom: translator: "she's going to start to get uncomfortable and she may hurt her surgery scars."the situation escalated a few days ago. rosamaria's doctors in laredo sent her to driscoll children's hospital for emergency gall bladder surgery. in order to come to corpus christi, she crossed a border checkpoint. that's where border protection stopped her. border patrol then followed her to the hospital for the surgery.

(steve) it's not just humans who are being impacted by the opioid epidemic sweeping the nation. (vicki) a puppy in massachusetts had to be given a live-saving drug after an accidental overdose last week. peter thibault (tee-bo) was walking his three-month-old puppy zoey. the curious lab got into a cigarette box... and within seconds... the dog keeled over and grew unresponsive. thibault rushed zoey to the veterinary hospital. staff recognized zoey had overdosed... and administered naloxone-- or narcan. that's the drug is used reverse the effects of opioids on humans. thibault says within five minutes zoey was back on her feet. she went home just 12 hours later. the owner says he is relieved that zoey is safe... but concerned that the pup found
