businesses added 178,000 jobs last month, possibly reflecting at least a modest pickup in hiring in the government's employment report this week but also the growing impact of worker shortages. "job growth is strong, but slowing, as businesses are unable to fill a record number of open positions," said mark zandi, chief economist of moody's analytics, which helps adp compile the report. "finding workers is increasingly becoming businesses' number one problem." the unemployment rate has fallen to a 17-year low of 3.9%. that means there are fewer available workers for each job opening. monthly job growth averaged a healthy 200,000 to the first four months of the year, according to labor's report, but that's likely to slow. run-up in home prices is 'not sustainable': realtors' chief economist . . . home values have been rising for six straight years, and the gains
9:19 am
have been accelerating for the past two years. the average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage is nearly a full percentage point higher today than it was in september 2017, its latest low. homebuyer demand may be weakening. a monthly survey found fewer potential buyers requesting home tours or making offers.. unlike the last housing boom, the gains are not driven by fast and easy mortgage money, but instead by solid buyer demand and very low supply. still, like the last housing boom, some are starting to warn these price gains cannot continue.

the big buzz is over the nba finals of course: the warriors and cavaliers play game one tomorrow in oakland with golden state the historic heavy favorite... if you wanna bet on the warriors you have to lay down a lot of money: 12-hundred bucks to win 100 dollars.. and you have to be prepared to lose a lot of money if you're going to bet on lebron.. to say he's an underdog is understatement.. although.. underdog was awesome.. remember that cartoon? it's only 50 years old.. but in color! lebron is a 12 point underdog in the first game.. one of the largest point spreads ever to

kick off the finals. james.. you think lebron bets on himself??? there is one athlete.. new to cleveland, who stands to lose millions if lebron wins.. browns football player damarious randall promised everyone on twitter who retweeted this, that he'd buy them a browns jersey if lebron wins.. last time i checked.. 600-thousand people retweeted it.. a jersey costs a hunderd bucks.. that bet could cost him 60 million dollars. so he's kind of routing for lebron but he's kinda rooting against him.. if you look at his twitter he says he's going to be courtside for games 3 and 4
