okay. i want to show you highway four is slow through pittsburgh bay points and 680 down to san ramon looks good but in dublin pleasantly thin is slow from 580 interchange down to the southern end of pleasanton. and in the south bay, traffic is slowing on the major freeways. let's go back to the desk. developing news at san francisco. police spent hours researching this morning with a call about a home invasion robbery late last night and it ending with the suspect in custody. >> winds kristin cabin is in the neighborhood you have been out for hours. the exchange of gunfire was with one of the suspects good morning. >> reporter: good morning. at this time investigators are looking for other suspects and you can see officers came out moments ago where the home

invasion occurred earlier investigations are winding down but there are crime scene investigators here and i spoke with a neighbor who tells me this is an active seen overnight she saw neighbors swarming the area with automatic rifles looking for the suspects. investigators and officers are on scene examining the home where it started. investigators were called to the scene for the home invasion 11:00 last night and when they arrived officers approached the front door of the home and that is when they say the suspects bailed out of the back of the home. the police will not say how many people they are looking for at this time but at least one of those suspects fired a gun at the officer's one officer fired úmultiple suspects were running at that time through backyards hopping over fences and officer same and that chase they were able to catch one suspects in the home invasion and officers issued a shelter in place for the area locking down the neighborhood. the other suspects managed to get away. >> the search was called off of the subjects and they made a search of the area and

established a perimeter and searched the area. the suspects were able to get out of the perimeter before it was locked down. >> reporter: one of the occupants of the home was injured in the initial home invasion. we heard that is not life- threatening. officer say do not they believe the suspect propose an ongoing risk with suspects targeted the home in particular. officers are not telling me why they believe the home was targeted or what if anything, the suspect managed to get away with and no word on how many suspects they are looking for. the best source of information may be the suspect they have in custody. police are working to figure out if the man in custody is the gunman and they are not saying if the firearm has been recovered. you can see officers breaking down from the scene. this is a good indication that the initial on scene investigation is starting to wind down. it's the home down the block where the investigation has

freeway. alex savidge is at fifth and embarcadero with more on the problems of fires at the encampments. >> reporter: good morning, oakland has seen an uptick in the number of fires breaking at homeless encampment across the city of the past few months. this morning the fire started at what was a camp set up under eight 880, south of oak street people have been living here until months ago is what it sounds like. firefighters do not believe people were living here now. this was the second fire at the same encampment over the past few months according to the battalion chief. flames went up into the air earlier this morning when the fire started around five back in the flames reached the freeway above. this was tough for firefighters to get access to the fire. it's behind the railroad tracks they had to drag lines across the railroad tracks meaning shutting down train service for a time.

morning on two 7:23 am police in morgan hill accused -- arresting a man accused of stabbing his wife and children. a neighbor called 911 on saturday afternoon saying a man and woman were yelling at each other in another apartment on -- when the police arrived they found eduardo ramirez in a parking lot stabbing himself. they used a taser to subdue him

and then they found his injured family members inside all of them are expected to survive. investigators say ramirez was becoming increasingly despondent before the attack but they are investigating what may have led to it the defense is said to call its first witness in the penalty phase of the sierra lamarr murder trial. prosecutors wrapped up the case on thursday against garcia- torres with testimony by sierra lamarr's parents. sarah's body has not been found but garcia-torres was found guilty on all counts including first-degree murder for the 15- year-olds disappearance and the attempted kidnapping of three other women. the jury is deciding whether to recommend the death penalty or life in prison. a nonprofit group plays -- claims of state officials undermining a ballot measure by voters last year. people convicted of nonviolent sexual crimes are not getting the benefits upon 57 and their rights are being restricted. that is because the inmates are not getting the chance to have

commute. 732, let's go back to the desk. san jose police are searching for whomever stabbed a san jose state football player over the weekend. ktvu's allie rasmus, a spokesperson give you an update on his condition. >> reporter: she says chad miller is improving although he's in intensive care at valley medical center in san jose. university officials are with them at the hospital saying he's conscious and was able to communicate and is expected to recover. chad miller is a junior at san jose state playing a safety for the spartans team. these are photos and his uniform from a personal instagram account. next to the pictures are comments he wrote about working hard to do well in football long term and order to help the family financially in vallejo. late saturday night miller was a group of friends enjoying downtown san jose, at a club or

bar when they got into an archaic -- altercation with another group and miller ended up stabbed. university officials say it's not clear whether his friends were other football players or other students, san jose police are in charge of the investigation into what happened. it happened off campus downtown and reached out to pull that's police investigators have not heard back but as far as we know no one has been arrested for this crime. university spokesperson says team members of the football team numbers of the athletic department are declining a request to speak with the media this morning and they are asking for privacy and so was miller's family. it's finals weeks on the san jose state university campus so a spokesperson says there was no football related off-season practices or events scheduled this week. back to you next allie rasmus san jose state. 7:34 am. san bruno man accused of killing and dismembering a neighbor is back in court today.

50 rolled david stubblefield accused of shooting his neighbor benjamin bruegel in march after arguing over a space heater. he cut bruegel's body to try to get rid of it using chemicals. during the last court appearance, he pled not guilty to several charges including homicide and robbery and burglary. is being held on $10 million bail. house fire julissa discovery of a marijuana grow operation. the fire started at 2:00 yesterday afternoon cell phone video from a neighbor shows smoke coming from the home. firefighters say they know it was a marijuana grow house because there were bars on windows doors barricaded and meters were tampered with. after they forced their way in the home firefighters found marijuana plants and about every room. >> several rooms full. they took a single family

got a large fire down along 880, alex savidge has more near fifth part of the problem in oakland. >> reporter: there's been an uptick in the number of fires breaking out at homeless encampment's in the city recently. this morning's fire started at a camp set up just underneath 880 south of oak street and people have been living here until a couple months ago. according to firefighters, this was the second time there was a fire here at this encampment this morning huge flames shot into the air reaching the freeway above. this fire started after 5:00 in the morning, tougher firefighters to get access. the had to drag hose lines across the railroad tracks to put the fire out. that meant shutting down train service for about one hour or so. battalion chief at the scene says at this point it is unclear how the fire may have
