water has been piring out of the outley pipe at the base of the dam for the past week. it's always a veryimpressive sight to see this, about a 179,000 gallons per minte pouring into coyote creek and making it's way downstream, through san jose and out into the bay.(take vo) marty grimes/santa clara valley water district '.....certainly, it's dual, there is a dual purpose for doing this. one is we reduce the chances we willexceed the seismic restrictions on that reservoir but as the same time we reduce the chances the level will rise even further and cause the water to spill over the spillway so both risks are reduced by opening the spillway..."(trailing vo) (rob/live/vo) here's the view from an top of the dam looking east. you can see that thereservor is well below capacity at about 36 percent and the goal here is to keep it nder n58 percent. but water is coming in faster than it's being let out because
