doing very well to let's go out and see the golden gate bridge because we do have a little bit of roadwork coming in from the spencer area to the south tower of the golden gate bridge, but i don't see any traffic here on the golden gate bridge. traffic is moving well, and there's no problem here. traffic also looks good at the bay bridge toll plaza where it's light into san francisco. it's 402. let's get back to the desk. well some people are still evacuated this morning in the sierra foothills as firefighters continue to battle the electric fire. some evacuation orders have been lifted for people in amador county, but other evacuation orders continue in neighboring cala vera's county fire, which is already burned more than 4100 acres along highway 49. near the city of jackson is now 40% contained efforts to set backfires to keep flames from spreading seemed to be working. the ultimate objective of firing operations is to starve the fire

fuel before it has a chance to actually reach our lines. so if something does decide to come out of the canyon, it's got a nice buffer to slow it down and stop it. now, so far, no homes have been destroyed and no injuries are reported. area utility and water officials are closely watching the electrify rare ktvu is tom baker explains how that fire could affect the power grid and water supply here at home. fire debris from the electoral fire will create a lot of ash and other organic materials that can fall into or later washington, the upper mcw alameda watershed that flows directly into east bay muds party reservoir, which could create water quality issues for the 1.4 million customers. that utility serves. we are keeping an eye on the water quality, and so once the fire clears, we'll be doing an assessment and will be working with blm, the bureau of land management to check the soil. well to check the water quality and treat the water accordingly. water utilities are

used to dealing with all kinds of contaminants in their water supplies. water treatment plans will handle, um, the situation but we want to know exactly specifically what the situation is and see if we need to make any adjustments to our processes . cal fire says that various critical electricity facilities are also threatened. including 11, major distribution and transmission poles and towers that have already been damaged. pg and e says it's closely monitoring some hydro electric generation. powerhouse and substation facilities, and that's the fire continues to spread. some additional power shutoffs may be necessary really thick, heavy smoke has so many particulates in it. that when smoke runs between the lines it can actually short out and cause huge interruptions. pg and e has chosen to do is to cut power in major fire areas locally and reroute the power to non fire areas vertically reducing and de

unresponsive in the pool. and while authorities rushed to the scene, someone gave him cpr, but the child died later at a nearby hospital. an investigation into this drowning has begun. and along the sacramento river. the bodies of three bay area men have been recovered after they died while trying to rescue a child from the river on sunday, the three men were swept away by the river current near the three miles slough bridge and highway 1 60. the child eventually was pulled to safety. the search for the men lasted several days until all three bodies were found tuesday night. the victims , all from oakland, identified as edwin reba's edwin perez and danilo solar santo. relatives and friends of a man injured during a sideshow in vallejo last weekend are praying he will survive. 19 year old tyler ingersoll was one of the hundreds of people who gathered near six flags for that side show that attracted about 200

drivers last weekend. now he was hit by one of the cars and has been in the hospital since sunday night. he is being treated for traumatic brain injuries and has had three surgeries. his family and girlfriend are now warning everyone from parents to spectators just how dangerous it can be to watch a sideshow. i hate you right now for doing this to me and my family. but i know we shouldn't have been there either, because things like this happen. watch out for your kids. don't let this go on until you kids out there. they think it's fun in it. you guys think it's okay? you could lose your life just by watching it. anger sells family says doctors still can't tell them if he will survive. the driver who hit in gerstle has not been found. the illinois parade shooting suspect is due back in court exactly three weeks from today. robert cremo currently faces seven counts of first degree murder. he appeared in a zoom court

hearing on wednesday and was ordered to be held without bail . investigators accuse him of firing more than 70 rounds into a crowd of spectators at a july 4th parade in highland park, illinois. then driving to neighboring wisconsin, where he considered committing a second attack at another holiday celebration. he did see a celebration that was occurring in madison, and he seriously contemplated using the fire army and his vehicle to commit another shooting. they could have been further tragedy, and that's why when an event like this happens, all of law enforcement throughout the area and other communities have to be on alert. police say they are not sure why he decided to return to illinois, where he was spotted and arrested. prosecutors plan to file more charges against him including attempted murder, and authorities say the 21 year old will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. now stay with us here at ktvu for updates on the parade shooting investigation. we will have another report in the nexte'll o highland park, illinois at 5 30

team new this morning. it's a blockbuster british prime minister boris johnson has agreed to resign. boris johnson gave in after more than 50 ministers quit his government. we're not sure yet if johnson will stay in office, while the conservative party chooses a new leader to replace him as prime minister, johnson's time is prime minister was marred by the way he handled the coronavirus pandemic and several ethics scandals. a superior court judge has ruled against the student vaccine mandate for the los angeles unified school district . the judges siding with the father of a 12 year old student who challenged that mandate now, the judge said the district

exceeded its authority and that the power to require children to be vaccinated to attend school. lies with the state. the ruling has no immediate effect because back in may, the school district postponed its mandate until at least july of next year. public health leaders here in the bay area, say an increase in covid cases is largely a result of new sub variants of the omicron variant ktvu zach sars has the precautions. doctors are encouraging people to take not everybody is going to get covid . it's just a matter again of using tools in the community sensibly to try and reduce risk areas. covid-19 positivity rate now hovering around 15% in line with a trend seen statewide infectious disease expert dr peter chin hong, reminding people to take basic precautions doesn't mean you stay at home and shelter in place indefinitely. it means you continue to engage in life. we all know what to do mask up and public or crowded areas. that's

what the cdc is recommending across the bay area's nine counties now considered at a high risk level for spread of the virus, the california department of public health also reminding parents to get their kids the vaccine now authorized for children under five. these vaccines are safe. they're effective. we have never accumulated so much data so quickly on vaccines and you know, over 20 million other children of older ages have gotten vaccines. so far, state epidemiologist dr eric upon says the vaccine continues to prevent severe covid-19 in a majority of people who get it despite the uptick in cases. hospitalizations remained fairly low. hospital rates are going up a bit as well, but nowhere near prior surges and santa clara county. most of those cases are tied to newer so very ints of oh, macron what we're seeing in a lot of the wastewater data, which is what we're currently relying on. in addition to our case data is that we are seeing these variants continue to have a high level of transmission in

bring recent health records, including blood tests and a list of current medications. time now for 17 in san francisco, the number of monkeypox cases has more than doubled in the past week. the city health department reports 24 more cases of monkeypox. that makes 40 cases in san francisco. also, there's word from the organizers of last week san francisco pride parade that someone who attended the parade soft reported that they have monkeypox virus primarily spread through direct contact with infectious sores, scabs or body fluids and sexual activity. in the san francisco aids foundation, says the city needs more when it comes to monkey pox vaccines. in an online statement , the foundation says organizations like san francisco aids foundations are uniquely positions to reach communities who may be at higher risk for monkey pox and do so in ways that are affirming and compassionate. the organization says it right now has fewer than

. but they were released based upon the pretrial assessment. that they were low risk. we cannot have these decisions being made without at least some semblance of factual information. now that pretrial assessment made no mention of the amount of drugs or their value right now the suspects are on the run and other judge issued a nationwide warrant preemptively setting bail at $2 million each, so this doesn't happen again if they're captured. a man from san francisco was caught posing as a comcast worker and trying to break into a home in marin county. ktvu cristina rendon tells us the suspect drove off in a stolen comcast xfinity van and crashed in the east bay. a scraped up xfinity events. it's his evidence at the marine county sheriff's office. debris still stuck on a tire after it was stolen and crashed by a man posing as a comcast worker. the marin county sheriff's office

has a homeowner on bret hart road in san rafael, called authorities to report a suspicious men in a comcast uniform trying to get into his home around one in the afternoon on the fourth of july. the homeowner was out of town, watching the activity from his ring security camera when a deputy got to the house, the burglar was in the garage. what appears to be an expended e service worker running out of the garage that was propped open with a ladder. jumps into an xfinity van and takes off out of the driveway with the van door still open. brendan schneider says the deputy chased the driver in the xfinity van from marin across the richmond san rafael bridge to richmond. the vent crashed in debris on the off ramp to cutting boulevard, california our patrols helicopter happened to be in the area, so as soon as we asked for their assistance, they were able to get overhead and kind of help us when he took off on foot from the vehicle, the suspect, 30 year old tyler, christopher ramirez, of san francisco, is believed to have stolen the xfinity van from headquarters location in richmond. before he tried to burglarize the home in

shooting. during that fourth of july parade, the parents of two year old aidan mccarthy were both killed at the parade, a stranger took the little boy to a police station and his grandfather says the family will be taking care of the boy. and thanks to the community, they will have help a go fund me account that was set up for the little boy stands at more than $2.8 million, and it's still climbing. well the next court hearing for the suspect in the illinois parade attack is set for the end of this month. prosecutors are planning to file more charges against him and reporter madeline rivera is in highland park, as investigators say he confessed to the shooting and even considered a second attack. as the highland park community mourns, police say there could have been more violence as a suspect have thought about committing a second shooting in another state admitted to what he had done, enforcement say robert cremo, the third confessed that he committed monday's deadly attack. killing at least seven people and hurting more than two dozen when he used a high

continue for the victims as this devastated community bands together. primo was charged with seven counts of first degree murder, with additional charges expected, a judge ordered he be held without bond. he's due back in court on july 28th in highland park, illinois. mother rivera fox news time. 4 35 in richmond, virginia. hero citizen helped to stop a plan to commit a mass shooting on the fourth of july. the caller claimed he overheard two men making plans to shoot up the independence day celebration in richmond, virginia. two suspects were arrested. police seize two assault rifles, a handgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition at the home where the two men lived. the mayor of richmond, virginia, condemned what he called an epidemic of gun violence. we've seen the proliferation of weapons of war being used on our civilian population throughout this country. we've seen it in your body. we saw it in buffalo. and unfortunately saw this past fourth of july. in highland

park, illinois. now the two men are charged with being non us citizens and possession of a firearm and there may be more charges. police enrichment are looking for a motive. a new report details more of the missed opportunities. police had to stop the mass shooting at a you've aldi texas elementary school, a sweeping critique released yesterday found that a police officer watched the gunman walked toward the campus but did not open fire while waiting for permission from a supervisor to shoot. the supervisor either did not hear or did not respond right away. the report also says some of the 21 victims could have been saved had they received medical attention sooner. earlier reports found that police waited more than an hour before entering the classroom. the findings are based on video taken from the school police body cameras, testimony from officers on the scene. and statements from investigators. time is 4 36. starting today,

there are no legal abortion clinics in the state of mississippi. the very last clinic, which was at the center of the supreme court decision that overturned roe v. wade was a gathering spot for noisy protest yesterday. there were people on both sides of the debate since the court decision was officially announced last month. and that includes a man who says he's been protesting once a week outside that clinic for the last 18 years, another ministry to do. but the real administration is to change society. this place exists because of the darkness of our society. lack of love for life, and i heard about what was going on down here really felt important to be part of it was silence is complicity. now clinic officials say it's been hard to stay open for this long period of time. they've had to bring doctors in from other states to perform abortions because no doctors in mississippi would work there. the campaign to include the right to abortion in the

california constitution begins this week. a coalition of reproductive healthcare, human rights and justice groups are endorsing prop. one the campaign launched a website twitter accounts, facebook page and instagram account, and in november, voters will be asked to decide if the state's constitution should include an amendment that would guarantee a right to abortion and protect access to birth control. the former minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering george floyd will learn his federal sentence in the next few hours. derek chauvin is already serving a 22 year sentence on state charges for killing george floyd, a witness shot and publicly released video of floyd's death on memorial day two years ago. it shows chauvin leading on floyd's neck while floyd gasped and said, i can't breathe over and over. chauvin has been in prison since his state murder conviction. today he will be sentenced for violating floyd civil rights. it's expected he will be moved to an unnamed federal prison to serve out that sentence time now

to see some prices under $6. just a few, but here in san ramon, we're looking at 6 41 here behind me. and then just across the street almost about 6 50 here now this 6 41. that's more than 20, cents higher than the state average. according to triple a the current average for a gallon of regular in california is about 6 19. now compare that to 6 22. that was the average yesterday. and then close to 6 30 a week ago and almost 6 40 a month ago. that's almost 20 cent drop last month. right now, the national average is 4 75. that's 17 cents lower. than a month ago. crude oil is trading under $100 this morning. that's down about 20% from early june. on tuesday, the price of crude oil dropped 9. the largest daily percentage drop since march. we're also seeing a decline in trading

police chase ended when the driver of the car that was being chased crashed into parked cars and motorcycles and one of the motorcycles flew through the air and landed on top of so i can killing him, the family says. sometime this week, the alameda county coroner will release his body to them. the family will then decide when the funeral will be planning a public ceremony for him, saying that's what he would have wanted. police in mountain view are investigating the drowning death of a nine year old boy and a swimming pool. it happened yesterday afternoon at an apartment complex near el camino real not far from mariano castro elementary school. someone found the boy unresponsive in the pool while authorities rushed to the scene. someone was giving him cpr, but the child later died at a nearby hospital and investigation continues. time is 507 and along the sacramento river, the bodies of three bay area men have been recovered after they died trying to rescue a child from the river. on

sunday. the three men were swept away by the river current near the three mile slough bridge and highway 1 60. the child was eventually pulled to safety. the search with the man lasted several days until all three bodies were found tuesday night. the victims, all of them from oakland, where identified as edwin revis, edwin perez and danilo solorzano. well, some people are still evacuated this morning in the sierra foothills as firefighters continue to battle the electoral fire. now some evacuation orders have been lifted for people in amador county. but other evacuation orders continue in neighboring calipari's county fire, which is already burned more than 4100 acres along highway 49 near the city of jackson is now 40% contained. efforts to said backfires to keep the flames from spreading seemed to be working. the ultimate objective of firing operations is to starve the fire fuel before it has a chance to actually reach

our lines. so if something does decide to come out of the canyon, it's got a nice buffer to slow it down and stop it. so far, no homes have been destroyed. no injuries are reported. although the electoral fire is burning more than 100 miles from the bay area, it could have a very direct impact on us fire. debris and ash could contaminate the river. that flows into the east bay muds party reservoir that could create water quality issues for the nearly 1.5 million customers who rely on the water for their homes and businesses. we are keeping an eye on the water quality. and so once the fire clears, we'll be doing an assessment and will be working with blm, the bureau of land management to check the soil to check the water quality and treat the water accordingly. the fire is also threatening some of pg and e s critical facilities, including 11, major distribution and transmission poles, as well as hydro electric generation substation and powerhouse facilities. pg and e. says it

teen new this morning, british prime minister boris johnson just announced he's resigning boris johnson gave in after more than 50 ministers quit his government and just a little while ago this morning, johnson said he will stay in power until his conservative party select a new prime minister. but the critics want him to be removed from office as soon as possible . johnson's time as prime minister in the uk was marred by the way he handled the coronavirus pandemic and several ethics scandals. a superior court judge has ruled against the student vaccine mandate for the los angeles unified school district. now the judges siding with a father of a 12 year old student who challenged the

the five more questions raised about a decision by a judge into larry county to release two suspects who were allegedly found with enough fentanyl to possibly kill a small town. jose's and day outs and benito madrigal were arrested late last month after police say their truck was stopped and it was carrying 150,000 fentanyl pills and £4 of cocaine. but they were released from jail based upon a

pretrial assessment that said they were low risk. we cannot have these decisions being made without at least some semblance of factual information. now that pre trial assessment made no mention of the amount of drugs or their value right now, those suspects are on the run. another judge issued a nationwide warrant preemptively setting bail at $2 million each. so this doesn't happen again. if they're captured. it is 5 26, a man from san francisco was caught posing as a comcast employee and breaking into a house in marin county. marin county sheriff's office has a homeowner on bret hart road in san rafael, called the authorities and reported a suspicious man wearing a comcast uniform trying to get into his house around one in the afternoon on the fourth of july. the homeowner was out of town. he was watching all of this from his reign security cameras when the deputy arrived at the house

, the burglar was in the garage. he sees what appears to be an xfinity service worker running out of the garage that was propped open with a ladder jumps into an xfinity van and takes off out of the driveway with the van door still open. now the sheriff's deputy chased the driver in that xfinity ban from ren county across the richmond sander fell bridge to richmond. the van crashed in debris on the off ramp to cutting boulevard. then the driver ran away but was captured. it's believed he stole the xfinity van from headquarters location in richmond, that suspect now facing several charges. it is 5 27 sad news at the san francisco zoo, its oldest, its oldest met mcgill and that it's a penguin has died. magellanic captain eo was the name it was the last of the founding members of the zoo's magellanic penguin colony

california. it's about 6 19 compare that to 6 22 average yesterday close to 6 30 a week ago and almost 6 40 a month ago . that's an almost 20% drop in the last month. right now, the national average 4 75. that's 17 cents lower than a month ago. crude oil is trading under $100 this morning. that's down about 20% from early june. now on tuesday, the price of crude oil dropped 9% that's the largest daily percentage drop we've seen since march. we're also seeing a decline in trading prices for natural gas, gasoline and heating oil. of course, it is great to see these prices come down. but we spoke to a local energy expert who says it's most likely due to a tough economic outlook across the country and around the world, he says, mounting fears about a global recession is what's affecting these oil prices. overall a

slower economy means people drive less people fly last. uh there's less demand for oil to heat and so forth and other mostly in other parts of the world. um and the reduction in demand causes a big drop in prices. bornstein says. with so much uncertainty, there's really no way to tell if prices will continue to drop. but in california, he says he doesn't expect to see the average get under $6, he says. most economists believe a recession is likely. now his advice. take advantage of this lower prices that we are seeing, he says. you'll likely see some gas stations just up the street who are have more expensive prices. then you gotta kind of shop around a drive around. see what prices you can see that are lower and then go to those lower gas stations because, he says, that could push those gas stations that have the higher prices to maybe lower their

prices. so his advice drive around her neighborhood. see what you can see with those prices. see what kind of deals you can get. i know they are not really considered low still right now, but they are lower, so we'll see what those prices due in the next few days as well. live in san ramon, amanda keown, thanet. ktvu fox two news, amanda. thank you time 605 . some people still evacuated this morning in the sierra foothills as firefighters continue to battle the electric fire. some evacuation orders have been lifted for people in amador county, but other evacuation orders continue in nearby calibers county. the fire , which is already burned more than 4100 acres along highway 49 , near the city of jackson, is now 40% contained. efforts has said backfires to keep the flames from spreading seemed to be working. the ultimate objective of firing operations is to starve the fire fuel before it has a chance to actually reach our lines. so if

something does decide to come out of the canyon, it's got a nice buffer to slow it down and stop it. and so far, no homes have been destroyed. no injuries are reported. although the electric fire is burning more than 100 miles from the bay area , it could have a very direct impact on us fire, debris and ash could contaminate the river that flows into the east bay muds party reservoir. and that could create water quality issues for the nearly 1.5 million customers who rely on that water for their homes and businesses. we are keeping an eye on the water quality. and so once the fire clears, we'll be doing an assessment will be working with blm, the bureau of land management to check the soil to check the water quality and treat the water accordingly. the fire is also threatening some of pg and e s critical facilities that includes 11 distribution and transmission poles as well as hydro electric generation substation and powerhouse facilities. pg and e says it can divert power away

come up to the pay gates. 6 32. let's go back to pam. thank you, sal. more coronavirus infections are being reported here in the bay area. public health leaders say the increase is largely a result of new sub variants of the omicron variant. all of the bay area's nine counties are now considered at high risk level for the spread of the virus. infectious disease expert, dr peter chin hong is reminding people not to panic but to take those basic precautions. it doesn't mean you stay at home and shelter in place indefinitely. it means you continue to engage in life. we all know what to do. health officials say the vaccine continues to prevent severe covid in a majority of people who get it and despite the uptick in cases, hospitalizations remained fairly low. health experts also say there is still quite a bit that reminds, remains unknown about how covid affects the human body, especially in the long term. the food and drug administration says pharmacists
