(ken) (ken) a san francisco couple reported missing... has been found safe. 21-year-old carlos hernandez and his girlfriend... 18-year-old maia herman-kitami were reported missing on friday. they were camping in the mendocino national forest in glenn county. that is about an hour and a half west of chico. according to the glenn county sheriff's department... the were found on county road 312... around 4:40 this afternoon. the couple was located in hernandez' jeep.. which had become stuck in the snow. they were reportedly in good spirits and are set to return home soon. (pam) oakland teachers vote "yes" to a strike ... if the school district does not meet their

demands. the union says, no date has been set, but if their needs for better pay and better schools are not met--teachers may go on strike by the end of the month. (ken) kron4's dan thorn is at oakland technical high school where that vote took place today..he joins us live with more..dan? 95 percent of teachers voted in favor of going on strike. the union is giving the district until february 15th-- saying if the district doesn't act, they will act. nats... o-e-aoakland teachers calling for better pay and better schools..teachers are demanding a 12 percent increase over the next 3 years..the oakland unified school district is offering 5 percent..sot: if we have to go on strike then that's what we'll do..elementary school teacher chaz garcia says the issue of pay has been

highlighted but there's more at play worth striking for.. sot: we have students who don't have the resources that they need in terms of support staff so we are saying that that must happen we need to see an increase in support staff for our students and class sizes need to be smaller.. students walked out of their classrooms at oakland tech to show solidarity with their teachers..the authorization to strike vote took place at the high school.. nats..95 percent voteteachers have been working without a contract since 2017..an oakland school district spokesman says they have plans in place if teachers do walk-out..sot: we are putting plans in place for finding substitute teachers for getting our central office staff to our schools to ensure that the educational process continues at those schools. oakland education association president keith brown says if a strike was to happen it would likely take place after 15th.a report from a fact-finding panel is set to be released that day..sot: without a very serious proposal bu the school board that addresses smaller class size, more student support a living wage and keeping our neighborhood schools open we could be on strike by the end of the month... the union is holding a rally tomorrow at 4:30 in the afternoon at city hall where teachers plan to call on the city council to help with

morning, police say 21- year-old kayla wilson drove onto the vermont street on-ramp headed southbound in the northbound lanes. they say she first side swiped two cars - then continued around a bend...where she hit a mini-van head on. the man driving that van was killed.. and has been identified as 40-year-old waheed etimad from concord. wilson also died in the crash, and nine other people were injured. a go fund me page has been set up for etimad. his friend says he was a father of seven-- and had immigrated to the u-s four years ago, seeking a better life for his kids. etimad was a student during the day and drove for uber at night. you can find a link to the go-fund-me page on our website at kron-4 dot com. heavy snow in the sierra - nevada is making for dangerous driving conditions. state transportation officials say, slippery, white-out conditions are affecting several mountain passes between sacramento and reno .... making it difficult.. to impossible to drive..

raiders may be getting closer to finalizing a deal to play the 20-19 season at oracle park in san oracle park in san francisco... however... neither the giants nor the raiders commented on the potential de today. oracle park has been tossed around as a possible home for the raiders since december... when the team announced it was pulling out of a one-year lease extension at the oakland coliseum. today san francisco supervisor matt haney, whose district includes oracle park, said there are many factors at play here. matt haney says: "we'd have a lot of serious things to talk about, you know, how are we going to deal with all the people, with the transportation, with public safety, with our infrastructure. we haven't

(pam) a big story tonight. after losing everything and being forced out of their homes... many people in paradise are being forced to relocate again. olivia degennaro explains what happened at this morning's paradise town council meeting. ((pkg))olivia standup: "many people who lost their homes in the camp fire have moved back to their properties in rvs while they clean up and rebuild. but after a vote by the paradise town council this morning, many of these people will have to leave their properties again."mos: "you want us to rebuild, don't you? you want us to be strong, right? well then please don't kick people off of their property again."frustration... even outrage from some paradise residents as they spoke before the town council this morning.mos: "we're living in parking lots, trying to wait for the town of paradise to give us a space, even if it's temporary, for us to put our trailers and rvs until our homes can be cleaned so we can go home. we all want to go home!"many lost almost everything in the camp fire last year... and they've started moving back onto their properties in r-vs and trailers.but now-- they'll have to uproot their lives

allowed on certain areas of protected land near where the work will be happening... but that the group is taking legal action to fight the wall project. last march, congress approved more than 600-million dolalrs for this project... some democrats in congress supported what's being called a border wall system. u-s customs and border protection is leading the project and released maps showing the consruction would cut through the butterfly center, a nearby state park, and a century-old catholic chapel next to the river. many landowners oppose a border wall and have vowed to fight the government if it tries to seize their property through eminent domain. court fights over condemning land could take months. as president trump gets set for tomorrow's state of the union, when he figures to make his case for the nearly 6 billion in funding for the larger wall

date has been set for former trump campaign manager paul manafort: march 13th. that's according to a federal district judge in washington, d.c. the new date pushes back slightly the timeline of manafort's first sentencing. at the hearing, he'll be sentenced on conspiracy and witness tampering, which he pleaded guilty to. the judge overseeing the case is still deciding whether manafort breached his plea deal with the special counsel's office. he's accused of lying to them during his cooperation interviews and grand jury testimony. (ken) at a later, unset date, manafort will be sentenced by a separate federal judge for eight financial crimes. it's unknown how much prison time he likely faces but he could end up in jail for more

(pam) a measure that would allow safe injection sites in san francisco .... was introduced today in the state legislature. former governor jerry brown vetoed a similar bill last year. if approved, the measure would implement a pilot program for three years ... allowing the city to create the nation's first safe injection sites. mayor london breed has been a large proponent of the sites, arguing they would take drug users off the streets... and place them into facilities with access to counseling. the department of justice has said .. it opposes the establishment of the sites. parents in the east bay-- desperately looking for a plan of what to do with their kids if the teachers walk off the job.(grant) thanks for joining us im grant lodes... (vicki) and im vicki liviakis... the union says, no date has been set, but if their needs for better pay and better schools are not met--teachers may go on strike by the end of the month. (grant) kron4's dan thorn is at oakland technical high school where that vote took place today.. dan, how is everyone responding tonight? well the strike is not a done deal but this vote is a threat that should be taken seriously. the union is giving the district until february 15th--saying if the district doesn't act--they will act. the oakland education association announces 95% of it's teachers have voted to authorize a strike..nats.. teachers are calling for a contract agreement they've been without since 2017..sot: we are hoping there is no strike . we are doing what we can to come to an agreement without union hoping we can find common ground and get their a contract they are happy with
