latest ice enforcement but at least one community is pushing back.u.s. immigrations and customs enforcement says that on wednesday ice officers visited seven elevens in four bay area counties, including here in sonoma county. according to ice, the visits involved officers entering stores and questioning the employees about their immigration status. if anyone was found to be in the country illegally, they were arrested. ice deputy director thomas human said in a statement wednesday that "today's actions send a strong message to u.s. businesses that hire and employ an illegal workforce: ice will enforce the law, and if you are found to be breaking the law, you will be held accountable,"ice may have also visited multiple 7-11's aross santa clara county. david campos is deputy county executive for santa clara county. he says that ice's actions are part of a pattern that has emerged since donald trump became president.sotthis is just part of the same tactic to intimidate the immigrant communitycampos also says that the county is working to identify anyone who might have been detained and to offer what help they can.sotfor one thing we created a program that provides legal representation to someone who is detained in these raids. so, if they are detained at least there's a fighting chance that they will have their rights representee and protected.although santa clara county and other bay area communities might pushback against ice, deputy director homan says that, "ice will continue its efforts to protect jobs for american

now. according to the f-a- a...yesterday morning, an aeromexico flight was cleared to land. but air traffic controllers noticed... it was lined up for the wrong runway. the plane was ordered to execute a missed approach.at the time --- a virgin america jet was on the same runway where the aeromexico plane nearly landed .. this incident comes... after two high profile air canada incidents .. these are photographs from back in july - in those cases... a plane almost landed on a crowded taxiway, instead of a runway... the tower told the incoming jet to go around... and at the last second... the air canada pilot pulled up and flew over the other planes... just in time. in other incident -- an air canada flight did not respond to repeated requests to abort a landing... the crew reported a radio problem ... after landing safely. in hayward last june. tonight those have been identified as missing san francisco father piseth chhay.the 48-year-old who was a former uber driver was last seen on mother's day of last year. late last night... kron 4 received a message from his family confirming that d-n-a results proved the remains were chhay's. (steve) today police named chhay's friend bob tang as the murder suspect. (pam) kron 4's j-r stone is live tonight at police headquarters in san francisco. j.r., how close are police to catching this suspect? (jrs)(j.r.)it's really hard to say pam. it's believed that he fled to cambodia last year but officers say they are working to capture him. today 7 months after his remains were found in plastic bags police confirmed they are that of piseth chhaynow the attention again focuses on the murder suspect bob tang.sot in this situation he is a suspect and we are still looking for him we are actively working with our law enforcement partners to track him down and

bring him into custody because we do believe he is the suspect in the murder of mr. chhay.bob tang who you see here was origionally a person of interest in the disappearance of piseth chhay. now that chhay's remains have been identified they have named tang the murder suspect. tang was believe to be with chhay the day he went missing. days later his car was found at sfo and we soon learned he had fled to cambodia. family members of chhay told me last year that before tang fled the country he showed up to help them with the missing person search and it was at that point a cousin felt that something wasn't right.sot he was just pretty strange.lost for words and.sot he came to my house on monday evening with his wife acting like helping us out.passing out flyers and everything.(j.r.) officers tell me if you have any information that could help them in this case they urge you to call them. i have been talking with family members of piseth chhay this evening. they tell me they are deeply saddened by the news but have confidence that police will solve this case. faces escaped from the hawaii state hospital in november.he is being held at a correctional center unless he posts 500-hundred thousand dollars bail. if he posts bail, he'll be taken back to hawaii state hospital.saito walked out of the suburban honolulu hospital and took a taxi to the airport. police arrested him in stockton, california, three days later.saito was acquitted of a 1979 murder by reason of insanity. i thought she would be alright she was in the voluntary evacuation groupive been calling out her name all night and getting no response.her bedroom is upstairs if she only stayed upstairs. the north bay firestorm is sparking concerns over landslides in the bay area as well this evening. a rockslide has already caused the death of one driver in the north bay. kron four's terisa estacio has more on what happened.... and how cal- trans is warning of more dangers ahead. here in napa, behind me a mini mountain of straw wattles the napa county office of emergecy services teamed up with wattle guys a local producr of straw wattles to offer these for free. these are for erosion contol specifically to be used in the areas effected by fires, that devastated so much. the 8 foot wattles hae instructions attached for residents. they are out at the lot at the napa valley expo. there are also wooden stakes to help keep the wttles in place to do their job. the goal is to help protect loal creeks and the napa river from ash and tocis materisal s by stabliizing the burned areas. already, tragedy has struck because of

(pam) we count 29 flu -related deaths in the state so far this season. there have been seven flu - related deaths in the bay area... all with people under the age of 65.... the state does not track flu deaths for people over age 65. five of the deaths have been reported in santa clara county. experts say, flu season is early this year, and all signs point to a more severe flu season... health officials are urging people to take every precaution they can... to avoid the flu... including the flu shot .

new video tonight showing whales enjoying the waters off california... a group of 12 gray whales near monterey... on a south-bound migration. they are traveling from alaska to mexico ...where they will mate and have their offspring. this is the largest group of whales the monterey bay whale watch team has seen this season. though it is common to see gray whales passing during mid- january to

likes higher bridge tolls of course not but nobody likes sitting in congestion either the bay area toll authority will vote on january 24th on whether to put what will be called regional measure three on the june ballot. the bay area council will then start campaigning for it to pass. it'll add more vehicles to bart it would double the size of the ferry system. it'll improve highways and bridges and bus transitif passed by a majority of voters from all 9 counties the toll hikes would be implemented in phases. the cost to cross bay area state run bridges would be raised by $1 dollar in 2019, go up another buck in 2022, and then up another dollar in 2025.... (standup)which means in seven years it could cost 9 bucks to cross the bay bridge during peak commute times, and cost 8 bucks on the other six bridges. the mtc says their polling data shows most voters would pass the measure. but nearly all the drivers i talked to at his gas station in san francisco's south of market were firmly against the idea. i'm gonna vote no on that. people should think about it and lowing come people the people who have small kids we

currently battling it out with the cable company... it is a story you'll only see here on kron4... the tubbs fire took patty geisler's home days later her mom passed away while on hospice. now she's dealing with another battle after at&t charged her nearly $500 for the cable boxes that went up in flames.pkgan entire neighborhood up in flames. what's left of patty geisler's coffey park home is this tree, which now has a bit of decor. as the family tries to keep their spirits up and move on, they're left to deal with a $472 charge to her account. never should they ever deduct money from someone's bank account without knowledge. patty says her husband called a-t-&-t right after the tubbs fire to let them know everything was lost. to their shock, those charges were debited in december.i went through 3 different people that day telling them my story until i finally i spoke to a

have arrested a package thief.. the department posted photos of the "stolen items"... hoping to reunite the items with the rightful owners. the suspect was spotted yesterday on state street and delaware street..' a resident who had seen the thief on home surveillance a few days earlier, recognized him and called police. they say, he was carrying a stolen package -- and the stolen items you see here. madyun kron4news (steve) in the east bay tonight... oakland police have released the name of the bart officer involved in a deadly shoting outside the west oakland station. the is officer joseph mateu. police say, the incident began when the officer heard a shooting near the intersection of seventh and chester streets. he saw two men fighting, one of them with a handgun. police say, after giving several commands, the officer opened fire.. he has been placed on paid leave pending investigation. say they arrested a drug dealer selling crack cocaine and heroin right outside the bart entrance on eight and mission streets.. officers say they arrested the dealer at teh start of his "shift" before he was able to make any money. (pam) another big story tonight....governer jerry brown released a proposed budget for california .... as he begins his final year in office. but some are unhappy with the budget and what the state is ánot spending this year.... (pam) a new controversy over abortion... this time -- where the abortion pill is available. state senator connie leyva (lay-va) has introduced a new bill on abortion... it will make the abortion pill available... at all c-s- u and u-c health centers by 20-22. leyva brought the bill before the senate education committee today. she assured the committee members, the 13- million dollars needed to start the program will be paid for by private sponsers. that includes training and new equipment. while layve argues the abortion pill is safe enough to be offered at colleges... many others say, they two-step medication is
