unsuccessful. in a statement the marine corps effort was made to recover our crew." two marines were rescued from the water after the crash... one of whom later died at the hospital. an investigation into the mishap is underway. the identities of the marines will be released after the next of kin are notified. ( darya ) san rafael police are investigating a construction workers death. the accident happened yesterday afternoon just before 3. fire crews were called out to a construction accident with a person trapped on east marin island. the construction worker had become trapped under a section of retaining wall comprised of rock and concrete. the worker was pronounced dead on scene. no word on how the worker trapped. cal osha is investigating the incident. ( james ) an 8-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries when a vehicle struck him as he crossed the street. the collision happened around 3 friday afternoon in the sunset district. the boy was riding a bicycle in the crosswalk when a vehicle hi hosptial. the driver of the vehicle... a 58-year-old

woman was also taken to the hosptial with minor injuries. police say she has not been arrested. ( james ) a mentally ill man who was shot by officers on the peninsula... has died. the incident happened yesterday morning in redwood city... at a home on lincoln avenue near el camino real.s 911 call of a man harming himself with a butcher's knife. police say they received a report that the man, 33- year-old kyle hart was cutting his wrists and throat inside the home. police say when they encountered hart there was a confrontation and he eventually charged at them with that butcher's knife. police say hart lived at the home with his wife and two small children. when officers arrived his wife had sustained minor injuries. the two kids were not injured. ( darya ) a bay area family is trying to find their son who has been missing since november 23-rd. gavin octaviano is a 22-year-old u-c irvine student. he was home in daly city for

thanksgiving break when he told his family he was going to meet up with friends.. but his friends say he never showed up. octaviano's car was found in a parking lot near the golden gate bridge. his family says its unlike him to just go missing. ( darya ) in the north bay... sonoma sheriff's department has arrested two men connected to a home burglary. yesterday morning deputies were called to the 19-thousand block of bay street in el verano. when deputies arrived at the home the burglars were gone but they noticed broken glass at the home next door. officers surrounded the home and a man... later identifed as 28-year-old bryce finch walked out of the home. once he saw deupties he ran back in.. deputies then chased finch out of the home. finch was shortly arrested...

bay... parents in one city are upset this morning... because they claim that their kids' classrooms don't have heaters. now those parents are demanding action. this is happening in hayward. one mother reached out to kron 4 after learning hearing that there were no heaters in her son's school. parents say the conditions need to be changed. ( james ) the hayward unified school district tells kron 4 that they have taken steps to fix the heating problems at morning are hearing from a man people

from the deadly camp fire. kron 4's ashley zavala met up with him ... and has his story. "you have to look out for your neighbor in that situation" shawn paul -- a maintenance worker at the core butte charter school will never forget november 8th...the father of five daughters spent the first part of his morning making sure his own children - and the students at his school were evacuated safely."most of them had no idea what was going on." then he went and checked on the elderly at this now destroyed mobile home park. "i went from mobile home to mobile home to mobile home to make sure i got everybody out, or at least up and moving, a lot of them couldn't drive so i had to find neighbors that could take them."by the time he finished doors.. traffic out of paradise was gridlock.. "the couple i evacuated from the mobile home park ran out of gas, so they came with me, then i had an 87-year-old gentleman who at night."he and

along with about 100 other scared community members stood by at the church nextdoor."we knew we but the fi around us," shawn says they were in the parking lot for about 8 hours while the fire scorched the town around it... before 5am saturday morning....in addition to the drill set you can see the man take off the shelf....right above the camera that is recording the burglary in progress....the man walked away with hakkinen's golf clubs and mountain bike. the homeowner believes the thief was able to gain access to his garage by first stealing his garage door opener.a neighbor's camera shows the man before the crime...apparen tly trying to open car doors.....hakkinen says after his door was opened, the man came in and calmly took the items one a time....and was filmed walking away the the items before coming back for more.the guy was cool as a cucumber he wasn't sweating he looked really put together he didn't look like he has issues or was homeless....he looked like a regular personwhat really galls me is that after he left he left my garage door open wide anyone could have come in.police are investigating and hakkinen is widely sharing the man's photo on social media. i want him caught i want him made an example of itthe thief is already an example....of the spike in burglaries reported in the city. according to sfpd as of october of this year there were nearly 4800 of them so far in 2018....which is up 13 percent from the same time last year. maureen kelly kron4 news

( darya ) a possible metal contaimination is behind the recall of more than 29- thousand pounds of jimmy dean ready to eat frozen sausages. the u-s-d-a food safety and inspection service says the products under recall were produced and packaged on august 4th. they are identied as "jimmy dean heat 'n serve original sausage links made with pork and turkey." the item has a use by date of january 31st. so far..the company has received 5 complaints of metal pieces found in the sausage

( darya ) in the south bay... two people are facing charges after a car crashed into a housting complex and ruptured a gas line...forcing 16 people out of their homes. it happened in the 1300 block of san tomas aquino road in san jose. investigators determined that 18-year old olivia paez and 28-year old brett oppido crashed the truck and then ran away. moments later, police says olivia called the police to report her truck was stolen. both were eventually arrested and booked for hit-and-run and giving a false police report. the 16 displaced people will be out of a home until a building inspector can complex safe. ( james ) non-profit organizations still need your help to get food and toys to people this holiday season. the salvation army in newark is gearing up for a big give away during the holidays. in addition to food and toys the organization is looking for warm jackets and volunteers who can help pass them out. volunteers will also help pack food in boxes...
