but now it's put in trial for fraud. he faces 12 counts of criminal wire fraud and conspiracy against investors, doctors and patients. the same brought against holmes. just 2 months ago. a jury convicted holmes, the creator and ceo of theranos of 4 of those counts. she was acquitted for others. homes remains free on bond pending her sentencing this fall in her trial. 38 year-old holmes described 57 yearold as physically emotionally and sexually abusive this trial. gibbs boh on chance to tell his side of the story and his involvement with the company. jury selection for the trial has not been easy due to not finding jurors that are unbiased. of course, that true who lucho just came out. there's an hbo documentary about this. there's also a lot of issues with these jurors in terms of there is a work schedules, the kids and they have a lot drop out. but they've got the jurors set 6 men, 6 women along with 6 alternatives have been

charged a little bit more. >> as far as uber is concerned is 45 to $0.55 more per ride and the money will go directly to the drivers. lyft. they did not say the details but more than likely they follow competitors. so it should be in the same ballpark. let's face it. gas prices are going up and up and then the profits for the drivers keep going down and down had a chance to talk to the driver. he says anything is better than nothing. >> well, i still think that's not for the guys price should be a little more. you know. yeah, a lyft didn't say exactly how much, but you will be getting something because to offset the gas prices role. that will be great actually. yeah. looking forward to it. that's the case. how have the gas prices affected? you? it didn't affect me. i mean, before easing fill up my guys, you know? used to cost me the high prices, 50 bucks notes about 85.

morning? a group of regulators for the port of oakland are going to come up with a recommendation on whether the port needs howard terminal to keep up with cargo. and then this afternoon, the recommendation will be given to the san francisco bay conservation and development commission. and if that commission decides the port of oakland needs howard terminal. well, then they can have a new ballpark there. that's out of the picture, which means they're out of here. the commission has until july 7th to make its decision and is owner dave campbell has said if the team can get a stadium there at howard terminal terminal, then they have to leave. san francisco mayor london breed has introduced legislation to make a portion of jfk drive in golden gate park car free for ever. they shut down 3 mile stretch when the pandemic started between lincoln way in keizer drive and a lot of people enjoyed it that way. they could get around bicycles and walk without the threat of cars driving around. well, 3 city supervisors have a sponsored legislation having this become a permanent thing. and there

are pedestrian advocacy groups who love it a safe sf and walk sf. they applaud this measure, but it also faces some strong opposition of people who want cars to be back in the golden gate park area on that roadway. the full board of supervisors expected to vote on this legislation as early as april. happening today, we could learn of teachers in the mount diablo unified school district plan to go on strike this afternoon. the teachers union is expected to announce the results of a vote on whether or not to authorize that strike. well, union has been negotiating with the district over new contract for more than a year. if the union did vote to authorize the strike, it's not clear whether or not that would actually take place. happening right now. san francisco teachers are waking up at the school district headquarters because they're holding a sleep into protests. hundreds of teachers not getting their paychecks. >> the union leaders say the teachers will stay there until they've all been paid. an issue with the new payroll system is let 2 months

teachers being underpaid or not paid at all. during a rally yesterday, the school board commissioner announced that the district is looking at how this all happened in the first place. >> in april, we're going to do a examination of what happened to try to ensure that we understand how we got here and how we made colossal a mistake in terms this transition, which never should have been this way. >> the district superintendent says that right now only 56 outstanding payments remain and that he hopes to have all the issues resolved by friday. it's a 21 and another big story. police are looking for a who was wanted in connection with the murder of an 8 year-old named sophia mason. >> from hayward, mother of sofia. sophia was first reported missing last tuesday by her on it. the on says the last time she saw her

niece was last summer. and that's when she saw these bruises. she took pictures of the bruises on sophia's arm, but the girl didn't want to say anything about it. and then last friday, police found a childs body in the home of sophia's mother's boyfriend. his name is dante jackson. investigators arrested the mother, 30 year-old samantha johnson over the weekend in newark. but they are still looking for 34 year old dante jackson. in the east bay freemont. police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead. the shooting happened around 6.30, last night in the area of gatewood street west of fremont boulevard. that's where officers found the victim who was shot and killed. it is 8.22. and coming up on the kron 4 morning news. this mother is looking for answers about who murdered her son while he was camping with to tell you about a new war that she's hoping will bring some leads.

in the unknown men moved in as they tried to pry open the front door. johnson's nephew who lives downstairs, spooked them. my nephew had pounded on his interior door. >> which they mistook for gunshots and then they ran off. >> but they did not go away quietly. one of the armed men turned around and began firing at the home, at least for bullet casings were found. johnson says this attempted burglary comes after his house was broken into in 2020. the crime prompted him at the time to install security cameras and now he's added iron doors to his home. oakland police say they are investigating. johnson is thankful that no one from his family was hurt and he hopes these men do not return in a way. it was a wake-up call to just be more mindful of our first our and >> and be more protective of the people that we love and care about. reporting in oakland, dan thorn kron, 4 news.

>> and check this out the we have the video now. the smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in san jose. we told you about this monday. it happened monday morning at j and has custom jewelry in the eastridge mall. >> and the owner says there are about 9 people that use the hammers. as you can see, there broke the display cases and then got away with more than a half a million dollars worth of jewelry. >> and this is the second time this story has been hit in the last 6 months. have a police are asking for your help to solve a deadly stabbing of a homeless woman. officers identified the victim as 59 year-old on a marine's illinois ava. she was stabbed to death last friday. her case marked 6 homicide of this year. the open man has been charged in connection to last year's father's day shooting. this happened in richmond and 3 people were killed. police arrested 27 year-old enrique ramirez council last week. the contra costa county district attorney is fouth 3 counts of murder. 5 counts of attempted

murder against him and an 18 year-old investigators are not releasing the teens name at the time because of the teens age at the time of that crime. it's a 34 and local doctors are expressing concerns because they're watching and covid cases are going up. >> in parts of europe and asia, a new surge in china just trigger new lockdowns in several cities. the national health commission says china is now seeing its worst outbreak since wuhan in early 2020 local doctors here are watching there because they say what happens overseas eventually comes to the u.s. and there are many similarities of play. >> we don't have enough people vaccinated. you know, people vaccinated. we're going to go where their immunity is. no waiting. we have the 8.2. >> which is 30% more transmissible. then. >> omicron. >> now the difference is doctors say now we have drugs and, you know, treatments, we have a more immunized population in the u.s.. so we
