This is the full 6-6-11 episode of the Labor Express Radio program. Last Wednesday, the stock market took a dive, the deepest plunge in almost a year, after much volatility the last few months. This came as something of a shock to some, as the pundits who have been declaring that the recession is over and that we are well on our way to recovery have focused on the stock market and corporate earnings as their barometer of the economy while the employment numbers have remained largely dismal....

Amjad Al-Jawhary has paid a high price for his efforts to organize workers in Iraq. In 1995, Amjad had to flee Iraq and the regime of Saddam Hussein, because of his union organizing work. He took up residence in Toronto Canada, but Amjad stays in close contact with his comrades in Iraq. He travels there frequently, and acts as one of the few voices in the west for the for the Iraqi labor movement. I aired an interview with Amjad on the Labor Express radio program in June 2005, as the...

On the last episode of Labor Express Radio, I predicted that May Day 2019 might turn out to be the most exciting May Day in Chicago since the mega-marches of 2006.  And that prediction turned out to be accurate. As forecast, 5 charter schools went out on strike that day across the city. They were joined by the clerical workers at the Chicago City Colleges, members of the Federation of College Clerical and Technical...
