in a live report from london. national night out events continue in maryland today. >> people take to the streets rallied against violence in their neighborhood. jennifer franciotti has some details. >> we are here at police headquarters in towson. towson had a huge national night out rally last night. another event will be held in randallstown tonight. this is the 29th national annual national night out. community members come together with police to speak out against drugs and violence. there was a gathering at mondawmin mall. community members gathered to encourage others against a life in crime. >> criminals, when they do not see you, you are looking at them. this is bringing people together
and making sure i know these people and they know me and we can work together. >> it is a yearlong event happening in communities all over the country. the 29th national night out happened last night and more events are planned for today. reporting live, jennifer franciotti. back to you. >> thank you. five new speed cameras are going up today and they're all near schools. here is a list of the new cameras. there is one near southwest academy. another near loch raven high school. wise avenue near patapsco high school. >> a former university of maryland pleads guilty. charges against alexander song include a disturbing the peace. he posted online that a plan to
kill enough people to make it to national news. he must complete 200 hours of national service. a controversial innovation by city housing officials. a couple said they have never missed a payment on their row house. drug arrest records of their adult son shows their address as where his son lives. >> this family is not alone. they have support from the community. the cops are making an example of one family on their own. >> members of the house and avi citigroup have been battling this eviction. they set guidelines can prevent guidelines for people they're trying to help.
>> millions of dollars in help will flood farmers and ranchers for those in drought-stricken areas. hallie jackson joins us live with more details on the story. >> good morning. president obama is announcing a $30 million in help for farmers and ranchers. those programs include one that will help commercial truck drivers that would deliver supplies to people in areas hit hard by the drought. the credit union can lend more money. this drought has spread across daily two-thirds of the continental united states. almost half of all counties in the countries are named national disaster areas. we should no more impact on friday when the department of

there's birth control you don't have to think about taking every day or even every year. i'm painting my arms. i want another child, but not for a while. it's mirena, a small intrauterine conaceptive that's over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy for as long as you want, for up to five years. then again, i'm not sure i want to wait. don't use mirena if you have a pelvic infection,
get infections easily or have certain cancers. less than 1% of users get a serious infection called pelvic inflammatory disease. if you have persistent pelvic or stomach pain, or if mirena comes out, tell your healthcare provider. if it comes out, use back-up birth control. mirena may attach to or go through the uterine wall and cause other problems. although uncommon, pregnancy while using mirena can be life threatening and may result in loss of pregnancy or fertility. ovarian cysts may occur, but usually disappear. bleeding and spotting may increase in the first few months and continue to be irregular. periods over time may become shorter, lighter, or even stop. mirena does not protect against hiv or stds. oh, i can wait a little longer. ask about mirena. when you have time. did you know ? if you choose mirena to prevent pregnancy, it's also approved to treat heavy periods.

tropical storm status. it is a well defined storm and a healthy storm. it will probably regenerate into a hurricane before it makes landfall in southern mexico. we think it will stay south of the texas coast. here home, we have the same setup we had yesterday. there is a stalled front across the state. 73 in columbia. 70 in jarrettsville. you can see this boundary if you plot the dew points. the dew point in annapolis is 74. 66 in westminster. you go east of the boundary and it is humid on the eastern shore. you can kind of see some stuff on the delaware beaches.
south and east of baltimore is the best chance for a thunderstorm today. a mixture of sun and clouds. 20% chance for a thunderstorm. best chance on the eastern shore. high temperature between 86 and 91 degrees. watch for lighting if you take the boat out today. the seven-day forecast -- the chance for rain will go up by the end of the week. a good chance for thunderstorms on friday and some could be strong or severe. the front goes through on saturday morning. most of the weekend will be dry and comfortable with temperatures in the mid 80's. >> your energy bill tends to skyrocket in the summer because of the high cost of keeping your
