Littell’s Statute Law of Kentucky, published from 1809-1819, has the first critically edited compilation of Kentucky statutes. It has long been recognized by lawyers as one of the founding documents of state law and by historians of early Kentucky as an indispensable primary source for understanding everything from the founding of cities and towns, to the regulation of marriage on the early Western frontier.
