On tonight's program, we take a look at several on-going strikes in the Chicago area. First from our friends at Labor Beat TV we will hear about the workers of Sloan Valve in Franklin Park, members of United Steelworkers Local 7999 who have been on strike now since May. Labor Beat attended a rally by the workers last week and we have audio for you from that rally.
After that, more from our friends at Labor Beat. They were also out at the rally held last Monday by the workers for Golan's Moving and Storage. The workers recently became members of Teamster’s Local 705, but after months of unsuccessful negotiations for a first contract, the workers decided the only solution was to strike.
And than in the second half of the program we will hear from some of those who boarded bus here in Chicago to travel to Washington D.C. last Friday to demand that President Obama declare a moratorium on deportations.
