first alert radar is tracking another round of snow heading our way. a fast-moving clipper system is moving into the area and it could cause big problems for your monday morning commute. and we're taking a live look at the aramark building in center city here. 33 degrees here at nbc 10. it looks quiet outside this morning, but that's all about to change. good morning everybody. welcome to nbc 10 news today. i'm ted greenberg. it is 6:00 a.m. on this sunday january 25th. thanks so much for waking up with us. let's get right to the sunday forecast with first alert meteorologist, brittney shipp. brittney, no problems during the day, right? >> no problems during the day. it's a going to be a cold and dry start to your sunday although some locations, our temperatures are below freezing. watch out for patchy black ice, but heading into the rest of the afternoon, it's going to be a nice end to your weekend but pushing into your 10:00 hour 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. that's when we'll start to see light snow moving this.

today is a first alert weather day, starting at 10:00 p.m. lasting until monday. this is the reason why. we do expect that light snow to affect your monday morning commute. slick roads expected like snow expected to move in after 10:00 p.m. a closer look at our radar shot all is quiet now, but that clipper system is what we're tracking. just to the south of minneapolis, moving into parts of st. louis, and that's what's going to transition its way closer to us as we head into our overnight hours tonight. right now, 34 in philadelphia 34 in pottstown, 35 in allentown. 29 in the poconos. today's high pushing into the high 30s, low 40s. i'll break down the timing of this next system how long it's going to stick around, that's coming up in i manyy first alert seven-day forecast. >> well some are loving the snow, others not so much but regardless there's much more of

the white stuff heading our way. the next round is just enough that it could make for a messy monday morning commute. and depending on how this storm develops south jersey could be dealing with the brunt of it. nbc 10's matt delucia is live along the atlantic city expressway in hammelilton township. good morning matt. >> reporter: good morning, ted. and throughout the area, the concern right now is that the -- at the atlantic city expressway right now. it's all quiet at the moment. south jersey did manage to escape the snow yesterday. but folks out here are preparing to see some accumulation later tonight, and into tomorrow. now, overnight, the drive from philadelphia down the expressway was not too bad at all. now, in pennsylvania penndot told us they will be watching the roads throughout the day and make a decision on how to get a handle on the next storm later tonight. next of the salting and plow crews are getting some rest ahead of the clipper system and with salt still on many of the roads, that will certainly help until the snow begins to fall.

university hospital. we're working to find out the victim's condition and more details on that shooting. also new from overnight, a philadelphia police officer is being treated for minor injuries after his car was rear ended. nbc 10 on the scene at 52nd and market and cobbs creek. the accident happened around 2:30 this morning. police arrested the driver who they suspect was drunk. happening today in kent county, family members are asking community members to help them search for a missing delaware mother. keisha hamilton and her two kids were the subject of an amber alert two weeks ago. this morning, a search party will meet on main street and chesswald to look for any clues into her disappearance. hamilton was last seen at her home in smyrna on january 9th. the amber alert was issued the next day for the mother and her children. that night, indiana state police found the kids safe with their father cortez hamilton, but keisha hamilton was not with them. neighbors told nbc 10 that she and her husband had domestic

problems. he faces charges of endangering the children's welfare and assault. he has since been extradited back to delaware and is now being held in a correctional center near smyrna. tomorrow morning in burlington county a community will come together to remember a newborn who police say was set on fire and killed by her own mother. a memorial service is scheduled sister 11:00 a.m. at brownsville united methodist church in pemberton. witnesses found the baby on fire in the middle of simon town road on the fight of january 16th. police say the newborn's mother hyphernkemberly high fenner condemn berrn kemnner condemnly dorvilier set the baby on fire. funeral services were held yesterday for aaron flick, his wife, patricia, and their teenage daughter nina. they were shot to death on december 15th. mourners braved wintry weather

yesterday to attend the flick's memorial service. authorities said it was difficult to figure out legal next of kin because so much of the family was killed. bradley stone murdered the family while they slept. tricia flick was his ex-wife's sister. stone also killed his ex-wife, her mother and her grandmother. her teenage nephew survived being stabbed. stone died the next day of a drug overdose. police say stone's kill spreeging spree followed a bitter custody battle with his wife. a drexel university bus caught fire in center city friday night. two students and the driver on board did get out safely. we're told an electrical problem sparked the fire. if you see news happening, please send it to us on the nbc 10 news app. next the kansas city bridge is falling down. why crews imploded the main span over the missouri river. and i'm tracking big changes

good morning. i'm tracking changes as we head into your overnight hours tonight, pushing into monday morning. we are expecting light snow to continue coming down over your monday morning, so that's going to mean a messy commute. but here's what we're dealing with right now. it's going to be a dry and cloudy start to your sunday. temperatures pushing close to average, right around 40 degrees. there's a live look at our radar shot right now. but this is the clipper system that's going to be a fast mover. it will be here by 10:00, 11:00 tonight, and it will bring us light snowfall into our overnight hours tonight, lingering into all of tomorrow. on and off, light snowfall expected for your monday. and then we watch to see if this system turns into a nor'easter bringing us additional amounts

good morning. 6:13 on your sunday morning. 33 degrees here at nbc 10 as we take a live look at the jersey shore. this is cape may in cape may county. and we are tracking more snow. nbc 10's first alert weather radar is showing another winter storm system expected to arrive by late to find. meteorologist brittney shipp is coming up with your full first alert forecast. after we got snow yesterday, it was new england's turn. icy conditions on this major highway near boston caused a grocery truck to flip on its side. parts of massachusetts got up to 8 inches of snow. in north jersey the top deck of this parking garage collapsed after a snowplow was trying to clear it. there's now a crater-sized hole atop the garage at the empire hotel in secaucus hudson county. officials say the combined weight of the snow and the plow

caused the collapse. one car was destroyed. the snowplow operator suffered minor injuries. engineers will now determine if the garage can be rebuilt. new this morning, president obama arrived in india to meet with the country's prime minister. the president and the first lady touched down in new delhi overnight. the white house says the goal of the trip is to strengthen the relationship between the two leaders in an effort to make progress on climate change defense, and economics. this is the first time an american leader has visited india twice during his presidency. this morning, president obama offered condolences to the japanese prime minister after isis released a video online which claims they have killed one of two japanese hostages. the islamic state group is now demanding a prisoner exchange for the second man being held. the militant group initially wanted $200 million to free the men. that deadline passed on friday. today, japan's prime minister said the isis video is likely

authentic and that he is speechless following the news of the hostage's apparent death. he says japan will not give in to terrorism and once again called for the release of the second man being held. at a republican summit in iowa new jersey governor chris christie is sidestepping activists who doubt he's conservative enough to be president. last night, protesters heckled christie and former texas governor rick perry over immigration policies. christie joked to the audience saying, don't they know i'm from new jersey? the governor still hasn't declared himself a white house candidate for 2016 but he told conservatives, they shouldn't let his blunt style turn them off. this week's wednesday's child is a fun teen who enjoys music and sports and is a real people person. the one thing missing from his life, though is a forever family to love and support him. nbc 10's vai sikahema introduces us to melvin. >> melvin is a sweet and

overnight hours, we will see light snow moving in. and that means a messy monday morning commute on tap for us. and then the potential for a nor'easter. so i'll break down what's happening with our weather, coming up. but right now, our conditions partly cloudy skies, 35 degrees, humidity is up. our windchill is at 26. that's what it feels like when you step outside. breezy conditions with our wind speeds out of the southwest at 14 miles per hour. today will be a typical day. our average is 40 degrees. by 2:00 p.m. we'll get pretty close to that. by 5:00 p.m. 37 degrees and cloudy. you'll be able to get in all of your last-minute weekend plans, but we do have changes as we head into our overnight hours. our radar shows us clouds and dry conditions and we'll look all the way off to the west for this next system here. you can see bringing snow already to parts of chicago, rain to st. louis, and this clipper system is going to swing closer to us heading into the rest of tonight. so after 10:00 p.m. that's when we'll start to see the snow moving in. we 9:00 a.m., we're dealing with widespread snowfall. it's going to start even earlier

than that. by the time you leave to go to work, you should be seeing light snow on the roads, slippery conditions expected for us, for your monday morning. we'll see on and off light snow throughout the day. you can see it becomes spotty as we push into the evening, but then things get interesting, as a system slides offshore here we're watching to see what's going to happen as it continues to track up to the northeast. if it stays pretty close to us and it strengthens, we are going to be looking at the possibility of heavy snow the heaviest snow possibly monday night, heading into tuesday. so here are some of the preliminary storm totals. this is from sunday night, all the way into tuesday, if we see that storm strengthening and becoming a nor'easter. we could see 8 to 10 inches of snowfall closer to burlington county here. and then for the i-95 corridor 6 to 8 inches and then further out west we lancaster county 4 to 6. this is only if that clipper turns into a nor'easter and strengthens and stays pretty close to it.

so this is one of the possibilities that we're watching. this is one of those systems we'll continue to update as the models come in. you'll have to stick with us and we'll show you exactly what we think will happen. as we head into the rest of today, it will be a dry start. snow is expected after 10:00 p.m. an messy monday morning commute. we could see anywhere between 1 to 3 inches. this is a light snowfall as we head into the day on monday. but monday night into tuesday, we could pick up 5 to 7 more inches of snowfall if all the conditions are right, with that clipper turning into a nor'easter. so this is a system again, that we're going to continue to watch. as far as today is concerned, 35 to 40 degrees, cloudy and dry, snow after 10:00 p.m. your seven-day forecast shows snow in store for us heading into monday lingering into tuesday, possibly and then we're going the see very cold conditions overnight. temperatures dropping down into the teens on tuesday night, wednesday night, and thursday. >> and brittney it's easy to track the snow on the got with the first alert weather app.

before the second storm, a dry start to our sunday as we take a live look at cape may, but big changes are on the way. good morning, everyone. welcome back to nbc 10 news today. i'm ted greenberg. just about 6:30 on this sunday january 25th. let's get right to first alert meteorologist, brittney shipp. and brittney this forecast is anything but cut and dry, right? >> right. it is a tricky one. but we do know we're going to see a messy monday morning commute and you're fine as we head into the rest of your sunday, but snow is going to start to move in after 10:00 or 11:00 tonight, lasting into our overnight hours and affecting your monday morning commute. there's a live look at the poconos this morning where temperatures are at 29 degrees. when we show you what's happening on the radar, this is the next system we're looking at that will swing into our overnight hours. here's how it's going to break down. closer to 11:00 p.m. we start to see snow moving into parts of the suburbs and the i-95 corridor, northern parts of delaware. and this light snowfall will continue on and off throughout

south jersey did manage to escape that first round of snow yesterday, but the folks out here are preparing to see some accumulation and quite a bit of it later tonight into tomorrow. taking a look at the atlantic city expressway. not too much traffic at this hour. but the drive from philadelphia down the ac expressway was not bad at all. over in pennsylvania penndot told us they will be watching the roads throughout the day and make a decision on how to get a handle on the next storm later tonight. and most of the salting and plow crews are getting some rest ahead of the clipper system. and with salt still on many of the roads, that will certainly help until the snow begins to fall. now, at the moment in new jersey, there are speed restrictions in effect on the commodore, barry, and betsey ross bridges due to road conditions. and out here in the parking lot of the farley plaza, you can see the salt is down. you can also see the shine off the asphalt. we do have some wet roads out here in south jersey so icing is a concern. as we hover around the freezing mark right now and prepare for this next winter storm. live here along the atlantic

city expressway i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> and matt it's easy to track the snow on the go with the nbc 10 first alert weather app. you'll receive alerts radar, and the latest forecast right on your smartphone or tablet. you can download it for free at the app store. new from overnight, in philadelphia investigators are looking into the cause of two fires. flames broke out around 3:30 at this delhi on tursdale avenue in the wissinoming section of the city. officials say several fires broke out at the deli. no one was hurt. and this fire at a philadelphia dry cleaners is also under investigation. flames broke out just before 11:30 last night at cedar avenue and 55th street in cobbs creek. the fire chief tells us the apartment above the store were vacant. no one was hurt. also new from overnight, police in gloucester county are looking at a shooting. this happened outside the campus crossing apartment on mullica hill road around 1:00 a.m. police tell us one person was wounded and taken to cooper university hospital.

attention following his arrest back in 2007. pierce died of an apparent heart attack after police said he stabbed a man outside the cherry hill diner. this morning, police in wilmington are looking for two bank robbers. they held up the wells fargo along philadelphia pike yesterday morning. investigators say one man demanded cash from the tellers, while a second man controlled the customers. according to officers they got away with some cash. a memorial service is set for tomorrow morning in burlington county for a newborn who was set on fire and killed allegedly by her own mother. community members will gather for the service at brownsville united methodist church in pemberton at 11:00 a.m. witnesses found the baby on fire in the middle of simontown road on the night of january 16th. police say the newborn's mother hyphernkemberly dorvilier used an accelerant to set the baby on fire. she is charged with murder and remains in jail after not posting bail. in montgomery county loved

it is a first alert weather day. let's take a live look outside right now and we'll show you cape may. it's a beautiful shot as the sun continues to come out. we are going to see cloudy conditions and the details on the firthst alert weather day goes into in effect at 10:00 p.m. tonight and goes into monday. we could extend this into tuesday depending on the track of this next system. but for sure snow moving in after 10:00 p.m. into your monday morning commute. there's the system a quick-moving clipper that will be here by tonight. you can see by the model there, by 11:00 p.m. along the i-95 corridor, light snow expected stretching into the suburbs and the northern parts of delaware and continuing throughout your monday. this is light snow that's going to come down on and off throughout monday. as far as today is concerned, cloudy conditions 34 degrees by 9:00 a.m. staying dry by 2:00 p.m., 40 degrees. by 5:00 p.m. 37. it won't be until 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. that we start to see the snow moving in. i'll have all the details on what you can expect when this storm system is expected to

philadelphia 33 in glassboro, 33 in atlantic and 36 currently in stone harbor. satellite radar shot shows just a few clouds right now, but quiet conditions expected for the majority of your sunday and then this next system moves towards us as we head into today. so this is going to be a fast-moving clipper and it's going to move right into our region by 11:00. you'll start seeing light snowfall if you move near the northern parts of delaware. as we head into the overnight hours, we're expecting to see light snow on and off through our overnight hours, heading into the start of your monday morning commute. by 6:00 a.m. even if you just get a little bit of snowfall overnight, you could see a messy start to your monday morning and we'll continue to see the snow coming down on and off throughout monday. we could see anywhere between 1:00 to about 3:00 inches of snowfall through monday. now, monday night, heading into tuesday, the question is what happens to this system once it heads offshore. whether it intensifies and stays

closer to our costline and if it does we could see heavy snow. that's a possibility monday night into tuesday, but the first part of this system isn't going to produce heavy snow. it's going to be light and mess up your commute. this is something we're looking at as a possibility, as we push into monday night and into tuesday. so we could see, for your storm totals they could go up from anywhere to 6 to 8 inches. and for some areas in the northern part of burlington county, 8 to 10 inches but this is something we'll continue to update. this is just what one of the models is suggesting as we head monday night into tuesday, and that's if everything turns out the way it should if all the conditions come together to produce a strengthened nor'easter. but as far as today is concerned, it will be a dry start to your sunday, snow moves in after 10:00 p.m. a messy monday morning commute is expected. we could see 1 to 3 inches. monday night into tuesday, that's the big question mark whether we'll get more snow with that system as it intensifies off the coast.
