tonight. thank you so much for joining us here tonight. during kron. 4 news at 8. i'm justine waltman. i'm jonathan mccall. video of that bold heist from last night has now been seen worldwide crooks looting and damaging the believe it on store in union square. >> at this very same time. other high-end stores like burberry. you say the wrong and bloomingdale's were also targeted today, san francisco city leaders say they've had enough kron four's. gayle ong live for us now in san francisco with the newest plan to crack down on these crimes to the police chief and the mayor both coming out today condemning what happened last night. >> justine in john and then you can expect more police officers patrolling union square. now there isn't an exact price tag on the damage is on property and the loss of items. but detectives are combing through hours of video looking for clues. saturday afternoon. the louis store temporarily closed and boarded up. >> but shoppers still visiting
the area. this was the scene around 08:00pm in san francisco's union square friday night when officers responded to looting and vandalism and high-end stores. what we saw was horrible at a press conference saturday mayor london breed praising the officers who responded and made arrest but says the damage still remains when people vandalize and commit those level of crimes in san francisco. we not only lose those businesses, we lose those jobs. >> we lose that tax revenue that helps to support our economy. that helps to support many of the social service programs that we have in the city in the first place. as of saturday sfpd chief bill scott says several people have been arrested. some of them think they got away with it. >> but i am confident i'm confident that there will be more arrests to follow chief scott says 2 firearms were seized and the person in this vehicle was armed. they took him into custody safely. >> they use the minimal amount of force that they had to use. they recovered the firearm.
they impounded the vehicle and they recovered some of the property. >> chief scott has about a dozen other businesses were burglarized and looted in a nearby union square. some crimes were prevented. we were fortunate because the city and our police department had a strong presence here in union square specifically for the holiday season moving forward. the area will be flooded with officers for the foreseeable future. we don't want people as they shop and enjoy themselves in this city. >> then the robbed as they walk to their car or to get to their car and find broken glass everywhere because their car has been broken into. >> this has to stop. >> and in wake of the retail. mayor london breed and chief bill scott say that there will be limited access to vehicles in union square and that should take effect soon. live in san francisco. gayle ong kron 4 news, thank you so much. going tonight. we now know the name of the man shot and killed by san francisco. police on friday morning.
>> the man has been identified as 41 year-old money of san francisco yesterday morning officers responded to a call of a man with a knife inside a building near folsom and 5th streets after initial contact with the money officers fired their guns hitting and killing him. police say amani is someone that is known to the department. the shooting is now under investigation. the department says a town hall meeting on what happened will be held in the next 10 days. >> a scary moment for a driver. the south bay. he says he was traveling along highway one. oh, one in sunnyvale when someone hit his car with a golf ball. >> wiseman. harry live for us now and tells us what the drivers trying to do to make the roads a little bit safer after what happened here. >> folks and this evening and he says, but this was a very, very scary moment. he says, know what happened. he just kept on driving. that is until he got home and was able to
check that dash cam video. >> gulf all falling out of the sky and hitting the hood of a car driving on highway one oh, one we heard the boom wake. >> like a chef. like when the video is slow down. you can clearly see the object is a small white we got it would be at the moment. wladimir dabrowski was driving with his wife from san francisco to milpitas when the golf ball hit their car. >> he says they weren't sure exactly what happened until they saw the dent. >> and this video when i get home. >> i took yeah, i open the google and i saw that there is a cult. of course, next to the if you take a look at your screen. you can see to 37 1. oh, one run along the sunnyvale golf course. >> he says he contacted the golf course about the incident

incident live in sunnyvale amanda hari kron 4 news. >> this is video of one of the side shows that took place last night in oakland. this one happened on 100 and 6th avenue. cars are driving on the wrong side of the street. there. oakland. police say there were around 200 vehicles inside shows that took place throughout the city last night. it's unclear right now if any cars have been towed or if any arrests have been made. also in oakland yesterday hours after a wisconsin jury found kyle rittenhouse not guilty for killing 2 people. >> demonstrators in the town hitting the streets last night to protest that decision. this is a look at the demonstrations held near city hall and jack london square. police say they did not report any arrest. meanwhile, the protest in oakland among many held across america after the rittenhouse for duck
yesterday. >> so we do have some video showing just some of the protests that happened over the last 24 hours, including in kenosha. also in los angeles, portland and new york city. but other than voicing their outrage and disappointment in the criminal justice system there's nothing really that can be done. the prosecution cannot appeal the decision and cannot charge rittenhouse again. >> after the verdict protesters in los angeles called for a revolution. they say that silence about the rittenhouse verdict will only fuel momentum toward more violence reporter kimberly chang. >> was there and has the to do you the details. >> group marched through the fairfax district saturday to protest the acquittal of kyle rittenhouse, the teen who killed 2 people and injured a 3rd during a protest in kenosha, wisconsin. the case sparked debate over guns, vigilantism and racial injustice all on social media as rep cops organized protests which started at pan pacific park morley emotionally. it was such a punch in the stomach. >> yesterday when i found out

as fast for your saturday night. dry clear conditions out there. half moon bay easily. the coolest city out there right now. 47 degrees in san jose. about 8 degrees warmer in the mid-fifties berkeley and oakland 54 downtown san francisco at 57 degrees. but check out these upper 40's for most of the north bay valleys. we are tracking that lack a blanket of cloud cover cooling us down right now at 48 degrees. there and also seeing some breezy winds out of the north and east and these cool breezes are actually going to cool us down to some of the coolest overnight lows that we have seen all week long future wind gusts. we are going to notice right now already starting to increase at about 30 miles per hour sustained winds, winds out of the north and it's only going to get stronger during the overnight hours. peeking upwards of about 35 miles per hour less for most of the north bay valleys. but then it's going to change direction right along the coast at it as it extends to half moon bay.

killed. stay with kron 4 for updates as they become available. >> the contra costa county sheriff's office believes that they have found the body of adela de la pena a woman who had been missing since tuesday. the sheriff's office says around 9 o'clock this morning. someone on marine circle in bay point found an unidentified person in their backyard when officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the person was dead. and while they're still for the coroner to positively identify the person and determine a cause of death. they were confident enough to release a statement today saying that they think adela had been found. we will continue to follow this and bring you any new details as soon as they become available. >> a historic milestone for the transgender community today as president joe biden observed the international transgender day of remembrance. the president releasing a statement today saying in part, quote, transgender people are some of the bravest americans. i know. but no person should have to be brave just to live in safety and dignity today we

we're actually cooling down into the upper 40's already check out half moon bay 48 degrees, but just to its north downtown san francisco at 57 degrees. the reason why the unique microclimate forecast downtown san francisco getting a light westerly breeze. but those of you at half moon bay seeing winds out of the east cooling you down in the upper 40's as opposed to downtown san francisco. that's nearly 10 degrees. warmer. but overnight lows tonight we're going or see low to mid and upper 40's for most of our bay area valley. so pretty chilly temperatures tonight compared to last night. so make sure to bundle up high temperatures tomorrow are going to remain seasonable even along the coast and east bay shoreline mid 60's continuing upper 60's. for those of you at hayward 71 degrees of peace for fremont and san jose. so about 8 degrees above average. there in those of you in santa rosa and livermore about 5 degrees above normal. so we are going to continue to see warm temperatures for most of
our inland valleys with above average highs but then cooling down on tuesday. unfortunately, there's a storm to our north and that track not shifting south into the bay area. so we're going to notice cooler cloudier weather. but dry conditions for thanksgiving thursday. so those of you planning an outdoor event. if you want to keep it safe with your loved ones and friends and some of you may be vaccinated, others not weather is looking great. a little bit cooler than average. but overall dry weather this thanksgiving, good for travel, not great for drought. i know. yeah. so true. but 10 days from now we could see the storms are reopening, but you'll have to wait until 10 o'clock. >> okay. once again. we'll just below stopper. all right. yeah, thanks. all risa, thank you. meanwhile, we are following some breaking news right now. happening right now in the east bay. we know that right now oakland police are on the scene of a shooting. this reported shooting is happening on broadway near
ocean view drive in the rock ridge area a very large response from oakland officers at the scene. we do know that oakland have sent their public information officer there to the scene to try and get more information. right now. there's no word on any injuries as a result of this shooting. kron 4 has reached out to opd to get more details. we are working the phones to gather more information. as soon as we do get those details, we will bring you updates during our prime time coverage live here on air at kron 4 and online at kron 4 dot com. >> for your money tonight. self employed californians who received unemployment benefits during the pandemic are now being required to prove that they were actually eligible for those benefits or they're going have to pay them back. the employment development department awarded benefits to nearly 3 million self employed californians. but nearly 1 million still have not fired filed the proper paperwork proving their eligibility.
they are receiving notices stating they must prove they were really self employed our pay that money back, possibly with a 30% penalty. >> the holidays are supposed to be a happy and joyous occasion. but having to work on thanksgiving or christmas could actually ruin your happiness. new report from all state and the national journal found that 25% of americans have to work on thanksgiving christmas or new year's day or if you work in neuse probably all 3 psychologists say working on those days can take a big toll on your mental health. they also say that folks working on those days can experience increased feelings of despair and loneliness because they're away from their loved producer just sent a mayor. that's all the managers managers of the year is top having to work on the holidays. >> think of the doctors, the police officers people in that the store's strewn is not easy working the holidays. we feel you. we feel you right there with you. all right. still ahead, apple putting the pedal to the metal when the tech giant hopes to unveil its self

we're an oil pipeline spilled about 25,000 gallons of crude oil into the ocean. investigators believed at that time, an anchor from a cargo ship hit that pipeline leading to the spill as for this latest incident, it's unknown when it was first spotted. >> we are all very concerned about any potential leak or spill or anything that could impact our coast. whether it's impactful to our coastal waters, our environment, our economy or our wildlife. we want to make sure that if there's any way to remedy and stop any kind of spill that were at the ready. and i think that's what we've seen today. >> the huntington beach police say the sheen is no longer visible on water or in the air. >> for your money tonight. wal-mart is changing the way that you get your produ%ts by launching a new pilot program of drone deliveries. wal-mart has partnered with global drone company. zipline to

can blame president biden. this is the result of bad. >> policies. really targeting our fossil fuel companies. but democrats are not happy about gas prices either california congressman ted lieu accuses big oil companies of price gouging. the cost refining oreo has gone down and yet gas prices went up this week president biden called on the federal trade commission to investigate whether illegal conduct is costing families at the pump. >> as the president noted in his letter prices at the pump continue to rise refined fuel costs go down and industry profits. >> go up. white house press secretary jen psaki says the 2 largest us oil companies are on track to nearly double their net income over 2019. that's not how it should be working. that's why the president sent a letter this is a distraction. frank maki roll is with the american petroleum institute which represents the oil companies. the administration. >> ought to step back from its

>> so a recent was just talking about this there was panic at one of the busiest airports in atlanta after a gun. >> went off at the screening area. this is atlanta's hartsfield-jackson international airport. this happened this afternoon. police say the weapon was accidentally discharged when it was discovered in a passenger's piece of luggage. the gunshot led to mass hysteria as passengers tried to escape the terminal. fortunately there were no reports of any injuries about an hour and a half later all the passengers employees were given the all clear that is frightening now. >> meanwhile, funeral services held today for 2 best friends from illinois killed during that crowd surge at the astroworld music festival in houston 2 weeks ago. family and friends gathering this morning to remember jake jurinek today would have been his 21st birthday jurinek and his best friend franco patino were among 10 people killed ad astra world 2 weeks ago. rapper travis scott said that he would cover funeral costs
for the victims. a funeral mass for pitino took place this afternoon. >> travis scott and others involved in that tragic astroworld concert that claimed the life of 10 people are now being sued for 2 billion dollars. a texas attorney this week filed a lawsuit on behalf of 282 victims of that astroworld festival, adding to the legal woes that are now being faced by travis scott and other parties involved in that concert from houston. the attorney said, quote, the defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money off this event and they still chose to cut corners, cut costs and put attendees at risk. the attorney is saying he wants to make sure that what happened at astroworld cannot happen again. the lawsuit seeks up to 2 billion dollars in damages from a long list of defendants that includes travis scott drake the event organizers like live nation apple, music and nrg stadium at least 140 lawsuits have been filed to date. >> still ahead tonight, a
