warm the heart. so if you're near the coast in bay, not much changing their inland, okay for some, but still hot for others. alright, it's friday. sounds here at four o'clock. i hope everything's quiet out there. it is quite out there. yes, sir. good. it's nice and quiet. your i think i have. do i have something going on here? all right. let me turn this down. sorry about that. let's start again. it's friday, and traffic is moving well, traffic does look pretty good. if you are driving at the bay bridge. we don't have a lot going on now on friday. sometimes we get a break . it's going to be difficult to tell whether that's going to happen today. now that we're back in the fall pattern, but we'll let you know it's 401. let's go back to the headlines. thank you happening today. part of the affidavit that was used to justify the fbi search of mara lago, florida, home of former president trump will be released to the public. reporter madeline rivera says we don't know how much information will

be revealed after a judge ordered that a redacted version of that affidavit be released. just hours after receiving the justice department's proposed redactions for the affidavit ties to the mar a lago search, a federal judge ordered its partial release. a judge does not appear to have pushed back. he's suggesting that the government got it just right, did not want to release even a redacted version of the document , arguing it would compromise their investigation. media organizations wanted the entire affidavit disclosed for transparency. the judge ruled the government had shown good reason to steal some portions to protect in part, the identities of witnesses and law enforcement agents and the investigation strategy. so what are we going to see? we're going to see the words mara lago and a lot of black ink surrounding it. the battle over classified documents has been going on for more than a year. the washington post, citing a national archives email to former president trump's lawyers from may 2021 reports, the agency demanded the return

of about two dozen boxes of official records. even the white house counsel, agreed. i expect in that affidavit to be a good discussion of all of the attempts that the justice department and fbi had to try and retrieve these documents from more lago president biden says he had no advance notice of the search, which the former president has slammed as a witch hunt. as he and his allies push for a full disclosure. i think he's going to use it to play victim even more. trump's team has another big day on friday, when they have to clarify to another federal judge why they need a third party to review the documents that were taken from mar a lago. in washington. mather rivera, fox news, madeline. thank you, mark meadows, the former white house chief of staff of donald trump may be called to testify in front of a georgia georgia grand jury investigating the 2020 election. prosecutors claim there's proof that in 2021 meadows helped former president trump a range of phone call. trump pressured the georgia

vandalized. i'm a very big advocate of the police and i support them. 100% especially what's going on within these days. but today i feel like the system failed me. the contractor says tools and other equipment stolen from the van were worth about $17,000 francisco department of emergency management says it is investigating the incident time now 405 a man has been arrested in connection with the freeway shooting in san leandro back in june that was captured by a dash camera 24 year old julian faizan is being held on charges of attempted murder and assault after a shot was fired into the carbon man and his fiancee who were driving along interstate five. 80 and the bullet barely missed them. there was also a federal case pending against faizan for allegedly selling guns without a license on snapchat. san francisco supervisor connie chan is calling for more resources after an 80 year old asian man was attacked in her district. now

undercover and patrol officers, surveillance teams and burglary. and robbery suppression teams supervisor miley represents part of that neighborhood and says the city council has not addressed lawlessness in the city. i think at this point in time and emergency meeting of the city council be most appropriate, because that would be the form for everyone from the public to weigh in. the mayor can hold meetings, internal meetings, community meetings, but they aren't official meetings of the party that we've elected to represent us in the city. now oakland police are still out there searching for a white lexus seen racing away after that shooting in little saigon and new surveillance video obtained by ktvu shows, alexis was parked nearby. five for 13 minutes before that shooting. state lawmakers are optimistic that they will pass legislation to increase housing construction in commercial areas to measures are on the table that could make it easier to build housing on

4:09 am
let's check in with steve paulson. ah! they like it here. the weather is nice, right? why go anywhere else? yeah it's been pretty quiet pattern for us for three years. all right. we do have a big fog bank again. monsoon moisture staying south of tahoe and east. there's plenty of south. but excuse me, not overtime or trucking lots of activity against southern nevada southern california desert. high desert into arizona, and that's been just a nonstop event. fifties sixties on the thames water temps came up so the city attempts at 58 mid fifties bodega bay marshall sebastopol, rohnert park point raised mill valley, tiburon all in there about the same for everywhere else, a little little warm as you get go north upper fifties to sixties on the temps forties in the mountains, trucking and south lake task 60 uk and sacramento 56 down in monterey. there's going to be a system that's going to sweep through it'll it'll do this. it'll stay up north. it will not dig in
4:10 am
towards us, but it will usher in a cooler pattern here. today though, it's going to be anywhere from sixties to 90 again just doesn't want to let go these nineties for some inland, but it will tomorrow more clouds cooler forecasts and it looks like a slow warm up as we go into next week, so sixties seventies eighties and nineties and temperatures will come down on the weekend and start to warm up early next week. this sucks. i mean, you know all the cars. we got to go electric now. i mean, what more fires? maybe i don't know. but i mean, at least there would be nice to know brainers like the solar panels. you know, it's a huge mistake not to do it. peace for itself. we're hearing reaction from drivers following california's historic move to cut carbon emissions by banning the sales of new gas powered cars controversial billboard in san francisco what we're finding out about this sign advising people don't move to texas.

- you okay? - there's a flex alert today so i'm mentally preparing for the power outage. oh, well we can help stop one because we are going to reduce our energy use from 4-9pm. what now? i stepped on a plug. oh that's my bad! unplugging. when it comes to preventing outages the power is ours. nobody's ever made breakfast as good as wendy's new homestyle french toast sticks. i've never had french toast this good. not in my life. better than mine?

4 13. well the state of california is moving ahead, making major steps towards phasing out the internal combustion engine in cars and the state regulatory board voted to ban the sale of new gas powered cars in the year. 2035 ktvu tom vacar explains. many industry leaders say this is about setting an example for the rest of the country. the air resources board voted that by 2035 no more internal combustion engine cars can be sold in california. this is very aggressive, technologically difficult goal will transform the auto industry. california has long been a leader in the zero emission vehicle or zev marketplace, pushing for advancement and deployment of zeb technology for over 30 years
4:14 am
. this is another way in which california is pushing the rest of the country and the rest of the world to reduce greenhouse gasses. rapidly automakers see the writing on the wall industry is fully committed. to electrification. hmm we have invested hundreds of billions of dollars are will invest hundreds of billions of dollars. we can build electric vehicles. we have aggressive plans to sell ebs. in fact, the goal for us is to have 100% of our fleet to be electric by 2030. the california rule would also allow after 2035 that one in five of sales could be plug in gasoline battery hybrids. zero emissions is a very tall technological mountain to climb. it looks like we're not going to be able to achieve it. there's going to be some flexibility. i suspect they are going to end up suspending the very large penalties that there are otherwise envisioning. the hearing in sacramento went on a convention in richmond about how the city will become carbon

free. through hydrogen. the cornerstone. chevron's richmond refinery will produce larger volumes of hydrogen fuels excellent, low or no carbon fuels for heavy trucks. industry ships, aviation and fuel cell cars that would directly compete with battery powered cars is committed to providing affordable. and ever cleaner energy to fuel their lives. and to do that safely. move gives the most populous us state the world's most stringent regulations for transitioning to electric vehicles. tom vacar ktvu, fox two news, all right, thank you. tom and california drivers are now looking ahead to some big changes due to the state's groundbreaking efforts to phase out gas powered cars. many are worried about the price of going electric despite saving money on gas, kelley blue book says the current average price of a new electric vehicle is $66,000. those prices could actually soon be going down, though in the near future. we
4:16 am
expect to then get back on a again another downward trajectory on battery prices through the course of this decade, which in turn should make tvs significantly more affordable by the end of the decade. the new rules requiring electric cars will have a huge impact on gas station owners across the state. many owners we spoke to see no need to panic right now. have a good one. the people that i see on a regular basis. most of my customers are in no danger of running out and buying a electric car. they're not running out by any new cars, so they're doing the best they can to survive. so the new rules are expected to reshape the entire u. s. auto industry because california accounts for roughly 10% of our all colors sales in the united states now are ktvu news website has more information on california's efforts to phase out gas powered cars. just go to the homepage of ktvu .com. pam time is 4 16 make

the morning. i don't think there'll be any issues there. they will have temperatures, probably starting off. upper fifties sixties maybe some fog maybe burning off by that time, but it won't be bad. we have a pretty good fog bank again. yet the difference between the coast and inland is again about 40 degrees, almost plenty of low clouds, but it's been a mild to hot pattern inland. once it locks in. it is extremely tough to break down, but it will buy the weekend 88 conquered yesterday went 90 today, although again it could be 88 89 , but it's just such a fine fork. fine line there. eighties mid eighties on the weekend, then it looks like another warm up for next week. monsoon continues to show itself here again during the afternoon, you can see that popping up southern california, southern nevada, central sierra and, of course in the arizona, new mexico, the four corners sixties seventies eighties and nineties low overcast the lows are warmer water temps went up that makes a big difference. sunny inland. nice too mild to warm to hot. 58 in the city 58 in oakland, walnut creek, 59, brownwood 60, lower legs 58 to san jose. and

morning to you and thank you for joining us. welcome the mornings onto i'm dave clark. good morning. i'm pam cook friday morning. august 26th. steve paulson has our forecast. where are you going to start? right here. okay go right here with a satellite picture. which shows if you look close enough, some fog. i have to wait for the visible satellite to show up, and that's not for another hour or so there's a big fog bank out there again. so temperatures really not changing all that much from yesterday. tomorrow they will. those the system moves into the north. so low clouds maybe some drizzle, especially up in the coastal hills on the coast, sunny inland anywhere from seventies eighties and 90 degrees again. so again, we have a pretty big spread on those temps. tomorrow though, does look cooler for many away from the coast. alright sounds here at six o'clock. anything new or we still okay out. there were lights right now, steve, and i hope it stays this way. we haven't had a friday in the new fall season that i've been here for anyway, and we'll see what happens in the last few days, though. it's been very heavy after 7 30 right now it is
6:01 am
lighter than usual. let's hope it stays this way. traffic looks good across the bridge into san francisco. it also looks pretty good on interstate 8 80. it's moving along very nicely on the east bay freeways and the same until bridge. it is 601. let's get back to the headlines. so today, the document detailing why federal investigators searched donald trump's moral lago resort will be unsealed. it's a big deal, the public will actually see the affidavit used to justify the search, but the experts are questioning how much of it we will actually see pam yeah, now, ktvu james torres joining us now to talk about what we can and cannot expect. the only real guarantee is that there's going to be a document unsealed. but what we actually learn from the document. we'll find that out a little later today by nine o'clock our time. that's when the affidavit will officially be unsealed. but the judge making that call is expected to place a number of redactions. this is something that's building up all week long, several media outlets,
6:02 am
including organizations like the new york times. argues the document. the document should be made public to increase transparency. the department of justice doesn't want anything unsealed lawyers. they're argued the affidavit would reveal sensitive information things like witness identities, law enforcement agents involved and the investigation strategy. the federal judge from south florida acknowledged that and says a redacted version of the document will be released. expecting that affidavit to be a good discussion of all of the attempts that the justice department and fbi had to try and retrieve these documents for more lago. now some experts wonder, depending on how much information is made public. will we learn anything at all, depending on what's included in the public version of the affidavit, it could officially answer the big question of why federal investigators came into former president trump's florida home and took a number of documents. it could also potentially spell out what crimes the doj is looking to investigate, spelling out the probable cause for the search will see the details no later
6:03 am
than nine o'clock our time. at the same time this morning, trump's lawyers have a deadline of their own to meet today, presenting an argument to another federal judge. for why they believe a third party arbiter should review the evidence taken from mara lago. of course, the story developing all morning long. we're bringing the updates once we have, dave. alright james. thank you 603 were happening today, the former air force sergeant who pleaded guilty to the murder of a santa cruz county sheriff's deputy will be sentenced stephen correo pleaded guilty to nine felony charges in the ambush and shooting of damon guts wyler back in june of 2020. he's facing life in prison. korea. also admitted to being a member of an extremist group that supports the violent overthrow of the government. the shooting in ben lomond happened while sergeant guts wyler was investigating another deadly shooting of a federal officer in oakland a week earlier. corio has already been sentenced to 41 years in prison for that murder . today there will be another
