yesterday we had the wind but it was sunny, that is not the case today, low clouds and fog in advance of another system, so highs 50s, 60s or 70s, we will have more on this again more rain coming in tuesday wednesday in 5 mets minutes, here is sal. >> it looks nice. the traffic looks good at the bay bridge. 5:00, back to dave and pam. >> topping our news this morning, oakland police investigators stayed up all night after a triple shooting outside a motorcycle club. tara moriarty joins us now with more on what happened plus video of the shooting you will only see here on two. >> reporter: we just spoke to the mother of one of the victims, she pulled up here. behind me you can see the beauty supply store. she had been spoking with police all night long about what happened here. she came here for a barbecue

and a sideshow. you can still see the tire marks. we want to show you video we received. you can hear two gunshots and then chaos. witnesses tell us there were several shots that rang out just before 9:30, to our video captures the tail-end of that. illustrate happened on 88th and international and when police arrived they found two victims already dead. the third was rushed to the hospital. family members identify one of those as latoya kenny. we have a photo taken of her hours before she was killed. >> i still trust in the lord. i still have faith. he just called her home. you know she has two beautiful daughters left behind. >> she should not have been the one to go. >> this all happened in front of east bay dragons motorcycle club. police have no suspects in

custody. although kenny's mother says she believes there was one suspect on foot and another in a car. she had just told hefive minute before her daughter was killed. live in oakland, tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> three people were taken to the hospital after two hit-and- run accidents late last night. this is video of the accident. it all happened at 11:00 last night. chp says three cars crashed because another car was driving wrecklessly. the drivers of those car, were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, but the chp is asking anyone who saw the crashes or the wreckless driver to call them. >> 5:03. san jose police are investigating a shooting that took the life of a mother of 5. the victim a 35-year-old woman was found saturday night inside of a mercedes benz.

her nephew was a passenger in that car was slightly hurt in the shooting. this is san jose's third homicide in the last five days, the 24 hit homicide of the year. >> when we heard the gunshots i head relatives visiting and i just said get down and so you know we did. >> we were outside and if this happens again we could probably get hurt. >> the name of the woman hasn't been released yet. reportedly there are witnesses but they have not been cooperating. no arrests have been made. >> this morning president obama will take part in the annual memorial day service at arlington national cemetery. at 5:15 we will have a live report from our washington, d.c. newsroom with how troops are honored in the nation's capitol on this memorial day. >> cities all over the bay the bay are preparing to celebrate memorial day. allie rasmus is in san ramon

with a look at events there. >> reporter: we are in san ramon park where an hour from now we will watch them launch balloons. the event is free although you do have to pay 5 dollars for parking. there is professional kite flying, arts and crafts booths as well as kite making for kids, this is one of the several events going on today in the bay area. one of the big events is the presidio memorial day ceremony in san francisco. this is video of last year event. it starts at 10:30 this morning. across the bay in the north bay area there is also a memorial cemetery -- a memory ceremony at the navel navel cemetery.

there are other events happening today and we can't list them all and we will be checking back in when they launch these balloons. allie rasmus, ktvu channel two news. >> for more information on the ceremony at the presidio look under the right now section of our website ktvu.com. >> 5:06. family members and friends who lost loved ones in the 1978 jonestown massacre in guana came to dedicate a memorial. four plaques contain the names of the 918 people who died in jonestown in the juke jungles of guana.

two of them were his relatives. this is the first time he had met others who lost loved ones. >> all that time because the pain is just like yesterday. it ain't something that -- and plus i knew that i would never see my daughter again. >> that memorial includes the name of the reverend jim jones, the man who ordered his followers to commit suicide by drinking poison. detours for pedestrians begins tomorrow. for the next four months pedestrians and bikers will be sharing the eastern sidewalk. 15,000 cyclists owned walkers cross it on busy days, once the western sidewalk is finished crews will do the eastern side, then it will be closed for four months. >> 5:0sive :07 is the time. let's go over to sal for a look at traffic. >> it is doing well.

we are expecting it to stay that way, we are just here in case something bad happens. westbound 80 looks good to the macarthur maze. getting to the bay bridge toll plaza, of course eastbound they have done that work so when you come from san francisco to oakland there is a detour on the touchdown. if you are not paying attention you might not notice it, it is smooth and not affecting traffic. also in the south bay off to a nice start on 280 northbound up to highway 17. let's go to steve. >> what is new? just one guy talking but, boy, i tell you, the fog forms just a hint of any kind of heat in the valley. higher clouds towards the north bay. clouds and maybe by tonight cloudy. some sun here for a while. the fog is -- it is moving in.

it is close. the system right there starting to move over us. you are saying that is it. that is it. 40s santa rosa and others, redwood city and everyone else is close, livermore 58. the city forecast yesterday had 63, today we cool you down to 60, what is average? 66. only missed a record low on sunday by one. dropped to 47 degrees, which is really cold. west-southwest or a southwest wind or a westerly breeze, sfo out to fairfield, travis and also vacaville, trust me, believe me a southwest wind is making it to vacaville that is a sea breeze. santa rosa did have a south wednesday and cloud cover. one system moves out, weak high pressure moves in. they don't have a lot of moisture but they sure keep us on the cool side well below average. another low drops in late tonight. more likely on tuesday though. so high clouds and low clouds in advance of that system, and a possibility of like hit and

miss garden variety showers into tuesday and wednesday again. low clouds, sun then breezy to windy at times, 15, 30 plus miles per hour, we had a warm up yesterday. not much today. if anything i think we cool it down. a lot of 60s in areas that should be closer to 80. we do get a break after wednesday. thanks, steve. thursday and friday, i am really concerned about the weekend though, that could be another round of clouds and maybe rain, pam and dave. >> boy, well, chicago's o'hare airport is back to normal this morning, 450 flights were cancelled yesterday because of severe thunderstorms. the average flight delay was three hours. at chicago's midway airport no flights were cancelled but many had a 40 minute delay there. forecasters say the worst of the storm has passed. tornado warnings cover parts of michigan also hit hard by bad weather. take a look at what happened in

fallerville. strong winds knocked down power lines. people were forced to cut their way out. many were shocked by the strength. >> i went through this before but not like this. this was the granddaddy. >> thousands still have no electricity. crews are working around the clock to restore the power. despite all of the damage no serious injuries have been reported. in joplin, missouri, the grim traffic of identifying victims continues even as memorials are held for the people confirmed dead. president obama attended yesterday's memorial service and he praises people for coming together and taking care of each other and he toured some of the areas hardest hit. he assured people his administration will be there to help long after the cameras are gone. >> 5:11. coming up a dramatic decision

this morning president obama will take part in the annual memorial day satisfy at are link tong national cemetery. or reporter sandra endo standing by live in washington to tell us how american troops are being honored, sandra. >> reporter: dave i can tell you president obama later this morning will by at are lipping tong national cemetery and will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns. this an annual event as you mention and he is also hosting a breakfast at the white house before hand to meet with family members of fallen service members as well. later today he has a whole host of events to remember this day but also at arlington national cemetery the headstones are decorate with red, white and blue, all for this day of remembrance. president obama later today, dave, will be announcing his new joint chiefs of staff, that is expected to be martin

dempsey. also the memorial events are not just only for today. they have been in the nation's capitol all weekend long as you see there rolling thunder, rolling its way here to the nation's capitol for its all rolling thunder ride for freedom event. that is where defense secretary robert gates addressed the crowd. >> for those of us gathered here, it is an affirmation of our commitment to remember those heroes who have fought and die or been captured in defense of our nation. not just this weekend but every day of our lives. we have a sacred obligation to those who have born the heavy burden in the past. the men and women now protecting us on the front lines gain comfort in knowing if today they are missing or captured we will not rest until they are welcomed home. >> reporter: the list of events going on, later this afternoon

a moment of silence, of course a lot of people looking forward to this, the parade taking place later this afternoon. >> sandra endo there in washington, d.c. this morning the government of germany announced it will shut down all nuclear power plants in the country by 2022. antinuclear demonstrators hung banners outside the all night meeting where the decision was made in berlin. last year the chance lord chancellor pushed to keep it running, but that decision was reversed in the wake of japan's nuclear disaster. a new poll there showed it caused people to lose faith in their government. they do not trust information from their government about the nuclear crisis, they say the company running the plant is

not doing a good job. >> phillip and nancy garrido will be sentenced this week. they will spend the rest of their lives in prison after being sentenced thursday. after the sentencing the judge will hold a hearing on whether to release grand jury transcripts. jaycee dugard was kidnapped and held captive for 18 years, they kidnapped here as she walked to a bus stop near antioch. a hayward man is dead after his car plunged over an embankment along 580. this happened yesterday afternoon right near the foothill road exit in dublin. 67-year-old man died at the hospital shortly after this accident. still not clear what caused the crash. >> 5:18 is the time right now. let's go back over to sal. hopefully no big problems for the roads. not a lot of people out there yet. >> pam, i am sitting here, dave, pam, and not doing much.

temperatures 50s, 60s close to the coast, 60s and 70s inland. you get a good look at the advancing low clouds, dropping down out of the northwest heading in our direction because there is another strong low, which is on its way. 40s or low 50s for everybody, so another cool morning. no doubt about it. the lows aren't running too much below normal. it is the highs way below average, fog, sun, breezy for the city, continued cool, should be 66. we are only going 60 after yesterday's 63. west wind at 18. sfo, west-southwest travis or fairfield 16, southwest nine at vacaville. that there is a sea breeze right there. yes, sir. and one low drops down. right there it is. doesn't have a lot of moisture but will keep the theme going and maybe some of these hit and miss showers. clouds come in late tonight and into tuesday. that low will park it there through wednesday. it is really cold for this time of year. then as they move across the country they enhance the severe

weather, the ingredients are in place, for us a continuation of what we have had for a month. cool conditions, some of the last warm weather we had was may 5th. clouds sun, breeze, cool for many, 50s, 60s and 70s with a breeze, temperatures morgan hill and gilroy 70s, livermore 67, mountainview 68, redwood city 67, tuesday, wednesday, more clouds and light showers. just kind of continuation as we said of the cooler and breezy, a break on thursday and friday but there could be interesting weather moving in on the weekend. it will be cooler again. >> international stock markets are mostly higher but on a day of light trading in part because of the u.s. holiday overnight in asia some of the major indices dropped slightly as a stronger japanese yen all right the country's exporters, shares in toyota, honda and

before it gets better. yesterday four new fires started and more than 600 acres have been burned. lightning is believed to be responsible. the u.s. forest service could face restrictions, the issue that fire retardant they drop on wildfires, rate now they drop about 28 million gallons a year but environmental groups are worried about the long-term damage. they are asking the fire service not to drop fire retardant on or near waterways and expand the areas already off-limits. >> the public broadcasting service says it has been hacked and that a recent story on its website is proof. a link to a pbs web story says that rapper is alive. he was shot. the group has claimed responsibility for the false

story. in the last month they have hacked several media organizations. they say they do it for enter entertainment. shawn kingston is in the hospital after crashing his jet ski. they were taken to the hospital yesterday. officials say it appears the jet ski crashed when it went under a small bridge but the accident is still being investigated. celebrity website tmz reports he is in critical condition. best known for his hit song beautiful girls. >> 5:27. a memorial day weekend barbecue here in the bay area broke out into violence. a triple shooting outside a oakland motorcycle club led to a firght night police investigation and the mother of two caught in the cross fire. >> police are calling it a puzzler, a 26-year-old nursing student hasn't been seen or heard from in days. the big clue that could lead to

news last flight. two people are dead, one in critical condition after someone opened fire near the east bay dragon's motorcycle club on 88th avenue and international boulevard. it happened just before 9:30 last night. police found the victims when they arrived at the scene. two were already dead. the third had to be taken to highland hospital. family members identified one of the persons killed as 28- year-old latoya kenny. >> she don't need to die. she didn't need to die. she has too much to live for. >> it is okay. she is in a better place. you know i am not happy with how she went but i trust in the lord to take care of her and take her home with him. >> oakland police have no suspects and no one is in custody. >> police are searching for a 26 year old nursing student. michelle le hasn't been seen or

heard from since friday night. she left the hospital friday night. she told her classmates she would be back for a rotation before driving to reno but she never came back. police found her car a few blocks away. they are calling that suspicious because the car was locked. >> because if there was you criminal intent they are not normally going to lock up a car before they leave so it is a puzzler, the whole gamut, the whole spectrum of possibilities right now. >> police are trying to get a search warrant for her suv, hopefully to develop more evidence and information. >> a public ceremony will be held this afternoon in danville to celebrate the life of 15- year-old allison bayless. she disappeared last monday. authorities say it now appears she took her own life. the highway patrol says video cameras showed her walking on to the golden gate bridge but

never showed her walking off. today a ceremony will be held at the community presbyterian church in danville at 2:00. >> 5:33. this morning president obama will take part in the memorial day service at are arlington national cemetery. before heading to the cemetery mr. obama is expected to name martin dempsey as the new chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. admiral mike mullin is stepping down from that position in september. dempsey commanded u.s. troops in iraq. he later led training efforts for iraqi forces. >> this week pg&e crews will be getting ready for high pressure pipeline testing in two bay area cities. that testing involves filling pipes with water at a pressurized level higher than usual. first crews need to vent the

gas from those lines. that will happen tomorrow in newark and then on wednesday in san jose. the actual testing should be done later this week. pg&e is testing the lines in response to the san bruno pipeline explosion. >> 5:34. gasoline prices keep dropping this holiday season. during the state -- around the state drivers are pay aping ing a little more than 4 dollars for a gallon, that is also the case in san jose and oakland. in san francisco drivers are averaging 4.15 for regular. that is down 7 cents from last week. every place all over california gas is costing about a dollar more than we paid last memorial day weekend, even after prices had gone up for the start of the summer travel season. >> there have been fewer fatal crashes and dui arrests on bay area roads this memorial day

weekend compared to last year. 129 impaired drivers were arrested, compared to 150 last year. chp says there have been no fatalities so far this weekend. last year there was one. maximum enforcement efforts will continue until midnight. a dui crack down in santa clara county led to 47 arrests on friday and saturday. 15 law enforcement agencies were involved, three dui related crashes were reported but no injuries. last year 73 arrests were made over that same two day period. >> your time now 5:36. residents in san ramon will see something unusual in the sky this memorial day. ktvu's allie rasmus live out there to tell us about a celebration scheduled for today. >> all right. that was allie rasmus. a technical problem, which we will get fixed later on.

because of the story you just mentioned. westbound bay bridge looks good. if you do have to go to work and i know that most people have the day off but not everyone does. some people do still go on this monday and it is a nice drive across the bridge into san francisco. and in san francisco it has been very nice. by the way in case you are wondering about that bay bridge work, it was completed over the weekend. i drove across the bridge myself this morning. you can't even really notice it. it is smooth getting down to the oakland side eastbound bay bridge. northbound 280 traffic is moving along pretty well up to highway 17. it is 5:38. let's go to steve. >> sal, you know what is not smooth? >> tell me. >> 880 between high street and the oakland airport. >> pot hole action. >> a little bit there yeah, good morning, low clouds and here they come again, why? another low is dropping in. it has been this way for a month now. yes, i know we are chose to june but there are signs things

will happening there for a while. clouds increase, low overcast. low cloudiness already making a good surge inland. higher clouds towards the north bay. the low cloud deck continues to move in, that equals cooler. what do you mean cooler? a warm up yesterday, we go right back down again. low clouds being pushed in by a low up there and some of those higher clouds, just thin stuff but they are there, 40s and 50s. west at 18 at sfo, south- southeast san jose, southwest, fairfield, southwest nine out to vacaville out to the sacramento valley. there is a sea breeze in place, the low right there, comes another one of the it will park over us tuesday and wednesday. they don't look like much but this time of year they have cold air so we get hit and miss showers. i don't want to say rain, very close to what we had probably on saturday. there goes one, that left snow.

here comes the next one. there might be a stronger one by the weekend. a typhoon will bear watching towards the end of the week. for today sun, some clouds but then here comes that system for tuesday and wednesday, that means more clouds, cooler and light rain. low clouds today, sunny, breezy, to windy at times. a lot of 60s or 70s in areas that should be in the 80s, that is not happening. 50s and 60s for many today. we are used it to by now, because that has been the pattern. cool, breezy, off and on rain possible, a break thursday and friday, concerned about the weekend as another system drops in. >> steve, thanks for the heads up. 5:40. we toll you this is a special day in san ramon, residents there will see something unusual in the sky, let's go to

allie rasmus to tell us what is ahead. >> reporter: dave, something unusual and very colorful. we will see it in this field here. they are getting ready to lunch hot air balloons. 15 minutes ago we saw trucks pulling up, those trailers are where the balloons are. they are supposed to launch at 6:00 but you can see it is foggy. if this fog doesn't clear up then this balloon launch could be delayed. we will continue to keep an eye on it and keep you updated. this is part of the city's annual wind festival here in san ramon. it is free, although parking is 5 dollars, it features professional kite flyers, arts and crafts vendors and kite making activities for kids, it is not the only thing happening in the bay area. there are dozens of events, including this event at the

presidio. this is video of last year's event. it starts starts at 10:30 this morning. a half-hour before the parade starts there will be a special ceremony honoring japanese american world war ii veterans, elsewhere other events, in vallejo, a ceremony at 9:00 and in venetia at 10:00 and a fly over with jets, in oakland at mountain view cemetery a ceremony and 21 gun salute. the 90th year for the ceremony there. in alameda at veterans park a service at 11:00 a.m. back out here live we are waiting for the hot air balloons to lunch. you can see a group of people kind of putting together their game plan. again they are waiting for the fog to clear up, we will check

60s and 70s, partly sunny skies but another breezy day as well. >> welcome back, good morning to you, here is a quick look at some of the top stories we are following for you right now at 5:45. police are searching for the gunman responsible for a triple shooting that left two people dead and another in critical condition. it happened last night on 88th avenue during a barbecue and a sideshow. the investigation continues. california highway patrol looking for the person responsible for two hit-and-run accidents late last night. they say one car was driving wrecklessly on westbound 580 in richmond. that caused three other cars to crash. several celebrations are being held all over the bay area marking this memorial day. a variety of parades and events planned honoring soldiers, the men and women who served the united states. >> an attack outside of an italian military compound in afghanistan has wounded five soldiers. one of them is in grave

condition this morning. at least four people were killed when that bomber blew up a car this morning in the western part of the country. the italian soldiers are participate in in nato's mission. it is one of 7 areas scheduled to be handed over to afghan control in july. also in afghanistan u.s. troops are remembering their fallen comrades. members of the army stationed in kabul held a candlelight vinal vigil to recognize the members killed there since the war began. >> we are here to recognize them. they are members. we thank them for that. >> over in iraq more than 4400 american service members have died since 2003. >> time now 5:47. an investigation is underway in southern california after a sheriff's deputy killed a man for grabbing his taser. this happened yesterday in the
