its way toward the lake tahoe basin. large fires when they do get to this size are notoriously hard. to make the time containment line around especially under these drought conditions that we're seeing those conditions improving slightly over the next week are still coupled with 13 major wildfires burning statewide the result in the lake tahoe area is hazy air and masks as i must have your having a pizza and there's ashes landing in your pizza nine. federal parks have been closed and area businesses are also taking a hit as tourist towns have become ghost towns to impacted as tremendously. was contemplating every day to stay open to a close. meanwhile firefighters continue efforts to keep the cal door fire from spreading beyond highway 50 and into more populated areas. it's going to create some more challenging spaces for firefighters to be able to actively suppress the fire, which is why we're seeing a lot of air support coming in here late wednesday, cal fire officials said they're moving nighttime helicopter operations from the cal door fire to the
french fire because of an immediate threat to structures there in san jose, jesse gary ktvu fox two news. cal fire says evacuations are underway in calibers county where a fast moving wildfire is now grown to 700 acres, taking a look from overhead you can see aircraft are attacking the flames with water and fire retardant they are role of fire is now burning southeast of angels camp and just west of the town of colombia there's no word yet on exactly how many people are under evacuation orders right now. cal fire says the cause of this fire is under investigation. for the very latest now on the conditions facing firefighters let's go to our chief meteorologist bill martin and also build your outside all the time. you're a mountain biker you're a surfer when we talk about air quality are you noticing air quality yourself uh you know, not really we've had a pretty good run around here, frank and we've got those sea breezes but certainly few weeks ago yes did
notice it but, speaking of that i have a good buddy who's an athlete up in the lake tahoe area who was an olympic athlete, actually, and he basically has not been able to do anything because i'm not even going for walks i'm not leaving the building because the smoke is so bad like we said earlier, uh and so the smoke is so bad. it's going to be a little bit better tomorrow but not much and then it's going to get worse as we head towards the weekend the call door fires the focus right now because of its spread and its movement. here's where the winds are now and that same friend that's what i was talking to was asking about the winds up there and he said yes, it's pretty windy up here today, so they're seeing 20 to 25 on our winds over the past. and that drives that called our fire towards like tahoe and the thing to note is as the crow flies the called or fire is maybe at tops 10 miles as a crow flies from the lake tahoe basin so you know there's topography so if you're driving a car it would take longer, but you get the idea so it's definitely getting to a point where it's getting close to the to the to the basin and any
winds that are going to be coming along will be driving it that way. and in fact, it's just going to keep burning it's rough terrain so it's going to keep going up and down those hills with that said here is the air quality right now not too bad today. most of us were in the green the smoke from the fires. i want to show you this there's the called or fire right here and you can see the plug see the plume getting kind of the roles you're saying. that's because there's some wind up there and that's blowing that smoke away which is great for most of us and most of the area but it's also spreading that fire and that's what we're going to be up against like i say these fires aren't going out in a week or two weeks or three weeks. four weeks. they're going out when the first rains come. that's just how it's going to be, and so we're going to be dealing with smoke and concerns over these fires really until the first round. i'll see you back here with your forecast and just little bit. we'll see them bill thank you and reminder to stay with ktvu and ktvu dot com. for all the latest information on the wildfires around the state for updates and evacuations on evacuations and preparedness just go to ktvu .com/ wildfires. out of

tonight i don't know. obsession fascination whatever you want to call it. it's reached a point of ridiculousness with regard to the 40 niners in their quarterback situation it seems like a lot of people trying to make a story where they're probably really isn't one, creating some drama and everybody in the 49ers organizations probably laughing behind closed doors what the media is doing to this, but to me. it's obvious with the situation i think they're planning to start the season with jimmy garoppolo at quarterbackand then bring trade lance along slowly ease a rookie's got things to learn.
and if you listen to what coach shanahan and jimmy g have to say, i think it's pretty obvious they have things under control. what do you gain by not naming the starting quarterback at this time. um i look at more is what do you gain by naming it? you know, it would be right. one reason i can think of by naming it that would help and better in those questions um i get the suspense of it, but, i mean, i'm not just gonna answer it to endure guys suspense you won't tell us who but have you decided on. i got a pretty good idea, carl said he had a pretty good idea to do the starting quarterback in week one. do you have a pretty good idea yeah, i have a pretty good idea. i think bad chuckle and laugh tells you everything jimmy garoppolo is going to be the starting quarterback when the season starts. now stop talk about the other guys for a change. meanwhile the giants who have played such great defense all season long. major problems with it, putting their fans
through the wringer tonight back in new york city, and as frank somerville once told me, you know mark if you make it there, you can make it anywhere right. fourth inning taiwan walker giving the giants some trouble on the mound, but kris bryant took it to ride is 23rd of the year fourth with the giants they lead it one nothing but johnny cueto will find himself some trouble in the fifth inning bases loaded two out 32 pitch pete alonzo. routine grounder to third kris bryant give us kris bryant take it as he makes a bad throw that allows the tying run in 11 ball game so in the seventh inning the mets are leading to one taiwan walker has pulled out with two on aaron loops first pitch ripped by brandon crawford into the right field corner. two runs are going to score. ryan and alex dickerson with a slide three to san francisco lady walker is picked off the manager, luis rowhouse
can have to live with that decision. right now. the mets are batting in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and some bad defense by the giants in that ninth inning. has allowed the mets to keep their foot in the door as of right now, have you had a chance to check out the little league world series so far very entertaining baseball all day long, but there's one kid in particular that is just really doing it. so wilmington pennsylvania williamsport pennsylvania south dakota and california. gavin were. he, uh has thrown another no hitter when i say another no hitter how about this seven. no hitters in his last eight starts and in those eight games he struck out 114 guys giving up only one. it. all told one nothing. his team is moving up south dakota from sioux falls all right. if you're a promoter
at the us open man you are hurting some of the biggest names in all of tennis are out of this event the marquee names nowhere to be seen the latest serena williams is done you remember, she heard herself at wimbledon it was a hamstring injury and she doesn't feel she's fully recovered so she's withdrawn on the men's side. rafael nadal and roger federer also out and so is venus williams is a matter of fact the tournament starts monday. not a whole lot of big names all right we've got little type so why not check this out last night and the giants medscape if seem a particular pictures fool of hitter now the replay is what shows you how bad god i don't think i don't think have e lopez. uh, javi bias has ever missed the pitch by more than that. that's pretty amazing that. that's pretty amazing that is the sporty life
