(vicki) a big story we are following tonight... this afternoon, congress passed a resolution to terminate president donald trump's emergency declaration on the southern border.(grant) twelve senate republicans joined democrats to pass the measure - but the president has already promised to veto it. so what happens next? omar jimenez has the details from washington. "mr. merkley, aye"and with that - a striking rebuke of president donald trump"the yeas are 59, the nays are 41, the joint resolution has passed. senators-- including several republicans-- passing a resolution blocking his national emergency declaration to fund a wall along the southern border. sen. lamar alexander, (r) tennessee: "this declaration is a dangerous precedent"sen. mitt romney, (r) utah: "this for me is a matter of defending the constitution and the balance of powers"this...despite a last-minute push by the president to win his party's supportpres. donald trump: "it is pure and simple, it's a

vote for border security. it's a vote for no crime."it's a symbolic blow to the white house - but not a crippling one.the resolution was passed by the democratic-led house last month, and now heads to president trump's desk... where he's made this promise: pres. donald trump: "i'll probably have to veto, and it's not going to be overturned." this vote comes after a months-long battle over one of president trump's key campaign promises - leading to the longest government shutdown in u.s. history earlier this year. after congress reached a deal for 1.3 billion dollars for border security, the president declared a national emergency to free up billions more in additional funding. from here -- the declaration will likely be tied up in court for years, as several states have filed lawsuits.in washington, i'm omar jimenez. "i look forward to vetoing the just passed democrat inspired resolution which would open borders while increasing

crime, drugs, and trafficking in our country. i thank all of the strong republicans who voted to support border security and our desperately needed wall!" (grant) in the east bay... the alameda coliseum authority will vote tomorrow... on a lease agreement to allow the raiders to stay in oakland next season. the raiders new stadium in las vegas isn't áscheduled to open until he 20-20 season. one coliseum offical says the team had reached an agreement to stay in oakland... but it fell apart after the city sued the raiders for moving to vegas. the new agreement would also allow the raiders to start the 20-20 season in oakland if the vegas stadium is not ready. if the coliseum authority approves the lease... it will still need to be approved by

the city council. ... (vicki) on the peninsula... the move to ground all boeing 737 max planes means a lot of empty jets at s-f-o. kron 4's sara stinson details on how this is impacting flights and how passengers feel about the jets being grounded. "i spoke with several passengers here at s-f-o flying out and they tell me they are so relieved that president trump decided to ground all boeing 737 max eight and nine. we're the last country to do and passengers say it's about time.""a great relief. i think it's the right decision.""i think it was the right call, cautionary call to figure out what exactly the problem is."as other countries began grounding the aircrafts, the f-a-a said there was no data to showing the boeing max's were unsafe.that was until president donald trump issued the emergency order wednesday saying new information has come to light in the ongoing investigation into the crash."i guess since

(vicki) now to the north bay.. where road construction could cause some delays for people in marin . that's on top of the gravel problem on the richmond san an emergency repair project will tie-up drivers on highway 101 southbound between spencer ave and the robin williams

tunnels. cal trans is working to repave part of the road... which is expected to last until monday. and they're shutting down several lanes because of it. caltrans says the work on 101 will improve the riding surface and enhance safety. but, with all this construction... be prepared to add extra time to your commute. lawrence karnow: it was another gorgeous day with sunshine and warm temperatures. highs were mainly in the 60s. it is dry on the doppler radar across the state as high pressure has taken over. tonight will see a few passing clouds and cool temperatures with lows in the 30s and 40s. on the satellite you can see the dome of high pressure along the west coast. it will strengthen through the weekend and bring many 70s to the bay area. tomorrow will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 60s. dry warm weather will last through monday. on tuesday the clouds start to roll back in and then there's a chance of rain on wednesday.

(grant) in national news tonight... secretary of commerce wilbur ross was on capitol hill once again answering questions, about the controversial decision to add a question about immigration status to the u-s census. (vicki) as kron 4's washington correspondent alexandra limon reports... democrats say there's proof wilbur ross lied to congress about why he added the question. secretary of commerce wilbur ross is under fire a question on the 2020 census...that asks if you are a us citizen... . rep. elijah cummings / chair, oversight committee md-dafter experts at the census bureau warned, and i quote that it
