about the beaches. good idea by the way that will be cleared out, here's the shot of alcatraz you can see the towers completely blocked out from all of this again will be watching this mixing out this is what the models have to say about that mid morning, it's already toast even at the coast looks pretty good at that. so a look at what we're talking about here temperatures for you right now we're in the 50's with some 60's. the overnight lows. dip in the 50's a lot of those inland locations we're talking about really baking this afternoon. but they're actually trailing in some spots. this morning compared to yesterday don't worry, they'll catch up rapidly. hot weather with the heat advisory covering a good piece of real estate over the east bay hills for the east bay solano county and even up to lake county a little bit elsewhere just going to be hot. although there's not an official advisory posted. today we're looking at those numbers moving right on up to the upper 90's you can see of course over the east bay hills some hundreds to be found. highs today will do about 92 for san jose 81 for oakland 74 for san francisco course,

you to take, especially after there were 3 large fires in the east bay, just this week now i have some video of some of those 3 fires to tell you about i'm very a lot of warnings that surrounded all of those now we have the mitchell fire that was burning in contra costa county and is now 100% contained. it started burning near the top of mt blow a crime for a viewer sent us this video of the fire. it burned about 4 acres near senate road, no injuries or damages to any structures have been reported. now next up the fire crews have also contained a fire aboard a bnsf railroad train in uninc rporated county contra costa county as well that spread to grass and also a part of has that response wait tuesday night according to rodeo hercules fire district officials now the blaze was first reported 10 30 in the evening near crystal road which is not far from highway 4 and the franklin canyon golf course now fire crews arrived to see the blaze. fred a few acres and

let me tell you that was something that a lot people on the freeway happened to see as they were driving as well hazmat teams, we're available there and then lastly there was a fire in napa county and it is thankfully also fully contained that fire broke out near near a lake on monday now that 4 and burned listen to this 64 acres but very thankfully is now 100% contained investigators are still figuring out the exact cause of cars of all of these fires that we've been speaking with fire officials all summer here getting ready for a very intense fire season and they have some reminders for everyone in the public. first and foremost they want everyone to be ready in case there is a fire regardless of where you live how but a go bag ready fully equipped to fly with water actually close flashlights. and some sun block for you. but they also want to remind everyone with last year being the most deadly year that fires. have cars here in the seat of california they want to make sure that everyone knows fire season is not just limited to the summer months because all

year round here with howrive re things to make sure that that bag is fully ready. all year round for now reporting live in berkeley hills christina teatro kron 4 news. >>good advice, christina thanks a lot we'll see in about an hour with an update. go to the south bay where fire crews are also on high alert because of the excessive heat this weekend. kron four's gayle ong spoke with cruz and santa clara county about their preparations and how you can help. >>santa clara county firefighters are seeing an increasing grass fires, lately they are concerned about the hot dry windy conditions that can turn a few flames into a raging inferno. hot weather has crews across santa clara county on alert. we've already seen an increase in grass fires in santa clara county, particularly on the east side of the county. >>so fire danger will be increasing this weekend with the warm weather. >>county fire captain bill murphy knows the danger. he was at the thomas fire in southern california in december 2017 and last year's deadly camp fire in butte county just thursday cruz

fully contain a brush fire east of milpitas severed 80 acres. the fire came dangerously close to homes that crews managed to save the building. this is one of several wildfires that broke out in the region in recent weeks. >>here in the brush believe still cry they're ready to crumble at the talks. >>firefighters say all the rain in the winter spring dried out fast no be keeping a nervous eye out on the brush. this weekend avoid outdoor burning if you're going to be mowing your weeds make sure you do that before 10 o'clock. >>do that when there's a little bit more humidity in the air. says just being responsible trying to be more fire safe when the weather gets hot county firefighters have been responding to grass fires in the east foot hill. >>and east of san jose areas, reporting in los gatos scale on kron 4 news. >>santa clara county is also opening cooling centers to help people deal with the heat this weekend and they're asking everyone to check on those who may be more susceptible to the high heat like the elderly homeless and

good morning back. these pay federal investigators trying to figure out what exactly sparked fire at a warehouse in oakland. kron four's dan kerman reports it's the latest in a series of construction fire sites in the bay area. >>it was about 10 thursday night when more than a half-dozen residential units under construction, caught fire on stanford avenue in oakland. >>very bad because this building is on was blown. >>neighbors say they spotted huge flames and embers coming over the fence on to their property. >>if rim was going hi, i'm off

so we set that spraying on that we and it will still and around the house because it's almost close to my house the fire started on the lower level in the front of the building. >>friday investigators with the oakland fire department and the bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms, gathered evidence at the scene but have yet to determine a cause we have no information to show any type of relationship between this particular occurred last night and past incidents that occur here and and the city of oak inn and the surrounding areas. investigators also don't know if the fire was accidental or intentionally set. but they're hopeful footage from numerous security cameras in the area, we'll shed light on that. >>i'm surprised that it was are building something that we were building. it's not the first time that a construction that's in the middle of being built gets burning down. >>this man was part of the crew that constructed the building. he says doors and windows had just arrived.

lift off. temperatures other in the 50's feels good doesn't it give everybody a little relief right now 50's up to the north bay santa rosa checking in at 51. far inland 63. antioch was 60 for livermore that's quite an accomplishment when you consider forecast highs are to be some almost 40 degrees. beyond that usually you need some dry air and dew points in the 50's kind of teetering right on that there. we've got the lower 60's along the east bay shoreline 60 going on for san jose, future cast for 2 shows the fog lifting off we don't see too much flair up happening in the mountainside little bit in the way we could say maybe of good news because that's a little that dry aspect that we speak of a little bit let's go forward with this program here and there you can see not much happens. the marine layer does snap back just a little bit temporarily at the coast. but like today that will mix out fairly quickly. so again we'll see the flare up of any thunder showers happening in the mountains there too much just some puppy cumulus into the afternoon around your

plus quickly dropping to the 90's in the 80's you can see as we finish off the balance of the week typical marty all right dave will try. let's get some national news this morning, we're just a few days away from the next democratic presidential debates and immigration is going to be one of the major issues ed lavendera has more on what we can expect. >>what happens here along the us southern border, casts a long shadow over the 2020 presidential election. and democrats are pushing their own immigration vision in the age of trump. >>the president thinks that he can turn people against immigrants in order to distract them from the things that are making it so hard to get ahead in this country right. >>with constant theme for most democrats is they are the opposite of president trump vowing to end what they see as trump using immigrants to stoke the fears of americans. >>we do to force our immigration laws is to a whole or you manage your nominations. >>about this nation of the 2

texans in the democratic field cast themselves as some of the strongest voices on this issue. in april leon castro, the former san antonio mayor who served as housing and urban development secretary under president obama was the first to unveil a detailed immigration plan. well immigration is also a constant theme of former congressman beto o'rourke's campaign stuff both as well as many others in the democratic field call for a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already in the country. citizenship for undocumented immigrants brought to the us as children known as dreamers and the funding for more border, wall construction. we want to close private for profit immigration detention centers and reform the immigration court system. castro and o'rourke have clashed over a section of the law that makes it a crime to enter the us illegally. castro wants to repeal the law making illegal entry a simple civil violation, they're using section 1325, of that act

which criminalizes coming across the border to incarcerate the president parents and then separate them. >>some of us on this stage have called to end that section to terminate it. some why congressman o'rourke have not i helped to introduce legislation that would ensure that we don't criminalize those were seeking asylum and refused talk if you're going to see for a silent. >>the detention of families over the last year has shaped the rhetoric of most democrats. elizabeth warren is like most of these candidates, calling for families not to be detained while their immigration cases are being processed. the trump administration's hardline approach on reducing the number of undocumented immigrants in the country has inspired some candidates to call for the end of the

dish will also pay 3 and a half billion dollars for some of sprint's wireless airwaves. california attorney general javier be sarah said on friday that his team is ready to go to trial on this california one of 14 states that oppose this deal. sarah said this merger would reduce competition and drive up prices. if you're giving consumers more choices, better prices and if there's healthy competition. that sounds like it would be a good deal were not convinced that the proposed merger would be a good deal for consumers and that's why we've taken action. now opponents and california specifically it could also mean the closure of more than 900 stores and the potential loss of thousands of jobs. but sprint and t mobile officials argue that the merger would give the company a better wireless network to compete with verizon and atnt which they say would be better for customers. trials expected to start at the end of the year.

morning, wee back on kron 4 news weekend federal investigators still trying to figure out exactly what sparked a fire at a warehouse in oakland. kron four's dan kerman reports it's the latest in a series of construction site fires in the bay area. >>it was about 10 thursday night when more than a half-dozen residential units under construction, caught fire on stanford avenue in oakland. >>well very about because this building is on was blown. >>neighbors say they spotted huge flames and embers coming over the fence on to their property. >>rim was going. hi, i'm off so we set that spraying on that we and it will still and around the house because it's almost close to my house the fire started on the lower level in the front of the

good. thank you dave to get to breaking news. we're following this morning police in los angeles looking for a person who shot and killed. >>an off-duty police officer, a resident reported hearing some gunshots and the city's lincoln heights neighborhood and that's where police found the officer and another man had been shot. the other man is now in the hospital but his condition is unknown this morning and there's no word just yet on what led to the shooting. los angeles eric garcetti is calling this a senseless murder. new this morning in the east bay, the open public ethics commission says mayor libby shaft campaign except th illegal donations from the east bay property owner. an investigation found that 11 west partners llc donated $2400 more to chef's campaign than the legal limit of $800. investigators are recommending chief forfeit the money to the city's general fund and also pay a $600 penalty that's less than the usual penalty of

$1000. but the commission said because it came from several different entities all owned by the same company and because her campaign cooperated with the investigation and offered to give all the money back. they felt that the lesser penalty was sufficient. a bay area judges reduce a $2 billion award in a roundup weed killer has reduced that now monsanto will have to pay a livermore couple, $86.7 million instead of $2 billion in damages. the alameda county judge upheld the verdict that monsanto's weed killer caused the couples non-hodgkin's lymphoma but the but he reduce the payment because it was much higher than constitutional limits set by the supreme court. now this is the 3rd verdict against monsanto. judges had previously ruled that roundup caused cancer in the benicia school schools, grounds keeper and also a sonoma county man. the company plans to appeal all of those verdicts. news

department has approved a mega merger between t mobile and sprint the 26 and a half billion dollar deal would combine the nation's thirdand fourth-largest wired and wireless carriers to about 92 million subscribers but the new company would still be smaller than brise an atnt now if this deal goes through it could have a major impact right here in california, but before any of that can happen a legal dispute on the deal involving several states still has to be settled now, here's what's in the agreement both companies will spin off sprint's prepaid wireless business to dish. the satellite company will pay one billion for those subscribers which includes a boost mobile and virgin mobile customers dish will also pay 3 and a half billion dollars some of sprint's wireless airwaves. california attorney general javier becerra said friday that his team is ready to go to trial on this issue. california one of 14 states opposing the deal. sarah says

we're back on kron 4 news weekend in the east bay federal investigators trying to figure out what sparked a fire at a warehouse in oakland. kron four's dan kerman reports is the latest in a series of construction site fires in the bay area. >>it was about 10 thursday night when more than a half-dozen residential units under construction, caught fire on stanford avenue in oakland.

and they were checking the 4 zone forecast and also the a's ball park forecast too. marty thank you, let's get to some breaking news. we're following police in los angeles looking for the person who shot and killed an off-duty officer, one person reported hearing gunshots in the city's lincoln heights neighborhood overnight and that's where police found the officer and another man with gunshot wounds. the other man is now in the hospital his condition unknown this morning. and police have not released any word on what led up to the shooting. eli's mayor is calling this a senseless murder. new this morning, the oakland public ethics commission says mayor libby shaft campaign accepted the legal donations from the east bay property owner. an investigation found that 11 west partners llc donated $2400. more to chef's campaign than the legal limit of $800. investigators are recommending that she forfeit the money to the city's general fund and pay a $600 penalty that's less

while trying to track down the drug they were approached by a 35 year-old police officer by the name of mario reagan. that's when investigators said the 2 teenagers stabbed and killed him. police used surveillance video to track to to to a local hotel where they were arrested. police say they later confessed to the stabbing. police also said they recovered a large knife from the suspects hotel room. there's new video showing 2 teenagers suspected of 3 murders in canada. its surveillance footage that captured 19 year-old kam mcleod an 18 year-old bryer schmegelsky at a store in saskatchewan, canada. the teenagers are suspected in the death of an american woman her boyfriend and a botanist fro british columbia. so far the search for the pair is spanned 2000 miles from british columbia to manitoba. the royal canadian mounted police are going door to door in a row earl and northern manitoba town and that is putting many neighbors on edge.
