(grant) new information tonight about a shooting in walnut creek. police are searching for two suspects after an armed robbery-- that led to a man being shot. kron 4's sara stinson has the details. "the shooting happened right here in the heart of walnut creek in the union bank parking lot. i spoke with people who live and work here who say they are shocked this would happen in such a safe city."i'm just...it's completely shocking...i always feel safe walking by there."i believe it's a very safe place to live, but just like anywhere we do have troubles

sometimes."walnut creek police are still looking for the gunman who shot a man here in the union bank parking lot on mount diablo blvd and locust street just before ten sunday night.police had the entire parking lot tapped off as they investigated the scene.across the street is a century theaters - movie goers stood by wondering what happened.the man who was shot walked into kaiser's walnut creek medical center with a gunshot wound to the back.his injuries are non life threatening.the odd thing is that there are very few witnesses so the circumstances that led up to the shooting are still under investigation. people on scene say the victim was robbed before being shot - but we are still trying to confirm that with police. people say this type of violent crime just doesn't happen here."oh it's really nice, i live down the street, i've never been worried about walking here."the biggest question now is was the victim targeted or was he shot at random? we have reached out to the walnut creek police - but have not heard back.in walnut creek, sara stinson, kron four news.

(grant) also in the east bay... a heads up if you're in oakland this week. emergency officials will be conducting a test for sending out earthquake alerts to cell phones in oakland. starting wednesday... your cell phone may go off if you're in or around downtown oakland. officials are using geo-fencing technology to target phones within 60 square blocks of east lake merritt. (grant) police in oakland continue to search for a suspect who stabbed someone on a bart train. these are surveillance images of the suspect. the stabbing happened friday afternoon as the train was pulling into the fruitvale station. police say the man was fighting with another man -- which led to the stabbing. they are now asking for the public's help identifying the suspect. police say the victim was stabbed once in the face and once near his neck... but he is expected to be recover.

(vicki) happening now-- police in san francisco are investigating a deadly shooting. and we have just learned two people have been arrested. it happened saturday night on fillmore street between eddy and ellis. police say 25- year-old mister dee carnell mister dee year-old mister dee carnell simmons was killed in the shooting. five other people were injured in the shooting. police arrested 25-year-old sean harrison of concord and 26-year-old jamare coats of san francisco in connection to the shooting. (grant) in the south bay... a man is dead after he was hit by a car while trying to cross highway 101 in mountain view. it happened last night near the rengstorff avenue interchange. a man was trying to cross the northbound lanes when he was hit by a car. police say the driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating. the victim was taken to the hospital where he died... his identity has not been released. (vicki) in the north bay... a man is arrested after breaking into a home in petaluma over the weekend. it happened on spyglass road... not far from ely boulevard. police say a 26-year-old transient entered

the home through an open window. the person who lives in the home woke up from a nap and saw the man-- who then ran out the front door. officers found the man nearby and arrested him. (grant) on the peninsula... police in san mateo are investigating a threat made against junipero serra high school. officers say they were made aware of a social media threat towards the school on friday. they worked throughout the weekend to determine if it was credible-- and officers just announced a teen has been arrested for making the threat. lawrence karnow: another storm moved into the bay area with rain and wind. rain will move south and turn to showers. lows will be in the 50s. on the radar you can see the rain with some pockets of heavier showers. the rain is turning to snow in the sierra with more snow to come. winter storm warnings are going up on tuesday with more heavy snow forecast for the sierra. on the satellite you can see the storm coming through now but another area of low pressure off the coast will bring more rain through thursday.it will be partly cloudy tomorrow with a slight chance of a few showers. highs will be in the 60s. more rain will return

(grant) a dozen sports coaches, test administrators and others have pleaded ánot guilty to participating in a nationwide college admissions scam. the defendants arrested in the 'operation varsity blues' investigation were arraigned in boston's federal court today. the coaches are charged with accepting bribes in exchange for helping students get into school by pretending the students were actually athletic recruits. hollywood stars felicity huffman and lori loughlin... and other prominent parents charged with bribing coaches and arranging ways to cheat on

(grant) and u-s-c is thinking of revoking degrees for some alumni as fallout continues in the college admission scandal. tmz is reporting that the university has eight suspicious cases where alums used admission scam ring leader rick singer's services. attorneys say usc can and should take away the degrees of any alum found to have gotten in by fraud. the say students who claim they didn't know their parents were cheating to get them in should also lose their degree. (vicki) happening now... a southern california company is recalling avocados over possible listeria contamination. henry avocado, a grower and distributor based near san diego, says the recall covers conventional and organic avocados grown and packed in california. and they were sold across the state. there have been no reports of any illnesses. the recall was issued after a routine inspection of the packing plant-- and samples tested positive for listeria.

(vicki) some doctors are now calling for taxes on sugary drinks and soda-- in an effort to limit the sugar kids and teens are consuming. the american academy of pediatrics and the american heart association released the new policy remmendations. they are urging federal, state and local lawmakers to take action against sugary drinks. they also want more detailed nutrition labels and less marketing of sugary drinks. in the bay area-- berkeley, san francisco, oakland, and albany all have sugary drink taxes. (grant) the father of a six-year-old girl who was killed in the sandy hook elementary school massacre has died by apparent suicide. police say jeremy richman's body was found in his connecticut office building... he was the father of avielle richman... who was among the 20 children killed in the 20-12 shooting at a newtown school. police say they will not disclose any more details of the death... only that it didn't appear to be suspicious. (grant) this is the third suicide in the past week related to school massacres.... the other two were survivors of last year's attack in parkland, florida at marjory stoneman douglas high school, where 17 people died.

tonight... the c-d-c is now reporting more than 300 cases of the measles this year. the agency says 314 cases of measles have been reported across the u-s since january first. that's 46 more cases than the number reported last week. measles has been reported in 15 states... including california. two of the larger outbreaks are in washington state and new york. the disease was eliminated in the u-s in 2000 but is common in many other countries, which is how the current outbreaks started. "misinformation" about vaccines. it has a policy that prohibits users from making health claims that have not been approved or verified by regulatory agencies. the move to specifically ban anti-vaccination campaigns comes after companies like facebook, instagram, pinterest and youtube have removed similar content. health officials have blamed the outbreak of measles on unvaccinated people.
