today... jurors will hear more testimony about the weapon used in the murder of kate steinle. this week, a ballistics expert will talk about the gun used in the shooting. jose garcia zarate is charged in the murder. last week, the jury heard from the federal agent whose gun was stolen... and later used to kill steinle two years ago on pier- 14 in san francisco. the defendant claims it was an accident. the trial is expected to last another three weeks. ( terisa ) the man accused of carjacking a man in san lorenzo before running over and killing the victim is set to be arraigned in court today. victor alvarez is being charged with murder and two counts of carjacking. police say the victim... james figueroa tried to stop alvarez from stealing his truck. that is when police say alvarez ran over figueroa. figueroa later died of his injuries. ( terisa ) police say they added more security at california's great america amusement park in the south bay. this after chaos erupted during a halloween

event over the weekend. santa clara say they got reports of fights and thefts happening in the park saturday night. multiple people suffered minor injuries and several cell phones were stolen in the chaos. police confirmed that a taser was used on a person who was trying to steal a cell phone. that person got away. two people were arrested. ( james ) fremont police are on the lookout for this man ... thomas beltran. he was the subject of a nine hour stand-off with police. officers got a call from beltran's girlfriend saying he attacked her and that he was still in the home. police surrounded the house and tried talking to him... but it went know where. and after nine hours of trying, they went inside and discovered he was gone. beltran is considered dangerous... police say he has a violent history and should not be approached. ( james ) a man in san francisco has died in a house fire. it happened yesterday morning. this was the scene when the flames broke out on molimo drive.

one other man was injured. he is expected to survive. firefighters say the home is a total loss. because a man died the police department is leading the investigation. they have not released any information about the victim or how the fire started. ( terisa ) happening now in the east bay ... police are looking for a group of teenagers who may be responsible for a deadly shooting in discovery bay . it happened near the corner wilde and cullen drives....just a half-mile away from timber point school. one man is dead. investigators believe that a group of teenagers were involved in the shooting. witnesses tell police they saw two cars with several young people at the scene. police say the incident started as some kind of neighborhood disturbance but have not provided any details. police do not believe that the shooting was random. ( terisa ) this morning police are looking for the person who stabbed a man near a bart station. the victim has life threatening injuries.

found the stolen truck and the two were caught trying to jump over a fence. the couple is facing more than half dozen felony charges. shooting happened last night. xavier smith was in the garage when the shooting started. he was taken to a nearby hospital... but he didn't make it. police say a 6-year-old boy was also shot in same area. he's expected to be okay. detectives have not identified any suspects or a motive. ( james )(áááboxesááá) lawyers suing m-g-m resorts are expected to have access to the site of the las vegas shooting this week. this will be the first time the lawyers have seen the site since the shooting happened last month. 58 people died and 500 others were injured. lawyers representing one of the people who died won a court order forcing m-g-m to save items linked to the mass shooting. lawyers will also have access to the shooter's room. ( terisa ) bart police are looking for the man who robbed and carjacked a woman at a bart station in the east bay. police say a man walked up to a woman as she was walking away from her car. the woman told police he was holding a large wrench. he grabbed her arm and demanded her purse and keys. the man then got in the car and drove away. the woman was not injured. police have not released a description of the attacker. ( terisa ) and one man is jail this morning after

threatening a bart station agent. it happened at the union city bart station. police have not said exactly how the station agent was threatened. police say the man is prohibited from riding bart. ( james ) a man was killed in a shooting in oakland and the shooter is still on the loose. the shooting happened yesterday morning on eighth street. the victim died at the scene. police have not made any arrests or said what may have motivated the shooting. the killing marks oakland's 59th homicide of the year. ( james ) and police are looking for a gunman after one person was shot in oakland. the shooting happened saturday morning on the 15-hundred block of international boulevard. the victim was shot in the back and is in stable condition this morning. police do not have a description of the shooter.. ( terisa ) hundreds of sonoma county residents came together over the weekend for a day of remembrance for the victims of the north bay fires. to honor those who lost their lives, the santa rosa fire department rang a ceremonial bell for each

district attorney's office cleared four officers in the 20-16 death of robert bowerwho died while in police custody. an autopsy showed that bower died of a methamphetamine overdose. this was part of a report on several officer involved shootings. three officers were also cleared in the death of alice brown... who was shot to death as she was driving in 20-15... investigators say her erratic driving... posed a threat to the public. the report also found that a san francisco police officer should not face criminal charges for shooting to death nicholas flusche back in may. investigators say flusche

was stabbing a subway restaurant employee refused the command to get on the floorprompting that officer to shoot and kill him. the officers were cleared by the district attorney's independent investigations bureau. morning out of washington, d.c. paul manafort has been arrested by the fbi following an investigation into russian meddling in the u-s elections. according to the special counsel... the former trump campaign chairman has been indicted on 12 charges ... including conspiracy against the u-s, money laundering, and other charges.manafort turned himself in to justice department special counsel robert mueller. this is video of him surrendering in washington d-c earlier this morning. manafort was indicted on friday. rick gates has been ordered to surrender to authorities as well. gates is a business associate at manafort's firm. also a former campaign aide to president trump has pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents working for special counsel robert mueller as part of his probe into possible coordination between the trump campaign and russia.

george papadopoulos (pah'-pah-dah-puh-lus) pleaded guilty to one count of lying to fbi agents about the nature of his interactions with "foreign nationals. " about an hour ago president trump tweeted out ... claiming that there is no collusion. looking for the man who robbed and carjacked a woman at a bart station in the east bay. police say a man walked up to a woman as she was walking away from her car at the hayward station. the woman told police he was holding a large wrench. he grabbed her arm and demanded her purse and keys. the man then got in the car and drove away. the woman was not injured. police have not released a description of the attacker. ( terisa ) and one man is jail this morning after threatening a bart station agent. it happened at the union city bart station. police have not said exactly how the station agent was threatened. police say the man is prohibited from riding bart. ( james ) a man was killed in a shooting in oakland and the shooter is still on the loose. the shooting happened yesterday morning on eighth street. the victim died at the scene. police have not made any arrests or said what may have motivated the shooting. the killing

marks oakland's 59th homicide of the year. oakland a's oakland a's catcher bruce maxwell has been arrested after a food delivery driver said he aimed a gun at her. maxwell was arrested saturday at his home in scottsdale, arizona . he is charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. police

say maxwell was held in custody pending an initial court appearance. earlier this year, maxwell became the first and only m-l-b player to kneel in protest against racial injustice during the national anthem. the a's released a statement saying they are disappointed by the allegations. ( james ) one n-f-l team is expanding its protest during the national anthem. nearly the entire houston texans team took a knee during the anthem at yesterday's game in seattle. this came after it was revealed that the teams owner compared n-f-l players to inmates during a recent owner meeting. only 10 players on the texans team decided not to kneel. ( terisa ) the san francisco district attorney's office cleared four officers in the 20-16 death of robert bowerwho died while in police custody. an autopsy showed that bower died of a methamphetamine overdose. this was part of a report on several officer involved shootings. three officers were also cleared in the death

of alice brown... who was shot to death as she was driving in 20-15... investigators say her erratic driving... posed a threat to the public. the report also found that a san francisco police officer should not face criminal charges for shooting to death nicholas flusche back in may. investigators say flusche was stabbing a subway restaurant employee refused the command to get on the floorprompting that officer to shoot and kill him. the officers were cleared by the district attorney's independent investigations bureau. ( james ) police in modesto are investigating a deadly drive-by shooting... the victim was just 5- years-old.( james ) modesto police say the shooting happened night. xavier smith was in the garage when the shooting started. he was taken to a nearby

hospital... but he didn't make it. police say a 6-year-old boy was also shot in same area. he's expected to be okay. detectives have not identified any suspects or a motive. ( terisa ) you can cross one name off the list. los angeles mayor eric garcetti does ánot want to be california's next govenor. garcetti tweeted out his decision yesterday -- saying he wants to keep serving his city. garcetti won a re- election bid in march... but will term out in 20-21. some political experts have suggested he may seek the democratic nomination for president in 20-20. ( terisa ) california's chief justice is weighing in on the debate over reforming the state's bail system. she wants to do away with the cash bail system. the chief justice would prefer that the state rely on risk assessment when it comes to deciding whether defendants should be released before trial. critics of the

current system say it hurts the poor because they cannot afford to post bail... while those with money can.. supporters of the current system say the cash bail ensures defendants will show up for court. died... three weeks after she was severely burned in a fire that tore through mendocino county. her death raises the number of those killed in the state's wildfires to 43. according to the "santa rosa press democrat"... 17-year-old kressa shepherd died last night. kressa's aunt says the teen did ánot register pain... as her bandages were being changed. doctors performed a cat scan... and determined she was brain-dead. kressa's brother -- 14- year-old kai shepherd -- was among the youngest who died in the wildfires. the shepherd family tried escaping the flames in their car... but their car caught fire. police received calls of two suspicious people at the overlook apartments on bi-centennial way. a neighbors reported that johnathon conner and christina marsh were carrying a large flat screen t-v and other items from one of the burnt areas. police eventually found the stolen truck and the two were caught trying to jump over a fence. the couple is facing more than half dozen felony charges. .( james ) happening today... jurors will hear more testimony about the weapon used in the murder of kate steinle. this week, a ballistics expert will talk about the gun used in the shooting. jose garcia zarate is charged in the murder. last week, the jury heard from the federal agent whose gun was stolen... and later used to kill steinle two years ago on pier- 14 in san francisco. the defendant claims it was an accident. the trial is expected to last another three weeks. ( terisa ) the man accused of carjacking a man in san lorenzo before running over

and killing the victim is set to be arraigned in court today. victor alvarez is being charged with murder and two counts of carjacking. police say the victim... james figueroa tried to stop alvarez from stealing his truck. that is when police say alvarez ran over figueroa. figueroa later died of his injuries. ( james ) happening right now... police are looking for the driver who killed a man in a hit-and-run accident in the east bay. the crash happened on 14-th street near harrison street in oakland. the victim was taken to the hospital where he died. police have not released a description of the car or driver they are looking for. we'll let you know when they do. ( james ) fremont police are on the lookout for this man ... thomas beltran. he was the subject of a nine hour stand-off with police. officers got a call from beltran's girlfriend saying he attacked her and that he was still in the home. police surrounded the house and tried talking to him... but it went know where. and after nine hours of trying, they went inside and discovered he was gone. beltran is

considered dangerous... police say he has a violent history and should not be approached. since severe storms hit the state and wrecked roads earlier this year. the gas tax is designed to raise 52-billion dollars towards road repairs over the next ten years. one man who drives an r-v says the gas tax won't prevent him from hitting the road.

( terisa ) here's a look at prices around the bay area right now. in oakland it's $3.08 for a gallon of regular. in san jose it's six cents less. and san francisco is always the most expensive at $3.18 for a gallon of gas. ( james ) four people are behind bars this morning after a motorcycle sideshow. it happened yesterday afternoon on southbound interstate 880 in oakland. a c-h-p aircraft spotted about 200 motocycles at the scene. several motorcyles fled the area and hit the streets of hayward. officers eventually caught up to that group and arrested four people on suspicion of reckless driving.

( james ) and police in san jose are searching for a driver after he injured an officer during a sideshow. it happened around 10 last night on hostetter road near highway 680. the officer was treated at the hospital for non-life threatning injuries. the driver left the scene. he was last seen driving in a maroon or brown nissan 240-s-x-e. four other drivers have already been arrested in connection to this sideshow. ( terisa ) bart police are looking for the man who robbed and carjacked a woman at a bart station in the east bay. police say a man walked up to a woman as she was walking away from her car. the woman told police he was holding a large wrench. he grabbed her arm and demanded her purse and keys. the man then got in the car and drove away. the woman was not injured. police have not released a description of the attacker. ( terisa ) and one man is jail this morning after threatening a bart station agent. it happened at the union city bart station. police have not said exactly

how the station agent was threatened. police say the man is prohibited from riding bart. ( james ) a man was killed in a shooting in oakland and the shooter is still on the loose. the shooting happened yesterday morning on eighth street. the victim died at the scene. police have not made any arrests or said what may have motivated the shooting. the killing marks oakland's 59th homicide of the year. ( james ) and police are looking for a gunman after one person was shot in oakland. the shooting happened saturday morning on the 15-hundred block of international boulevard. the victim was shot in the back and is in stable condition this morning. police do not have a description of the shooter.. ( terisa ) hundreds of sonoma county residents came together over the weekend for a day of remembrance for the victims of the north bay fires. to honor those who lost their lives, the santa rosa fire department rang a ceremonial bell for each victim with a final strike for those who are still missing. while saturday was a day to remember -- a long road to recovery lies ahead of the entire region.

( terisa ) congresswoman nancy pelosi toured the north bay fire zone saturday before speaking at the event -- giving her commitment to help the victims for as long as it takes. ( james ) police are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a seven-year-old girl from soccer practice in marin county. it happened thursday afternoon at the college of marin indian valley in novato. the seven year old had just been dropped off by her mom for practice. officers say the girl was between the parking lot and the soccer field...when a man approached her...demanding that she gets into his car. and when she said no... the man became verbally aggressive. luckily the young girl ran back to the soccer field. police have not yet released a sketch of the attempted kidnapper. ( james ) the san francisco district attorney's office cleared four officers in the 20-16 death of robert bowerwho died while in police custody. an autopsy showed that bower died of a methamphetamine overdose. this was part of a report on several officer involved shootings. three officers were also cleared in the death of alice brown... who was shot to death as she was driving in 20-15... investigators say her erratic driving... posed a threat to the public. the report also found that a san francisco police officer should not face criminal charges for shooting to death nicholas flusche back in may. investigators say flusche was stabbing a subway restaurant employee refused the command to get on the floorprompting that officer to shoot and kill him. the officers were cleared by the district attorney's independent investigations bureau. modesto are investigating a deadly drive-by shooting... the victim was just 5- years-old.( james ) modesto police say the shooting happened night. xavier smith was in the garage when the shooting started. he was taken to a nearby hospital... but he didn't make it. police say a 6-year-old boy was also shot in same area. he's expected to be okay. detectives have not identified any suspects or a motive.
