tonight. thank you so much for joining us here tonight. during kron. 4 news at 8. i'm justine waltman. i'm jonathan mccall. video of that bold heist from last night has now been seen worldwide crooks looting and damaging the believe it on store in union square. >> at this very same time. other high-end stores like burberry. you say the wrong and bloomingdale's were also targeted today, san francisco city leaders say they've had enough kron four's. gayle ong live for us now in san francisco with the newest plan to crack down on these crimes to the police chief and the mayor both coming out today condemning what happened last night. >> justine in john and then you can expect more police officers patrolling union square. now there isn't an exact price tag on the damage is on property and the loss of items. but detectives are combing through hours of video looking for clues. saturday afternoon. the louis store temporarily closed and boarded up. >> but shoppers still visiting

the area. this was the scene around 08:00pm in san francisco's union square friday night when officers responded to looting and vandalism and high-end stores. what we saw was horrible at a press conference saturday mayor london breed praising the officers who responded and made arrest but says the damage still remains when people vandalize and commit those level of crimes in san francisco. we not only lose those businesses, we lose those jobs. >> we lose that tax revenue that helps to support our economy. that helps to support many of the social service programs that we have in the city in the first place. as of saturday sfpd chief bill scott says several people have been arrested. some of them think they got away with it. >> but i am confident i'm confident that there will be more arrests to follow chief scott says 2 firearms were seized and the person in this vehicle was armed. they took him into custody safely. >> they use the minimal amount of force that they had to use. they recovered the firearm.

they impounded the vehicle and they recovered some of the property. >> chief scott has about a dozen other businesses were burglarized and looted in a nearby union square. some crimes were prevented. we were fortunate because the city and our police department had a strong presence here in union square specifically for the holiday season moving forward. the area will be flooded with officers for the foreseeable future. we don't want people as they shop and enjoy themselves in this city. >> then the robbed as they walk to their car or to get to their car and find broken glass everywhere because their car has been broken into. >> this has to stop. >> and in wake of the retail. mayor london breed and chief bill scott say that there will be limited access to vehicles in union square and that should take effect soon. live in san francisco. gayle ong kron 4 news, thank you so much. going tonight. we now know the name of the man shot and killed by san francisco. police on friday morning.

>> the man has been identified as 41 year-old money of san francisco yesterday morning officers responded to a call of a man with a knife inside a building near folsom and 5th streets after initial contact with the money officers fired their guns hitting and killing him. police say amani is someone that is known to the department. the shooting is now under investigation. the department says a town hall meeting on what happened will be held in the next 10 days. >> a scary moment for a driver. the south bay. he says he was traveling along highway one. oh, one in sunnyvale when someone hit his car with a golf ball. >> wiseman. harry live for us now and tells us what the drivers trying to do to make the roads a little bit safer after what happened here. >> folks and this evening and he says, but this was a very, very scary moment. he says, know what happened. he just kept on driving. that is until he got home and was able to

incident live in sunnyvale amanda hari kron 4 news. >> this is video of one of the side shows that took place last night in oakland. this one happened on 100 and 6th avenue. cars are driving on the wrong side of the street. there. oakland. police say there were around 200 vehicles inside shows that took place throughout the city last night. it's unclear right now if any cars have been towed or if any arrests have been made. also in oakland yesterday hours after a wisconsin jury found kyle rittenhouse not guilty for killing 2 people. >> demonstrators in the town hitting the streets last night to protest that decision. this is a look at the demonstrations held near city hall and jack london square. police say they did not report any arrest. meanwhile, the protest in oakland among many held across america after the rittenhouse for duck

as fast for your saturday night. dry clear conditions out there. half moon bay easily. the coolest city out there right now. 47 degrees in san jose. about 8 degrees warmer in the mid-fifties berkeley and oakland 54 downtown san francisco at 57 degrees. but check out these upper 40's for most of the north bay valleys. we are tracking that lack a blanket of cloud cover cooling us down right now at 48 degrees. there and also seeing some breezy winds out of the north and east and these cool breezes are actually going to cool us down to some of the coolest overnight lows that we have seen all week long future wind gusts. we are going to notice right now already starting to increase at about 30 miles per hour sustained winds, winds out of the north and it's only going to get stronger during the overnight hours. peeking upwards of about 35 miles per hour less for most of the north bay valleys. but then it's going to change direction right along the coast at it as it extends to half moon bay.

killed. stay with kron 4 for updates as they become available. >> the contra costa county sheriff's office believes that they have found the body of adela de la pena a woman who had been missing since tuesday. the sheriff's office says around 9 o'clock this morning. someone on marine circle in bay point found an unidentified person in their backyard when officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the person was dead. and while they're still for the coroner to positively identify the person and determine a cause of death. they were confident enough to release a statement today saying that they think adela had been found. we will continue to follow this and bring you any new details as soon as they become available. >> a historic milestone for the transgender community today as president joe biden observed the international transgender day of remembrance. the president releasing a statement today saying in part, quote, transgender people are some of the bravest americans. i know. but no person should have to be brave just to live in safety and dignity today we

ocean view drive in the rock ridge area a very large response from oakland officers at the scene. we do know that oakland have sent their public information officer there to the scene to try and get more information. right now. there's no word on any injuries as a result of this shooting. kron 4 has reached out to opd to get more details. we are working the phones to gather more information. as soon as we do get those details, we will bring you updates during our prime time coverage live here on air at kron 4 and online at kron 4 dot com. >> for your money tonight. self employed californians who received unemployment benefits during the pandemic are now being required to prove that they were actually eligible for those benefits or they're going have to pay them back. the employment development department awarded benefits to nearly 3 million self employed californians. but nearly 1 million still have not fired filed the proper paperwork proving their eligibility.

for the victims. a funeral mass for pitino took place this afternoon. >> travis scott and others involved in that tragic astroworld concert that claimed the life of 10 people are now being sued for 2 billion dollars. a texas attorney this week filed a lawsuit on behalf of 282 victims of that astroworld festival, adding to the legal woes that are now being faced by travis scott and other parties involved in that concert from houston. the attorney said, quote, the defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money off this event and they still chose to cut corners, cut costs and put attendees at risk. the attorney is saying he wants to make sure that what happened at astroworld cannot happen again. the lawsuit seeks up to 2 billion dollars in damages from a long list of defendants that includes travis scott drake the event organizers like live nation apple, music and nrg stadium at least 140 lawsuits have been filed to date. >> still ahead tonight, a
