Live From The Taped Rugs Studio

The collection of videos presented here uniquely embodies the philosophies and techniques of home recording which have been exhibited in the works of Charles Rice Goff III since the 1970's. Each of these videos portrays a live-in-the-studio recording, representing the music as it happened, without any added audio overdubs nor embellishments. Goff digitally filmed each of these recordings himself, with a Canon PC 1130 camera mounted on a tripod. Each was shot in a different area of the Taped Rugs Studio and features its own camera angles, lighting, costuming, etc. He later edited and visually embellished the videos with a couple of relatively inexpensive video software programs. Goff's viewers see him seated in his most familiar artistic element: comfortably at home and happily sharing his lo-fi artworks with anyone willing to tune in.
The six performances in this collection show off Goff's long song-writing legacy by featuring pieces written from 1980 to the present year. Of all these songs, only "Ritual" has ever been performed for a public audience (in 1987, with Killr "Mark" Kaswan of Disism). To prepare this video collection, Goff had to come up with new instrumental arrangements suitable for live presentation. Careful use of a Boss RC 20X Loop Station Loop Duplicator played a big part in creating the live orchestrations featured here. The basic instruments showcased in these videos are an Ovation Acoustic Guitar, a Korg R3 Vocoder/Synthesizer, and Goff's voice.
