loved ones are seeking justice for 24 year old seeking justice loved ones are seeking justice for 24 year old jennifer vasquez...the woman shot and killed by san jose police early christmas morning. in a press conference thursday afternoon,police chief eddie garcia explains vasquez was mistaken for a suspect of a shooting tuesday morning but he says the officer's actions were justified.at 2 a-m, police say they responded to 911 calls of shots fired near story road and clemence avenue..upon arrival, officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds,and witnesses pointing out a white vehicle leaving the scene.. vasquez was driving a white toyota camry around that time,with her friend linda bueno in the passenger seat. police say vasquez was driving a stolen car..when they tried to pull the women over,they fled the scene leading officers on a high speed

yesterday. an alameda county judge says there is substantial evidence that cowell is incompetent to stand trial. he is accused of killing wilson and injuring her sister at the macarthur bart station back in july. cowell's attorney says it appears her client's delusions and paranoia are becoming more common. two doctors will now evaluate cowell. the judge is expected to meet with attorneys in february to discuss their findings. winds and cooler temperatures are pushing through the bay area. and as kron 4's dan thorn reports ... the easy bay is seeing some of the stronger gusts. a tree falls and blocks a popular san francisco street in hayes valley as weather officials issue a wind advisory..there was no one in the delivery truck at the time--but it serves as a warning as gusty winds move through the bay area..weather officials say the strong wind may knock down more trees or tree limbs and possibly knock out power. sot: the winds were pretty strong i just you don't always like wind when you have like hats and everything always getting off..dylan and his friend frank noticed the windier conditions also brought in colder temperatures..sot: it was pretty uncomfortable im not acclimated to this cold weather.. but it didn't keep them from eating ice cream.. sot: ice cream is good all the time..paul mcdermott and his girlfriend were dressed as polar opposites as the temperatures hovered just above 50 degrees in pleasanton..she's bundled up..he's in shorts..sot: you can always put on more clothes--can't take them off.

( robin )a big scare at the san francisco hall of justice thursday. people inside had to shelter in place after word of a bomb threat. it happened around yesterday evening when a phone call about a bomb was made to this building on 7th and bryant street. no one was allowed into the facility for about an hour. police later deemed the building safe... and the hall of justice continued their operations. no injuries were reported. (robin) in the south bay... the santa clara county d-a has filed a 67- million dollar environmental protection lawsuit against the monterey mushroom company. the d-a accuses the company of intentionally dumping waste- water into a county creek. an investigation by the california department of fish and game deteremined from early 20-16 into the spring of 20-17 monterey mushrooms pumped wastewater into waterways. on one occasion ... the company reportedly pumped 700-thousand gallons of wasterwater into the creek during a 2-day period. ( will )in the east bay... a transformer exploded in hayward... injuring a pg&e employee who was working on nearby power lines. it happened wednesday night. hayward police issued an advisory shortly after the explosion and said it caused a

power pole and vehicle to catch fire. santa clara street was closed from ocie way to red-bud lane as police, firefighters and pg&e worked the scene. ( will )( will )also in the east bay... a san leandro mother and her 12-year-old son are lucky to be alive after their attic caught fire. a neighbor on trojan avenue was walking by the home and saw smoke coming from the attic wednesday afternoon. the neighbor alerted the mother and son by knocking on the front door. firefighters say they were able to keep the fire from spreading beyond the attic. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. no one reported being injured.
