raining. here is sal. steve, good morning. we are looking at san francisco. southbound 101. looking pretty good. also this morning we are looking at the bay bridge toll plaza. that traffic is moving along nicely. now let's go back to the desk. we begin our 5:00 hour with a deadly overnight accident in oakland. police are questioning an suv driver that struck and killed a bicyclist. ktvu tara moriarty joins us from oakland police headquarters. >> reporter: investigators are trying to figure out exactly how this accident played out. it could determine whether or not charges will be filed against the driver. it happened last night around 10:00. when a driver in an suv struck and killed a bicyclist. the female driver told ktvu she was backing up when she hit the person in the crosswalk. now the victim was taken to the hospital where he died either enroute or once he arrived.
the distraught driver could be seen walking around in her bathrobe while investigators took pictures of the accident. a traffic signal went in years ago after a string of deadly accident there is. this happened one block after a corner liquor store and happened in the crosswalk which could play a big factor. live in oakland i'm tara moriarty. 5:02. a sad vigil in concord focusing on a man and his nine-year-old daughter hit and killed by a speeding car. they were riding bicycles at the time. alex savage is the -- alex savidge is there right now. >> reporter: a teenage driver is in custody while the community shows its love and support for this family. we will show you you the flowers and candles at this
vigil. we want to show you new photos we have this morning of the two victims. soliaman nuri and his nine-year- old daughter were hit and killed by an out of control suv that jumped the curb here. last night a couple hundred people turned out at a vigil. nuri was a soccer coach. his daughter a member of the local girl scout troop who's friend describe as polite and sweet. >> very happy child. she would hug anybody that would give her one. >> reporter: also in attendance last night widow that came to see the spot where her husband and daughter were killed. the bay biothat was driving that suv is in juvenile hall. they are also checking that teenagers cell phone records to figure out if he may have been on the phone at the time of his
crash. live this morning in concord alex savidge. one week has pass the since the deadly mass shooting at oikos university. a memorial stands outside that school. members of a korean church laid flowers at that memorial. meanwhile the easter sermon at the methodist church covered the shooting and the responsibility so -- suspect juan go is a -- the single engine sun plane went down yesterday morning in a field. firefighters found two bodies in the wreckage. the victims names have not been released. a local tv station reports witnesses heard the stunt plane performing aerobatics just before it crashed. your time now 5:04.

in the morning. chp was first on the scene. quickly followed by firefighters and police. there are no reports of any injuries. 5:30 let's go back to the desk. all right sal. an investigation continues this morning into a deadly overnight accident in oakland. the driver of an suv who struck and killed a bicyclist is being questioned by the police. all of this happened just after 10:00 last night. ktvu tara moriarty is live at police headquarters. >> reporter: investigators wrapped up their investigation -- police wrapped up their investigation at the scene very early this morning. and now the next step will probably be whether or not this case should head to the da. now this accident happened last night as we said around 10:00 at the corner of 78th and bancroft when someone driving an suv struck and killed a bicyclist. the distraught female driver could be seen walking around in
her bathrobe while investigators took pictures of the accident. she told ktvu she was in reverse backing up when she hit the person in the crosswalk. the crosswalk could play a key role in determining whether the driver was at fault or not. one block before the site of the crash a traffic accident went in weeks ago. neighbors say that motorists tend to speed around bancroft. live from oakland i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. police in san francisco are in facing two separate accidents along the embarcadero that sent eight people to the hospital. they happened both at 4:30 yesterday afternoon. one crash was at the embarcadero and brandon street if. a drunk driver sham into a park sedan. the suv struck a third car before flipping over.
>> a lot of people stopped just to talk to the police. that's how upset everybody was. >> the second crash was near harrison street. the driver of a red car made an illegal left turn in tonight of a muni bus. there were three injuries in that accident. no one was seriously hurt. san francisco police are investigating whether some graffiti attacks on homes were racially motivated. allie rasmus is live in the sunset district with more on the niche of the vandalism. >> reporter: the graffiti includes racial slurs. they have been spotted in three locations. this tag is right in front of a private residence in this neighborhood. it's accrues the street from golden gate park. as the morning goes this will get very busy. neighbors reported noticing the
graffiti starting on sunday morning. some of the locations residence have already covered up the racial slurs with card board. investigators want to find out who is behind it and what the motivations are. live in san francisco allie rasmus. the u.s. navy will pay to help those effected by that jet crash into a virginia beach apartment complex. they met with some of the residence yesterday. the navy will make payments today. compensation begins a the $2300 -- begins at $2300 but more will go given to those that have families. a navy jet scratched into the building the pilots ejected. despite the damage, no one was killed. we are finding out more

police she was pulling out of a driveway when she hit that cyclist. a candle light vigil was held last night after a father and his daughter was killed while riding their bike. >> someone has been tagging racist graffiti on homes. only a few homes were effected but they are investigating. 5:43. jury selection begins in the trial of the man accused of killing two members of the singer and actor of jennifer hudson's family. he is the estranged husband of hudson's sister. he is charged with killing hudson's mother and brother. he is also accused of kidnapping and killing hudson's
seven-year-old nephew. he flew into a giant jealous rage. we have new information about one of the men accused in several shootings in tulsa, oklahoma. jake england and alvin watts shot five black people early friday. three of them have died. we learned england used a racial slur in a facebook post before the shootings. while police are not sure if the shootings were racially motivated. >> i think that somebody that committed these crimes were very upset with black people. >> investigators do say revenge appears to be a factor. the arraignment is set for 7:00 a.m.. 5:44. back here in the bay area marin county authorities investigating home made bombs that were found at a middle school. now police found four devices yesterday at a baseball field on the campus of white hill middle school in fairfax.
three bombs were pressurized water bottles that hadn't exploded yet. a fourth bottle had partially ruptured. the size and the location of those devices indicate they were designed to make a lot of noise rather than cause destruction. residence living in san francisco's polk neighborhood will have a chance to give their opinion about the noise in that area today. some say polk street between bush and post is a problem area because of the high concentration of bars. businesses have tried staggering their closing hours trying to prevent big crowds from spilling on the streets all at the same time. today's meeting begins at 4:00. it will be at the public library. republican presidential candidate newt gingrich is talking about his run for the white house in the past tense. gingrich says running for president turned out to be much harder than he thought it would be. and his campaign is operating on a shoe string with more than
