and the fire investigators are still looking for the cause, but they do believe it started in the back and between two properties, and spread with the aid of those tall cypress trees. the neighbor said they thought it was good to be much worse. >> reporter: neighbors feared this fire could destroy their neighborhood. >> i said this cannot be good because of the big black smoke. >> the trees caught immediately and they said there was a lot of gas and propane tanks back there. >> reporter: the back fence and trees were burning just as this man was pulling into the driveway. said all i saw was black smoke and i had to run into the house. i got there and i got all of the kids out and i went upstairs and got the neighbors out. that was it. it was so hot back there that when i dress myself, 10 seconds later i was dry after pouring water on myself. >> we are determining which backyard it started in and once it reached the role of the

both side of the street and luckily nobody was her. a billionaire donated $500,000 to san jose today. this billionaire gave that money to the fire department and will allow them to install smoke alarms in mobile homes free of charge to people who are living in them. wall -- this man previously donated money to help the people of the kindly -- coyote creek flooding. the coast guard rescued four boaters after the fishing boat ran aground. the boaters called authorities around the clock a.m. saying their boat has ran aground and they had a diabetic passenger on board. it happened near the suisun slough and when the residents were not able to tow the boat, they airlifted to of the cruise to a hospital in napa. and authorities say it was now likely dry rot that caused a

backyard deck to collapse in oakland yesterday. we flew over the home and you can see the damage. the wooden deck fell from the second story and at least two people were hurt. the oakland fire department took the two victims to the trauma center and were hospitalized with moderate injuries. one victim banged her head. the alameda county coroner is working to identify body that was found in the marshlands in fremont. a hiker spotted the body in the mud flats yesterday afternoon. it was recovered by the water rescue crew. here is a picture that the department sent us. it shows the specialized propeller driven boat used for the recovery. the male body was clothed and had been there for some time. the discovery of the body drew
