winds making for a messy commute. rain finally turned to showers by the afternoon. the air is much more unstable now an we've seen a few lightning strikes. doppler radar continues to show more showers outside but they are more widely scattered. on the satellite you can see the storm as it moved ashore early today. behind it you can see another area of low pressure. that will bring another chance of rain wednesday especially in the south bay into the monterey bay. behind that another storm will move in to bring us much colder air and the possibility of thunderstorms. this last full week of winter is looking very busy. tomorrow shower will continue with a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms. more rain is expected on thursday and continuing into friday. highs will be chilly and in the 50s. snow levels will also be running low about 3,000 feet. winter storm warning continue in the sierra for heavy snow. stay tuned to kron 4 new for the very latest.

san ramon police chiefwe're still hiring from the 2017-18 fiscal year. so we're gonna get some of them started next month chief pratt says p-d is is urging citizens that have surveillance cameras in or around their homes or businesses, to register with police ... which then makes it easier for authorities to help find the culrit whenever a crime is committed. and so far it seems to be working.we had an incident where a couple of suspects shot a flare gun into some residences and we were able to capture footage of the vehicle. we put that out on social media and it helped identify the suspects and eventually they were caught and prosecuted.to help with combating crime, the city council previously proposed a camera system citywide ... but that won't make it into this year's budget. residents say they still feel they're living in one of the safest cities in the bay area.san ramon is always safe. it's been home for me since i was 17 years old. it's always been safe. i have my home here.i look at a

(steve) a california man on death row for more than 20 years could now free. after the state supreme court threw out his sentence and conviction on charges he raped and murdered a toddler. the court ruled unanimously that medical evidence against vicente figueroa's proved false. many of the doctors who testified at figueroa's trial now says the young girl's injuries were not a result of sexual assault. the girl was the daughter of figueroa's girlfriend ..who he was watching. the state supreme court said juror heard evidence suggesting the girl may have been hit by a car. (pam) california's decision to legalize marijuana has resulted in numerous changes. among them ... the way police dogs are trained. in placer county .... the roseville police departments canine unit will no longer be on the hunt for pot... just harder drugs ... like heroin... cocaine and meth- amphetamine. roseville officers say.. the switch up is due to the state's decision to legalize

djegal talked with the affected families... who took their concerns to city hall. (philippe) families who say they're living in poor conditions, facing no-cause evicitions and unfair rent increases... stopped by city hall in concord. they dropped off papers to have city inspectors tour their apartments and force their landlord to make repairs to problems that the tenants say have long been ignored. eliabeth lira/tenant- "it just makes us feel like we're less than them. we're paying for the property and just horrible conditions." bed bugs and cochroaches were found in some of the units we visited at the park haven apartment complex. a representative for the landlord says they do their best to respond to maintantenance requests. but tenants disagree.elizabeth lira/tenant- "they just say they'll get to it but they never do -- they just ignore us." that's why tenants like elizabeth lira have turned to the non-profit -- "acce." alliance of californians for community empowerment. "acce" is helping to stop what they claim are several no-cause evictions... and, unfair rent increases -- exceeding 10-

expecting their first child. she was seven montns pregnant. the successful clinical psychologist was only 32 years old she was killed friday... after taken hostage by gunman, albert wong. two of her colleagues were also killed friday. a veteran who stopped to reflect on the memorial talked with kron four about the tragedy. (sot) "jenn was brilliant. she cared about people she was a "helper" in the mister rogers sense. she dedicated her life to helping veterans who were hurting." (grant) tonight investigators are searching for a motive in the shooting. (grant)somona state university president sent out a statement today about doctor jennifer golick who earned her masters at the univeristy. the statement said in part "we are once again confronted with gun violence that plagues our society, and it is especially difficult when a victim is from our seawolf family.please join me in extending our deepest condolences to the family and friends of dr. golick and all other victims

consisting of seven- thousand pairs of shoes... one for every child killed by guns since the 2012 sandy hook school massacre. the shoes are from family members of victims, as well as celebrities, and others from across the country. the display was laid out on the southeast lawn of the capitol. (pam) also new at ten: police are looking for whoever is responsible for slashing the tires of at least 8 vehicles in vacaville. you are looking at newly released surviellance video. police say, the suspect not only slashed tires, but checked to see if any of the doors were unlocked. officers say, this happened in the north village, sometime around- 2 in the morning on saturday. if you recongize this person, you are asked to contact police. (steve) three more suspects are behind bars tonight...in connection to home invasions in petaluma that led to a pursuit into novato...bringing the total number of arrest to seven. the three men were arrested around seven last night at s.f.o airport...while trying to board a flight back to the east coast. two suspects...a man and a woman...remain at large tonight. deputies say nine people went to three different homes along eugenia drive around three yesterday

morning...looking for marijuana they mistakenly thought was being grown there. authorities say the group kicked in doors... tied up some of the people inside... and pistol whipped one man. in the search for the pot. (pma) in national news... a dog died on a news... a dog died on a united airlines flight.... after a flight attendant ordered the animal be put into the plane's overhead bin. united say, s it is taking responsibility for the incident... saying, pets should never be put in the overhead storage compartment. but that is what happened on a flight from houston to new york. passengers say, they heard barking during the flight. but did not know the dog had died until the plane landed at laguardia airport. united says, it is investigating... and talking to the flight attendant. moline-- it's all smiles in the martin house, except for that cat. it's all sinking in for this family after six months apart, their siberian husky feather, is back home. "it's not real. i'm still kind of in shock that she's here," says briana martin.back in september briana says feather was stolen right out of her backyard."when he went out 30 minutes later to check on her, she was gone," says briana. after searching non stop, the family had almost given up on ever seeing her again, until briana got a message on facebook from a mechanic shop in davenport."he messaged me and said parents stole her out of my backyard," says briana.she says she originally thought the man messaging her stole feather."i was very shocked. i just kind of stared at my phone for a second and said what? once i got my bearings, i said okay, what's their name, address. where can i find them?"the address was for a home 88 miles away in cedar rapids, iowa.after receiving those new details, officers at the east moline police department contacted police in cedar rapids. those officers went to that address and found feather there. the martins picked up feather hours later and brought her home.but this story is far from over. briana is pressing criminal charges."you are looking at grand theft in some cases. animals are not cheap, and you could go to jail. be willing to pay that price if you want to take an animal," says briana.but in the meantime, this family makes up for lost time."i wish i could know what's going on with her in the past six months, where she's been, what she's done,
