powerful storm is moving into the bay area as we speak. rain is starting to fall in the north bay-- but it's going to get more intense in the overnight hours. and the heavy rain is expected to cause flooding, mudslides, and downed trees. good evening i'm vicki liviakis. (grant) and water managers across the region are keeping close tabs on áreservoir levels... they're also checking the rivers and creeks that feed into those reservoirs. kron four's rob fladeboe jons us now live from anderson reservoir in morgan hillwhere the they have quite literally pulled the plug on the dam to let some water out to make room for more. rob?

water has been piring out of the outley pipe at the base of the dam for the past week. it's always a veryimpressive sight to see this, about a 179,000 gallons per minte pouring into coyote creek and making it's way downstream, through san jose and out into the bay.(take vo) marty grimes/santa clara valley water district '.....certainly, it's dual, there is a dual purpose for doing this. one is we reduce the chances we willexceed the seismic restrictions on that reservoir but as the same time we reduce the chances the level will rise even further and cause the water to spill over the spillway so both risks are reduced by opening the spillway..."(trailing vo) (rob/live/vo) here's the view from an top of the dam looking east. you can see that thereservor is well below capacity at about 36 percent and the goal here is to keep it nder n58 percent. but water is coming in faster than it's being let out because

(vicki) new video tonight showing an armed robbery in san jose. this happened at the shan market on east julian street back on january 25th-- but police just released this surveillance video. police say the two men in the video walked into the store and demanded money-- and two bottles of alcohol from the clerk. one of the men was holding a gun. police say they got away with an unknown amount of cash. they are asking anyone who might recognize these men to give them a call. community's help in finding whoever is responsible. kron4's haaziq madyun shows us where it happened it was a busy morning cleaning up broken glass and replacing shattered windows for some residents in benicia. this is where vehicles parked on west m street, west 3rd street and east o street had windows smashed overnight by vandalssot that is saying a lot because kennon mcclanahan and his family have lived here for over 40-years. he says his girlfriend's car was also vandalized. believe it or not he is feeling kind of lucky. it could have been worsesot nat/sot haaziqso just pure vandalism?sotbenicia police received their first 9-1-1 call tuesday at around 2am. in the following hours 3-dozen vehicles were reported vandalizedsot

guzman guilty of all 10 criminal counts against him. the jury of eight women and four men deliberated for over 6 days. the 61-year old was charged with running a years long criminal enterprise as the leader of the sinaloa cartel. the prosecution's case featured 2-hundred hours of testimony from 56 witnesses. fourteen of those witnesses -- mostly admitted drug traffickers and cartel associates -- cooperated with prosecutors. "el chapo" faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison. his defense attorneys plan to appeal. (grant) the governor is pumping the brakes on the high speed rail project... meant to connect san francisco and los angeles through the central (vicki) gavin newsom announced the change today in his state of the state address. capitol bureau reporter ashley zavala explains how the project is changing, and how lawmakers are reacting...
