This is a four part series of reports, titled "Race to the Bottom," was produced in 2015 by the California Faculty Association (CFA), which represents over 20,000 faculty who teach in the California State University system.
The series documents the systematic de-funding and de-valuing of faculty by CSU administrators between 2004 and 2014. During this time, the percentage of tenure track faculty teaching at CSU declined from 43% to 40% (the lowest percentage in over 15 years, perhaps ever), and CSU faculty were the only public school teachers in the state to have their average salaries decline in real dollars (regardless of rank). Meanwhile, according to the second report, "not a single CSU campus has had an increase in tenure-line faculty consistent with student population growth over the last decade."
The series has four parts, which the CFA first published here: http://www.calfac.org/race-to-the-bottom
