really wednesday into thursday is the main rain system but the first of three is making its move. it's on the north coast producrain wn here. most of you if you're taking off now, you should be fine. that's for the morning commute and lesher toward the north in sonoma county or lake county and northern napa county. the rainfall looks rather impressive as we go into saturday. there will be three systems. wednesday night into thursday is the main system. this one will be bad. maybe an inch for some. 30s and 40s for most of the temperatures. a little bit of patchy fog but east bay temperatures in the 40s and 50s. the system will drop south and weakened as it moved south but everyone will get some rain but you may need to wait until this afternoon toward the south bay. the rain will make it just later rather than sooner. 60s for those temperatures. i'm hearing chatter? >> i have my here. let me turned them down.

good morning, everyone. let's go to solano county and talk about the commute on 80 westbound. traffic is moving along well from vallejo to hercules. no major problems if you are driving through. there is a roadwork but it's not causing a big delay. you may see it as you drive from hercules in tulsa brontk in richmond. no major problems driving into richmond. from vallejo to richmond it's a good commute. no problems this morning from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic is light. this morning, san francisco police are trying to get video that may help them determine what caused a speeding car to slam into an apartment building. this happened on taraval street at the corner of 24th and temporarily disrupted muni service. no one in the building was seriously hurt . ambe

driver. >> i saw it go by the window really fast. like a bullet. really fast. and then bam. >> reporter: this witness says it was around 315 when she found the car speeding by her bar. she estimates the driver was going about 50-60 miles per hour when it crashed into another vehicle going in the same direction. before plowing into a four unit apartment building steps from her business. >> i'm scared. i have a corner building. i'm just so happy it's not my building. it's so scary. >> reporter: police say the driver is a woman in her 70s and the passenger is her daughter in her 50s. fire crews executed the women from the carwere conscious and taken to the ital- threatening injuries. the property nelives in the building and was ng the >> we just had to evacuate to

be safe and make sure there was no gas, no anything like that. >> reporter: two hours after the crash, a city inspector determined the building is safe to inhabit. the crash damage the basement which the property owner says is used for storage. many other residents cleaned up the debris. >> no one was killed. everyone is healthy. all we will do is fix it and move on. it will be okay. >> i hope those two people are okay. >> reporter: police say the cause of the crash may be driver error or she may have a medical condition. residents have patched up the damage temporarily. police tell me a driver traveling the opposite direction may have capture the crash on his dashcam. investigators are hoping to retrieve the video. amber lee, ktvu fox 2 news. a woman was arrested, suspected of a hit-and-run that killed a one-year-old boy from richmond. this happened over the weekend near south 17th.

a little boy was rushed to a hospital but later died. he has been identified as noah courtier of sacramento. police say the driver left the scene but was arrested a few miles away. sight of him and he ran into the street today mississippi voters are deciding the last u.s. senate race of the midterm. they are choosing between a white republican backed by president trump's and an african-american democrat who was agriculture secretary under president bill clinton. the race gained national attention after republican candidate cindy hyde-smith praised the supported by saying she would attend a public hanging if the supporter invited her. back at home, police in antioch are looking for whoever spray-painted hateful messages and symbols on buildings, cars and churches in the city's downtown area. henry lee shows us surveillance video investigators hope will lead them to the vandals.

today, a group of san francisco city employees will speak out about the alleged racism they say they face within city departments. the san francisco board of supervisors will hold a hearing this afternoon about the issue. part of the board held a hearing several months ago about alleged discrimination in the workplace. the service employees international union says it's not enough diversity in hiring. they will hold a news conference today before the board hearing. the man accused of killing 18-year-old neil wilson at an oakland bart station is due in court today. john lee cowell is due in court to have his plea hearing today. he is facing charges of murder and attempted murder after allegedly stabbing both wilson and her sister, as they were getting off the train at the macarthur bart station. the man was arrested at the pleasant hill bart station after police passenger. ntucky sheriff's

department is leading the investigation into the ive. the former bay area radio host was a reported missing two weeks go. he was last seen in western kentucky not far from where he lives in illinois. investigators say the san francisco native may be disoriented and has been showing signs of dementia. the sheriff believes he baby staying with from -- staying with someone who has not heard he was reported missing. the crash new york. investigators say a driver mistook his gas pedal for the break and plowed into a crowd of people. 56-year-old man was killed and six others were hurt this happened in chinatown. the driver was trying to park when he drove onto the curb and crashed into two for cards before hitting people. the new york mayor is promising a full investigation. today, this is an exciting new chapter for the mars insight probe one day after it successfully landed on mars. >>

president trump's says congress needs to fund a boarder wall. as doug luzader reports from washington, democrats have their own demands. >> reporter: there is some time to defuse this but government funding runs out on december 7 and this immigration crisis could push things to the brink. after a violent weekend, migrants that have amassed along the u.s.-mexico border are considering their options, having been turned back once and the president is seizing on the crisis laming democrats. >> democrats have become the party of caravans and crime. >> reporter: appearing at two rallies in mississippi yesterday for his senate race, the president again and again brought up the border. his support is pushing for a boarder wall and the president is leading the charge. they say congress should have funded the wall and that assistance could lead to a government shutdown in a week

people into housing in the best strategy to prevent homelessness but this is not meant to be a housing solution. this is meant to save lives. we take for granted living in a warm house. when it's a 36 degrees or less in santa rosa frequently throughout the winter, being exposed to those elements can be life-threatening. >> a survey taken early this year and sonoma county showed more than 21,000 people live in unstable housing situations or are homeless. caltrans is warning it may close part of highway 1 on the central coast. the agency tweeted this yesterday afternoon -- due to a major storm forecast to hit the central coast on wednesday, we are issuing a 48 hour traffic advisory for closing highway 1 south of big sur. caltrans says it expects to either confirm or cancel that closure sometime today. we will let you know. sal will let you know

what's happening in the commute right now. everyone behaving? >> yes. for the most part. we look at things here. we don't see anything unusual but we do see slow traffic out there. we will go to the tracy commute where we do have a lot of slow traffic on 205 before you get to 580 and also on 580 as well. you can see the slow traffic here. it's going to be a tough commute until you make it over the altamont pass. nothing unusual about that. the one thing to watch out for the other way on eastbound 580, there is roadwork that has closed some lanes approaching the trace triangle. that will slow you down in that direction. let's take a look from livermore to dublin. it looks okay. no problems in oakland. both directions getting up to the bay bridge are okay. . there is not a big crowd yet. if you want to get on the road soon, you will beat it. let's bring stephen. >> didn't you notice the flags? >> they are moving.

going into the weekend you are looking at santa cruz with almost 3 inches of rain. that is at santa cruz. if they get 2.80, that will add more to that in the santa cruz mountains. the moisture will lift, it will cool and condense and they get more. the same could be said for the russian river and marin county. 2-3 almost for everyone over the next three systems. our system it's making its move on the mendocino coast we have a way to go before it gets here. maybe northern sonoma county will get on that in the next couple of hours. cloudy with patchy fog to the south. some areas in the 40s but temperatures are up due to cloud cover. 50 in the santa cruz and san jose statesystem. after this system drops south, it willpport and that could enhance some of those rainfall rates wednesday into thursday. maybe a 10th of an inch to an inch in the north for today's system coming into the golden gate around noon.
