expected to last about 7 weeks. a spokesperson for the project says the impact of this work should be minimal. here is a diagram showing what the finished bart station will look like. today's work is just the first phase of the construction and most of the work is not scheduled to begin until the year 20-21. thanks will.

absences ... the t-s-a says wait times were within the normal range. they say flyers usually wait about 30- minutes in standard lanes and t-s-a pre-check flyers normally wait about 10 minutes. ( james ) new this morning... the supreme court has ruled that the pentagon can move forward with a plan to limit transgender people serving in the military while other lawsuits continue. the high court reversed lower-court orders preventing the pentagon from implementing its plans. but the supreme court for now declined to take up cases about the plan. it was back in summer of 2017 when president trump announced on twitter that he was banning transgender people from serving in the military. all five conservaties voted for the ban to take effect. all four of the liberal judges voted against the decision. peaks lookout back in 2016. the murders happened on valentines. richard contreras was is accused of shooting and killing 19-year- old rene mora and 21-year-old julio peraza. a third person was also injured in the shooting. ( darya ) happening now... police in fremont are looking for the driver involced in a hit and run accident. it happened in the area of calaveras avenue and blacow road. one woman was seriously injured but police say she has no memory of what happened. police believe that the car was traveling east on calaveras when it hit the woman. they are still looking for witnesses this morning. ( darya ) police in san mateo are investigating a series of car burglaries. all of the burglaries happened on the west side of san mateo between sunday night and monday morning. most of the burglaries happened west of alameda de las pulgas to campus drive... and south of 28th avenue to hillsdale boulevard. most of the cars had their windows smashed. police say they are still looking for witnesses and surveilance video in the area.

( darya ) a body was found in the water near pier 40 in san francisco. police have not released many details but they say it was a man between the ages of 45-50. at this point .. police are unsure about whether or not the man was a transient. ( darya ) officials also found a body below the cliff house in san francisco last night. officials say, the body is unrelated to a report of a sinking ship that happened in the same area. police say the report came in of a sailboat sinking about a mile away from the scene. police believe the body is not related to any coastal incidents. ( darya ) two people are recovering after a backyard deck collapsed in san francisco. firefighters say this happened at a private residence on the 16-hundred block 39th- avenue and lawton in the outer sunset district. its unclear how the deck collapsed. was arrested in paris france yesterday. brown has been in repeated legal trouble since pleading guilty to the felony assault in 2009 of his then-girlfriend, rihanna. he completed his probation in that case in 2015. brown's publicists at sony music have not commented on his most recent arrest. ( james ) new this morning. an internal memo from uber says the people tasked with investigating safe issues are overworked, underpaid and at times ... traumatized. we're talking about uber's special investigations unit. it handles more than one thousand cases a week... from criminal misconduct... to car crashes and deaths. but most of the cases it invetigates involve sexual assaults and rape by uber drivers. a cnn investigation found more than 100 documented cases... but inside sources say the true number of reported rapes is much higher. another cnn report found thousands of convicted criminals and sex offenders who were approved to drive for uber. of the nearly 12-hundred cases uber investigates ... the company says some of them were

( james ) and here's dramatic video of a fishing boat at san francisco's fisherman's wharf being nearly swamped by rushing tide waters. the 50 foot long fishing boat was hit by fast moving waters as the tide was receding late sunday. although there were people on board ... no one was hurt and the boat wasn't seriously damaged. (james) time to talk winners and losers with our financial expert rob black loser: us existing home sales tumble to three-year low . . . u.s. home sales tumbled to their lowest level in three years in december and house price increases slowed sharply, suggesting a further loss of momentum in the housing market. the national association of realtors said existing home sales declined 6.4 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.99 million units last month. at december's sales pace, it would take 3.7 months to exhaust the current inventory, down from 3.9 in november. a six-to-seven-months supply is viewed as a healthy balance between supply and demand.

( james ) the network broadcasting the super bowl has rejected a comercial that makes a case for medical marijuana. the ad would have shown three people suffering from different health issues. those peopple would then say that their lives were made better by medical marijuana. the company received a letter from the network saying that they were not accepting marijuana related advertising this year. the average cost of a 30-second ad during this year's super bowl is 5-point-2 million dollars. ( darya ) california could become the first state in the nation to offer parents six months of paid leave. new legislation has been introduced at the state capitol. research shows that longer paid maternity leave can increase the rate of mothers who attempt breastfeeding by as much as 18 percent. governor gavin newsom says that's one of the many benefits in the plan. lawmakers still do not know how the state will pay to keep parents home longer with their baby. the bill, sponsored by the california lawyers association will also offer parents job protection. supporters argue workers are already paying for that.

chamber has declined to take a position on the proposal until more funding details emerge. ( darya ) new state legislation makes it legal for cannabis businesses to deliver pot anywhere in california, even in cities that have banned it. the law overrides bans that some cities have on cannabis sales. some businesses are urging city leaders to catch up with the growing marijuana industry. the owner of a dispensary in cathedral city says this is an opportunity for him to expand his business to new customers who may not have access to dispensaries or other deliveries. some residents are worried about its access to kids.

bankruptcy is expected to take center stage at protests in sacramento today. kron 4's ashley za-val-a explains how activist erin brockovich is getting involved. when lawmakers return from the holiday weekend tuesday, they'll be greeted by protesters outside the capitol. environmental activist erin brockovich will help lead a protest alongside north bay and camp fire victims, urging lawmakers to not allow pg&e to file for bankruptcy.pg&e has said it's making preparations to begin filing by the end of the month. pg&e officials say they believe a court supervised process would best enable the utility to resolve its potential liabilities. legal experts say the company could avoid paying victims in full for the many fire-related lawsuits filed against it. tuesday's protest is expected to draw about 100 people.just before the protest, on a different side of the building.. calfire and the state's board of forestry and fire protection are set to announce new vegetation management plans to try to reduce wildfires.the planned

( james ) a camp fire survivor found a family heirloom after returning to the ashes of her home. the one -of-a-kind ring she thought was destroyed has since been restored-- scraped-- reshaped-- and polished. heather thornewood's great-great grandfather made this ring out of a tie-stud --and gave it to her great-great grandmother sometime in the early 1900's. eventually-- it was passed down to her. < "it lived through the great depression. it's over 100 years old and i'll be able to pass it on to my children at some point in time.">( james ) heather and her family returned to the rubble to look for the ring last month.
