concrete fell from the upper deck on to the lower deck, prompting a lengthy bridge closure. caltrans is expected to permanantly fix the bridge this weekend.( james ) here are pictures of the concrete chunks. some were the size of a football. they fell on a car late yesterday morning ... prompting chp to close the bride after caltrans did some saftey checks, the bridge reopened. but soon after ... more concrete parts began to fall onto the lower lanes. so just as rush hour began ... the bridge was closed to make temporary repairs. the repairs involved installing large metal plates onto the upper deck over the damaged concrete. caltrans officials say an emergency order has been issued to make more permanent repairs this weekend. its unclear if any lanes will be closed when they get to work. ( darya ) in san francisco... repair work continues at geary and parker... after wednesday's gas line explosion. as we reported live yesterday morning... a contract worker ruptured the line while digging to install a fiber optic cable. the n-t-s-b is now leading an investigation into how that happened.

everything from work hours to training of personnel.>( darya )( darya ) investigators will also look into whether workers had a current map... and if the gas lines in the area were correctly marked. ( darya ) the general contractor responsible for rupturing the line is florida-based "mastec." the california division of the occupational safety and health administration is now taking a closer look at them... again. cal-osha has actually inspected the business three times before. the first time was in concord in 20-15... when a worker got an electrical shot while demolishing power lines on ygnacio valley road. mastec was issued a citation in that case. the other two investigations involve cases in southern california. one is closed, but the other is still open. year-old andy miranda. he was arrested in oakland after police say he contacted an undercover officer who was posing a 14-year-old on social media. oakland police say miranda attempted to meet with the undercover officer to engage in sexual activity. he is now charged with multiple sex crimes against children. the san francisco unified school district says he was a volunteer coach at mission high school ... but is no longer coaching for the district. ( james )new this morning... a san jose taekwando teacher is accused of inappropriately touching two of his students. 32-year old andrew suh is the owner of the taema taekwondo studio. he was arrested for inappropriately touching two 15-year old girls. the incidents happened between may 20-13 to may 20-14... and then again in 2017. suh was booked into the santa clara county jail. ( james ) on the peninsula.... the body of a woman found in san francisco bay has been indentified as daly city resident christa mahoney. mahoney was last seen on january 26th after leaving john's grill restaurant in san francisco.

her dog was picked up by animal control after he was found alone wandering near union square. mahoney's wallet and phone were found on a city bus. san francisco police recovered the body on february first.. and said at the time foul play was not suspected. ( james ) the case against the accused killer of a stanislaus county police officer has been put on hold until april. corporal ronil singh of the newman police department was killed during a d-u-i stop last month. yesterday... his family attended a competency hearing for the man accused of killing him. paulo mendoza had been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation. his attorney said at the hearing he now believes mendoza is mentally competent to stand tril ... and asked a judge to seal the mental health

state assumblyman jim patterson is continuing his call for the state auditor to review the agency. headed our way, water is being released from the south bay's largest reservoir... anderson reservoir near morgan hill.( darya ) as kron four's rob fladeboe reports, the level in the reservor is down to prevent possible flooding but also to guard against earthquakes. water is gushing from a pipe here at the base of anderson dam at the rate ofabout 150,000 gallons a minute. the water is being released into coyote creek but is not likely to cause any flooding downstream says the water

district's kurt arends.kurt rends/santa clara valley water district "....the flows are limited so there is not enough to cause any damage downstream, plus we do it when it's sunny and not raining and hopefully by the time the next storms arrive the reservoir will be back down and there will be plenty of storage..."right now, the level in the reservoir is at roughly 35-percent, well below capacity.but because the dam is seismically deficient and could fail in a large earthquake, the level must not be allowed to exceed 58- percent says arends.kurt arends ".....we're trying to catch it early and let a little water out so the reservoir doesn't get too full, there is still quite a bit of winter left so we want to be sure there is enough room to capture future rains and not get above the seismic restrictions..."(file-2017 flood)despite similar releases in 2017, anderson reservoir spilled over, resulting in widespread flooding along coyote creek in san jose. late winter storms caught everyone by surprise. this time the releases are starting sooner.kurt arends "...that was simply an unfortunate period of hydrology where we had a

(á2 shotá)( darya ) now to california's affordable housing crisis. more than 60- percent of 18-to-34-year- olds living in the state say they cannot afford it here. ( james ) thats according to a new quinnipiac university poll. governor newsom has budgeted 1-point-7 billion 'new' dollars for expanded loans and quicker processing to open up the housing market. but despite the governor's efforts ... some builders say much more needs to be addressed. there a lot of fees associated with buying a new home. including school fees ... environmanetal fees ... and mitigation fees.

vet said she was so cold --- it was difficult to get an i-v into her. they ended up using warm water, hair dryers, heated towels and a heated kennel to get her body temperature back to normal. her owners then took her home after spending a night in the e-r. the owners say while she was a mostly outdoor cat before --- they're going to keep her indoors from now on.
