welcome back to mornings on 2. it's 6:13. an emotional community meeting last night in oakland's monte claire neighborhood where a man was killed when his laptop computer was stolen. the residents there last night talked to the police, the city

council members and the district attorney about crime. one oakland police captain said monte claire has seen an increase in crime especially car burglaries and theft. some people who were there last night want more officers patrolling and say many of their calls to police go unentered. >> we want to feel like we get some kind of coverage in the area. >> it's kind lawless, really. >> yeah. >> all of the resources are put downtown. you call, they don't show up. >> the oakland police department says part of the problem, there's a staffing shortage with 60 vacancies.. classes will resume this morning at las lomas creek. the campus was put on lockdown around 1130 jed. police say the student's backpack was searched and that a loaded handgun was found

inside. san francisco police are investigating a daytime home invasion robbery caught on camera in one neighborhood. now take a look at the video. it shows two cars pulling up to a house about 1:20 wednesday afring masks, some of them with guns jump out. the robbers confronted one of the victims in the garage and held them at gun point and pistol whipped him. police say the suspects got away with a large amount of money. >> this is an unusual occurrence not only in that neighborhood but for the city. we don't see incidents like this involving that many suspects. >> of the suspects got away in an infinity m35. also a gnc yukon xl. police say a woman was also at that home during the robbery but she was not hurt.

city employees in san francisco will soon be drinking more tap water from the reservoir. the puc says it offers fresh- tasting water and it's now time to expand those services to city hall. the 61 story tower at 546 howard street would include 165 condos. 189 hotel rooms and 365,000 square feet of office space. the project now goes to the board of supervisors for final approval. as some people in china town were against the project because of asia doe it would cast on the willy wowo wong playground six miles away.

the richmond bridge is nice. getting a little slow in bay point and as we get to san jose, this commute looks good. on this friday it does seem as if we're having a very nice commute. looks like a chilly start today. >> it is indeed. there's a lot of 30s out there. now there will be a weak system late tonight. by about 10:00 in the morning it should be falling apart. partly cloudy. cooler, breezy. but tailgaters might get a little light rain if you're there early enough. 56, 58 is average. we're running on all. it's not something we've seen too much. that's the case not only today but mobile for about the next week or so. now it's a lot better. the only place i can really find it is out to stockton. other than that it's 9 to 10

miles visibility liver more is 33 degrees. 37, even san jose. upper 30s on the peninsula. a lot of 30s around. los altos is down to 33. even wood side. 37 in fremont. 9 truckee. 20 in reno. 34 and the water temps are about 53 to 56. that's cold water for this time of year. and they haven't changed in about six weeks. that system again doesn't look like much because it isn't much. it will give us a little bit of rain and by 9:00, 10:00 i think it will be falling apart. 50s on the temps morning sun. we'll cloud it up and that system will make its move. next system late sunday, monday

a.m. and 4:30 p.m. there are two locations beginning at 1:00 p.m. on crow canyon road in san ramon and oakland on oakport road. new this morning a slow down by companies hiring the new workers. employers added 135,000 jobs last month. even though there were some robust gains in november which were caused by the strike at general motors. 2.1 million jobs were added last year but that's down from gains of $2.7 million from the year before. time is 6:46 bart moving ahead with the plans to move service. an 8 $8 million contract will be designed a new train system. bart says that will allow more trains to run closer together especially through the trandz bay tube also bart plans to add wifi in bart trains and at bart
