we are seeing that we're having our seasonable wild viruses starting during this time. firefighters think a wildfire burning in southern california tonight shows we need to be fire ready all year long. the 11 o'clock news on ktvu. fox news starts now. hello again, everyone. i'm julie julie haener mike mibach firefighters say they are making progress putting out the hollister fire burning in southern california. the fire in santa barbara county is now 40% contained earlier today. firefighters had that fire only 20% contained. ktvu is elissa harrington joins us now, after speaking with cal fire about this latest firefight and why people all around the state. should be prepared. alyssa that's right. you know, we finally got some rain around here in the bay area, but that's no reason to let your guard down. fire officials say we have a fire year instead of a fire season. and the activity they're already seeing in march is concerning this video shows flames coming from a canyon in

santa barbara county, where the hollister fire started saturday . the fire forced evacuations and by sunday evening had burned 100 acres. access has made it very difficult to, uh, get full containment on that fire, but our crews are engaged. captain chris bruno, with cal fire said crews are working diligently to get the fire fully contained. this type of fire activity is unusual for march, which is supposed to be one of the wettest times of the year. but bruno said wildfires in march and in winter months are becoming more common because of years of drought in california earlier this month, the flanagan fire burned south of shasta lake because of our many years of having drought stricken trees. ah our field beds are extremely receptive during this time. what we're seeing is our fuels have been preheated with those early warm weather that we're experiencing cal fire has started phasing out the term fire season. officials say the state is at risk year round. cal

officers found three victims of gunshot wounds, one of them pronounced dead on the scene, the body lying near the store's entrance behind the yellow tarp, you know it's just sad evidence shows what happened at the store spilled out onto the street markers, identify spots of clothing and other items, perhaps belonging to two more victims who are wounded and transported to hospitals. placard 14 reveals what appears to be at least one of the show casings found on the scene. investigators spent much of the morning interviewing people who may have seen something. they also gathered bags of evidence, hoping to find clues that would answer whether this was a robbery gone wrong. an incident that sparked into violence or something else entirely. for now , investigators aren't offering any information as to what may have triggered the violence that erupted here. a woman who says she lives nearby but declined to give her name told us it's an area prone to problems that need to be addressed, you know, but this is a bad area anyway, is

people are on drugs? you know, and i need to clean this area up . bottom line. the deceased victim in this case is a 44 year old man from fairfield. the identities of the other two victims have not been released. but we are told they are 36 28 year old men from suisun city. both hospitalized with life threatening injuries. so far, police have not released a motive for the shooting. greg liggins ktvu fox two news. one man was killed in a woman critically injured in a stabbing early this morning in san jose. this happened shortly after midnight on gold street. police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries, the motive and circumstances surrounding the stabbings remain under investigation. hillsboro police are asking for the public's help and identifying two residential burglars video surveillance footage from a home in the area of eugenia way and butternut drive shows two suspects. leaving that residents with multiple bags of property early yesterday. police say the

suspects also stole the residents suv, but it was later recovered. investigators say the suspects in this video are possibly responsible for other burglaries in hillsboro and throughout the region. anyone with information is asked to call hillsboro, hillsboro police detectives, a 19 year old man is in the hospital tonight following a shooting in stockton last night. officers say they responded to a disturbance call around 10 30 once on scene. they heard multiple gunshots and returned fire. no officers were hurt, but police say a 19 year old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. neighbors walking by saw the police tape still up today. i just got back from the bay area . i've been gone all weekend with work and ah as i returned home. this is what i come to police say both officers fired their guns after believing they were being shot at authorities are still trying to figure out if the officers shot the teenager or someone else. we're also looking into whether the

team could face charges in connection with the shooting. sheriff's deputies in 12 mini county were involved in a shooting last night in sonora. it happened around 7 20 last night, the sheriff's office says . on its facebook page. the deputies responded to edgemont acres road. for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. they say the driver of the vehicle and fled the scene. leading deputies on a chase that's reportedly when shots were fired. we've reached out to the sheriff's office but have not heard back. it remains unclear tonight if a person was hit by the gunfire, injured or killed. it's also unknown whether any deputies were hurt in the shooting. former president barack obama has tested positive for covid 19. mr obama announced the news on twitter, saying he's at a scratchy throat for a couple of days, but otherwise feels fine. both the former president and former first lady michelle obama, are vaccinated and boosted michelle obama has tested negative for covid, the former president, also sharing a reminder for others to get the shots even as cases continue to go down and south bay

congresswoman zoloft er and also said today that she has tested positive for covid, she says she tested as standard protocol after travel. lofgren says she's vaccinated and boosted and experiencing mild symptoms. big changes coming this week for masking rules inside california classrooms, students will no longer be required to wear face coverings at california schools when they returned to class tomorrow. however state public health experts are still recommending that students mask up when they're on campus. local school districts will have the final say on the rules on wearing masks at california schools 4.1 magnitude earthquake strikes this afternoon north of pinnacles national park in san benito county. according to the usgs. that quake struck at 1 53 , the epicenter 22 miles southeast of hollister, and about seven miles from the north entrance of pinnacles. people reported feeling that quake across a wide area, but no reports of any damage or injuries. alrighty we're going to go right to the long range

model like we usually do. just go looking for rain, and we've got a couple opportunities this week we've got we already had a little bit this morning. and last night, we're going to see a little bit more, maybe some substantial rainfall in the north bay as we go into tomorrow night into tuesday, so here it is here on the model. so it just this models high resolution, so it just gives you the idea. but look where the jet stream is, gives you a feel for the general pattern. so, 10 o'clock tomorrow night, so right around there about two a.m. tuesday that thing starts to pass overhead. hangs out in the mountains. they're going to probably have a winter storm warning up there. then we get a break. so it's tuesday. now we're into wednesday. now we're into thursday. now we're due friday. now are friday and now we're just saturday and right there. that looks pretty good. see that and again. it looks good you got that doesn't look that good. yeah, it looks pretty good this on this long range model because it shows me a jet stream pretty far south. and it shows me moisture available. that's what we need right now. so let's keep our fingers crossed and hope this all pans out tuesday looks pretty okay. i mean, it's not

what we need, but it's something these are the forecaster. these are the current temperatures forecast overnight lows aren't going to be much cooler. it's going to be down in the thirties . tonight in the coldest spots, upper thirties and low forties, so temperatures are running a little cooler than last night. 49 in an jac just 42 in santa rosa greenville. you'll be about 38 degrees. maybe some process some of those inland valleys. here's the system stuff. big big spinner up there, so that's going to stay for a few days, and that's going to linger into saturday. that's going to bring us our best shot at real rain. but that's a moisture plume and yes, that's an atmospheric river not directed in our direction, but something that could deliver some range starting late tomorrow night. here's the model. this is more granular, too short range model, so it's a little bit of crisp and in terms of detail here is tomorrow night about midnight. and then the showers start for us around me for 567 a m. look at the mountains like tahoe and then the afternoon so going on to lake tahoe, and then we kind of

start to clear out, so it's kind of an overnight tomorrow night into tuesday morning, until about lunchtime, maybe a little beyond that, hopefully, itself forecast highs tomorrow. yellows of the seventies. we get clouds increasing as you would expect. tomorrow so kind of a you know, it's not a wet day tomorrow, but tuesday will be kind of shower, especially in those morning hours. these are the forecast highs still mild. it's kind of a lower latitude storm. you may notice all that moisture that atmospheric river pointed out. that's a kind of a subtropical tap, so that's why it's going to be so mild and stays mild all week. but if you look in here, you got that chance on tuesday, which looks pretty good to me. and then on friday night into saturday, we got a heck of an opportunity that saturday deal looks like it could be the real deal. so fingers crossed on that. i'll see you back here tomorrow night. yeah, we definitely could use some rain. all right, bill. thank you. russia's invasion of ukraine has caused gas prices despite even more across the country, the average us price of regular gasoline has jumped 79 cents in the past two weeks and is now at a record setting average of $4.

it's the eat fresh refresh at subway are women. and as we mark women's history month, the san francisco fire department is doing something. not many departments are doing interviews. christian captain as the story. san francisco's fire department stands ready to protect the city, just as it has for more than 170 years. but like the city, the department has evolved current chief jenny nicholson, the department's second woman chief, says she stands on the shoulders of giants. there were almost 50 45, or 50 women that came into the san francisco fire department before i did. so they were the real trailblazers and they came in when there were no separate changing areas in any of the stations, no separate bathrooms . none of that, nicholson says. san francisco's fire department

has among the highest number of women, firefighters. data from the national fire protection association from 2018 shows that only about 4% of career firefighters are women. san francisco boasts more than three times that number. we've had women in the department for well over 30 years now, um and we have approximately 15% of our department is women women who have had to meet the same rigorous standards of their male counterparts. yes we all have to meet the same standards to enter the fire department and we have to meet the same standards when we come through the fire academy. the department says. not only are women in the firehouses there also climbing the ranks. casey cardinal is the new acting captain on fireboat. three very exciting. yes it's a beautiful station. it's a fabulous apparatus, and it's a wonderful group of people here. credit ali has served the city of san francisco 31 years and says in that time she's seen the

department change. she was just one of two women in her class. now she says, she sees a lot more women in the station houses. when i came in a lot of times, i was the only one woman working at a station. so it's nice to have other women around just to kind of ask questions to you and be able to share my knowledge of what i've learned over the years with people who you know when you're struggling, and just because you're new chelsea nelson is two years into the job of firefighter emt based out of station 21. her job includes everything from driving the engine and rushing into burning buildings right down to dealing with routine injuries like this cyclist who walked to the station after being hit by a car and you've got to be very defensive here. nelson says there were a handful of women in her class who bonded and continue to support one another . she says she's benefited from the experience of women before her. and understands the duty to mentor those who follow. that's something that i take a lot of pride in is, you know, not just receiving the mentor ship but also paying it forward and being
