breaking news tonight.... according to kron 4 sources the san francisco police department is investigating the death of jeff adachi. sources confirm to us they are looking to see if there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. an autopsy is pending. good evening and thank you for joining us at 8, i'm jr stone. (jrs) many in the bay area are mourning the death of san francisco's long-time public defender jeff adachi. mayor london breed announced his death last night. saying in part, quote: " san francisco has lost a dedicated public servant, and our communities have lost a champion." another good friend of jeff adachi is john burris -- an attorney in the bay area. here is his reaction to the news last night.the news last night.

(dan) police are still looking for that man tonight.. neighbors tell me this type of thing is very unusual for their quiet neighborhood... police say thankfully the teen is okay but this is a good safety reminder for parents... san ramon police are on the lookout for a would-be kidnapper who targeted a teen in this quiet neighborhood.. parents told police on friday night around 6 their 13 year old daughter was walking home on fallen leaf circle. a man pulled up in his car and told the girl her dad wanted him to give her a ride. when the girl said no the man then opened the passenger side door and tried to grab her..she ran off and hid in some bushes waiting for the man to drive off...she then immediately called her parents to tell them what happened...sot: this is the first time i've hear about anything like this..neighbor jeannie toy says she saw the cops when she was coming home

there is a chance of light rain late tonight and on sunday. a plume of moisture will bring periods of moderate to heavy rain to the majority of the bay area for the first half of next week. another potentially wet system may bring more rain to the bay area late next week and into the following weekend. (justine) it is going to take crews severeal months to finish repairs to the richmond-san rafael bridge. they are replacing an additional 31 of the original flexible joints on the bridge's upper deck. a failing joint caused concrete to fall onto the lower deck two weeks ago... forcing a shutdown of the bridge. the replacement of that joint is expected to be completed by march 2nd. after that, they'll begin work on dozens

of additional upper deck joints. that work will take place from 9 pm to 5 am... with one lane of traffic remaining open in each direction. the installation of a movable barrier... as well as a bike/pedestrian path... will be delayed by at least two months. the search for the body of a woman who was buried by a coastal landslide at fort funston in san francisco. (justine) kron 4's sara stinson has the latest details on the search. (on cam)the recovery effort began friday afternoon after a coastal cliffside collapsed on two women in their 20's were walking a dog on the beach at fort funston. san francisco fire crews were able to rescue one woman and the dog - both survived and are okay.crews have been searching for her friend ever since. the national park service monitored the area overnight and in the morning joined about 60 san francisco firefighters and two k-9's to continue their search using heavy equipment such as tractors.crews quickly realized the overnight high tide washed the landslide area away.

87% between 2014 and 2017....and with more than 300 auto burglaries happening in just the first seven weeks of this year.and while police recently made headway with the arrest of 11 car burglary suspects in eight days....including these two here.....just this morning they tweeted out this reminder that the problem persists. it reads....last night our swing shift team took 4 auto burglary reports in the parking lots of city sports, black bear diner and planet fitness. all in the mowry/farwell area. hashtag remove it or lose it.their slogan used to be remove it lock it or remove it....but they say it's not enought that you remove your phones and laptops from plain sight.....by locking them in your trunk (standup)fremont police is now saying that is you must leave your valuables in your car...to get a lock box for your trunk and secure it to the frame of your vehicle.investigators say most of these crimes occur in the parking lots of retail shopping centers along the 880 corridor.(standup)it's gotten to the point that starting

(jrs) r&b singer r. kelly appeared in court saturday-- after being indicted on 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse.(justine) this latest case invovles four alleged victims-- including teens. steve nannes has a closer look at the investigation and reaction from kelly's alleged victims. one million dollars.that's how much a chicago judge on saturday set for r-and-b singer r-kelly just hours after he turned himself into authorities.the grammy- award winning singer charged with sexually assaulting four people including three teens between 1998 and 2010. prosecutors alleging kelly's inner-circle helped him find his victims.kimberly foxxcook county state's attorney"robert kelly's manager then gave the victim robert kelly's card with his personal cell phone written on it and told the victim robert kelly wanted her to call him."this latest investigation was sparked by new evidence involving a video tapethat appears to show kelly

(philippe)nats- "kids need clean air. kids need clean air." lined up along the sidewalk, crystal dia (dye) and her young daughter join in the protest against tri city rock.crystal dia/mother- "i'm very upset." the dia's and dozens of others who showed up to rally in fremont against the industrial business, wearing dust masks, indicating the breathing problems kids are dealing with that they allege stem from uncovered concrete, dust and dirt piles blowing daily just feet from the stratford school on the other side of the fence. dia says her daughter has been impacted.crystal dia/mother- "she sometimes say, 'oh i saw a duststorm today, and sometimes she told me the air breathes really bad during the daytime."nats- "dust and particulates blow into the school." bradley angel is the executive director of the non-profit organization greenaction for health and environmental justice. he helped organize the rally. bradley angel/greenaction-

(jrs) california senator dianne feinstein got into a heated discussion friday with some school kids who were asking her to support the green new deal. the middle and high school students representing the "sunrise movement" met with senator feinstein and they posted this video of their encounter with the senator. the group says they are trying to make climate change a key issue. senator feinstein told the students that the deal is too expensive and would not pass the senate.

department posted this video of the snow coming down over malibu friday. this winter storm has brought in very cold tempertures and several areas in the united states have seen some unexpected snow over the past couple days. (justine) and take look at this great time lapse outside of flagstaff, arizona. this is actually a record snowfall for them. flagstaff is about 3 hours north of the state capitol of phoenix. you can see as the bushes start to completely disappear in the snow as it just continues to pile on. and snow in the desert? this is an almost eriee scene also in arizona where cacti across north scottsdale are covered in snow. just some serieal images being seen across the states.
