On tonight’s episode of Labor Express we look at the reasons the members of the Automobile Mechanics' Union Local 701 are currently on strike across the Chicago area.
We will also look at a new phase emerging in the fight against gentrification in the Pilsen neighborhood on Chicago’s southwest side. Gentrification pressures have dramatically increased in the last few years as property values are once again on the rise. But a new generation of activists is taking on this decades old fight.
And in the second half of the program we’ll hear about plans to hold a national networking conference of worker activists being organized by UAW Local 551, to be held in Chicago Oct. 6th-8th.
