I don't know if this film has anything to do with the Doolittle Raid or not. I do know there is no footage of the USS Hornet, heavy laden with B-25s. Maybe it has significant historical value, but It's lost on me.

This is rare footage of the April 17-18, 1942 Doolittle Raid. This video in not necessarily in chronological order. Ships seen in this video are USS Salt Lake City (CA-25) and two of her SOC Seagull float planes, CS-15 and CS-13 from 00:10-00-26; USS Enterprise (CV-6) from 00:47-01:01 and more; USS Hornet (CV-8) with B-25's from 01:02-01:06; what appears to be USS Ellet (DD-398) from 01:48-01:49. There are two "bean bag drops" by an Enterprise SBD at 02:39-02:50 and 05:19-05:35. At 07:15 on April 18, an Enterprise SBD spotted a Japanese patrol vessel 50 miles ahead and the VB-6 SBD pilot believed he had been seen. Not to break radio silence, the SBD returned to Enterprise and dropped the bean bag with message attached of patrol boat sighting(see video of crewman picking up the bean bag, running to the island, and within 10 seconds the message was on the bridge). If you look carefully on both drops, the SBD rear gunner is seen dropping the bean bag down to the flight deck, especially the second drop. From 07:33-08:00 is most likely tanker USS Cimarron (AO-22) or USS Sabine (AO-25) topping off the carriers and cruisers fuel on April 17 for their run to the launch point. The eight destroyers were left behind with the tankers.
