(robin) the search for mudslide victims continues this morning. 13 people are dead and dozens more are hurt... after a powerful slide swept away homes in the montecito area. paul vercammen shows us some of the damage. a storm that slammed a california coastal community is over. the search for its victims is not.authorities in santa barbara county were still trying to reach new areas and dig into the

destruction to find dead, injured or trapped people after a powerful mud flow swept away dozens of homes.at least 13 people were confirmed dead tuesday, at least 25 were injured and at least 50 had to be rescued by helicopters. those numbers could increase when the search is deepened and expanded wednesday, with a major search-and-rescue team arriving from nearby los angeles county and help from the coast guard and national guard along with law enforcement.they'll focus first on finding survivors. "right now our assets are focused on determining if anyone is still alive in any of those structures that have been damaged," santa barbara county sheriff bill brown said. the sheriff said "at least several dozen homes that have been either destroyed or severely damaged, and likely many other ones are in areas that are as-yet inaccessible." he said it's likely they'll find more people amid that

destruction.the search for the missing - whose numbers are uncertain - will continue through the night and then intensify after daylight wednesday, authorities said. most deaths were believed to have occurred in montecito, said santa barbara county spokesman david villalobos. enclave of about 9,000 people northwest of los angeles is home to such celebrities as oprah winfrey, ellen degeneres, winfrey's home survived the storm and slides. in an instagram post she shared photos of the deep mud in her backyard and video of rescue helicopters hovering over her house."what a day!" (robin) a driver is dead after a large rock fell down a hillside -- hit a car -- and knocked that car off a cliff. highway 121 is closed between vichy avenue and wooden valley road... the accident happened around 5:00 yesterday afternoon. officers have suspended the recovery effort until this morning because the hill is too unstable. drivers are being asked to use alternate as of now we do not know the identity of the driver killed...

(robin) new this morning... body parts found last year in hayward have been identified as missing san francisco father piseth chhay the 48-year-old went missing- was last seen on mother's day of last year. then in june police located human remains at the hayward warehouse where chhay used to work. late last night... kron 4 received a message from his family confirming that d-n-a results proved the remains were chhay's. shortly after chhay went missing... police identified one of his friends... bob tang... as a person of interest in the case. so far no arrests have been made. (robin) the violent colllsion with the school bus full of children.... left 12 people hurt ... including the pregnant woman who was driving the bus. it happened in el sobrante yesterday morning.on san pablo dam road...kron 4's j.r. stone has the story. natsthe chilling moments on

board a school bus seconds after a chevy silverado crashes into that bus. natsin fact the accidentthat happened in el sobrante and involved four vehicles was all caught on surveillance video. watch the upper left hand part of your screen as one car slows down to make a left hand turna volkswagon behind that car then slows down and a chevy silverado plows into that volkswagon sending it into oncoming traffic before slamming into the school bus. sot so a lot of big trucks go by sometimes but this sounded bigger than most big trucks it just went boom boom boom.this is what the volkswagon looked like after that head on collision. at last check the driver is in serious condition. it's unclear who is to blame but just looking at the video you can see the silvarado is going much faster than both cars in front of it. cheyenne boyer heard the accident and then saw the aftermath. he said one of the three people inside the silverado had serious injuries as well. his concern though was telling the kids on board that everything was going to

(robin) in pleasanton police say a tree brought down because of the recent storm ... helped stop a man they were chasing.. the 80 foot long oak is all cut up now but it was blocking a roadway. police say marquice mc- clinton of fremont, was driving a hyundai elandra... when it hit the tree yesterday morning. he ran off into the bushes and didn't turn up after a k-9 team searched the area. mcclinton is wanted for felony evasion. he was last seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. (robin) a home in pacifica is about to fall victim to the relentless coastal erosion that has already destroyed three apartment buildings and numerous houses in recent years... the owners did try to save it... but it is now just days away from demolition.. kron4's

charles clifford brings us the details... here in pacifica, the city has been dealing with erosion problems for decades and now it appears that encroaching ocean may claim another victimthis is 532 esplinade avenue. it was built in the 1940's and now it is the last house standing along this stretch of the city's waterfront. but not for long. the former owners of the house told kron 4 in an email monday that they tried for years to move the house to new lot, but failed to find a suitable location.with no options left, they say they recently sold the house to the city of pacifica and the plan is to demolish it later this week. conceding defeat they told kron 4 that "it's been a long process, and not the story's end we had hoped for" of course this isn't the first time that erosion has led to the demolition of building here in pacifica. you might recall that here in the 300 block of esplanade 3 apartement buildings, home to dozens of people, needed to be demolished after decades of erosion undermined the cliffs

beneath them. friday evening, pacifica residents told kron 4 that the erosion eating away at their city is unfortunate, but also inevitable.sotit's depressing. it really is.sot it's not good. but there's really not much you can do about it.once 532 esplinade is gone, the city plans to add the property to the esplanade beach overlook trail. finally, demolition work is set to begin thursday morning. in pacifica, charles clifford kron 4 news. home in pacifica is about to fall victim to coastal erosion that has already claimed three apartment buildings and numerous houses. the vacant home is the last house standing along this stretch of the city's waterfront. the cliffs underneath the home are badly eroded. unless something is done soon, it's only a matter of time until the building falls off the edge. pacifica residents told us the erosion is unfortunate but also unevitable. some of the damage. a storm that slammed a california coastal community is over. the search for its victims is not.authorities in santa barbara county were still trying to reach new areas and dig into the destruction to find dead, injured or trapped people after a powerful mud flow swept away dozens of homes.at least 13 people were confirmed dead tuesday, at least 25 were injured and at least 50 had to be rescued by helicopters. those numbers could increase when the search is deepened and expanded wednesday, with a major search-and-rescue team arriving from nearby los angeles county and help from the coast guard and national guard along with law enforcement.they'll focus first on finding survivors. "right now our assets are focused on determining if anyone is still alive in any of those structures that have been damaged," santa barbara county sheriff bill brown said.

( darya ) another big story this morning... san francisco-based chain "four barrel coffee" is changing it's name and handing over ownership to its employees.( james ) this is in response to a sexual assault lawsuit... filed against an owner who has since stepped down. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the details. in response to sexual assault allegations from 8 former employees against former co-owner jeremey tooker - four barrel coffee has announced some big changes.as if to reflect those changes the company will now be called 'the tide'. the san francisco coffee chain will also work toward shifting their business model to a co-op.all of their employees will become owners of the 9-year-old company and have one share and one vote in all matters.sot: kevin mowen,

has already claimed three apartment buildings and numerous houses. the vacant home is the last house standing along this stretch of the city's waterfront. the cliffs underneath the home are badly eroded. unless something is done soon, it's only a matter of time until the building falls off the edge. pacifica residents told us the erosion is unfortunate but also inevitable.
