get ready with your sunglasses. the skies are clear over center city and sunshine bright. 65 and nice and cool at 6:00. a little bit of a wind and northerly wind at 9:00, 73 degrees. up to 79 degrees and still climbing at lunch time today. we will wind up in the 80s this afternoon. i'll go through the forecast neighborhood-by-neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes but a check of traffic with jessica boyington who has a look at your first alert traffic. good morning, jessica. >> good morning, bill. on the vine street expressway this morning, where we are watching out for some ongoing road work that is actually on the eastbound side. this from our cameras around 24th street. eastbound right in here you can see no lanes actually being blocked and traffic allowed to move through the scene. three minute drive time eastbound or westbound. 30th street station, no problems so far not morning. once you get to the schuylkr% @c expressway you're okay as well. you can see right in here all of the cars are green. so if you're heading eastbound from the blue route to the vine

street expressway only 12 minutes there and same thing if you're head westbound into the king prussia area. we can watch for an accident scene. overturned vehicle in new jersey on the admiral wilson boulevard on the westbound side right around baird boulevard one lane is blocked there. that is actually the right-hand lane. left being allowed to squeeze through the area. mass transit, currently no problems or delay. running on time. we are following this breaking news from overnight. friends find a man dead inside his apartment in the francisville section of philadelphia and police say he was shot in the head. katy zachry is live on the scene with the latest. >> reporter: this morning, homicide detectives have been interviewing those two friends who found the man dead inside his third floor apartment here at the corner of 15th and poplar streets. the two friends said they had stopped by the man's apartment

but they found him lying on the floor and bleeding from the head. when the medics got on the scene they found a single gunshot wound. investigators say there was no forced entry and nothing inside the apartment seemed to be missing. >> we also did find one spent shell casing from a semiautomatic weapon just inches from the victim's body. so it appears that the weapon used was semiautomatic handgun. >> reporter: that is one key piece of evidence they are missing. fortunately, they do have the shell casing. now another key piece of evidence police may have in their pocket, they tell us when they walked into the apartment, they were struck by a strong overwhelming odor. we are going to talk more about that coming up at 5:30. reporting live in the francisville section of the city, katy zachry, nbc10 news. all eyes are on virginia this morning. the scene of that tragedy yesterday. this morning, the tv station in roanoke is back on the air after a reporter and her cameraman

were shot to death during a live broadcast yesterday morning. tv viewers heard about the first eight of 15 shots that killed reporter alison parker and photographer adam ward. the gunman, vester lee flanagan, a reporting himts, was a d disgruntled coworker who may have been planning the attack for weeks. he worked at that station and being fired in 2013. his general manager said he was very angry. >> eventually, after many incidents of his anger coming to the fore, we dismissed him. >> flanagan recorded himself killing out the killings and posted that video on social media as police were looking for him. he died of a inflicted gunshot wound. the woman injured yesterday is in stable condition and expected to recover.

at the time of his murder, adam ward, the cameraman, was engaged to a former nbc10 intern from gloucester county. >> she watched the shooting unfold from the tv station. melissa ott grew up in gibbstown and the two got engaged in april. she worked at wbdj and was in the control room watching when the gunman shot her fiance. last night, she posted on facebook, quote. yesterday, we spoke to her uncle in gloucester county. he said melissa was so excited about marrying adam. >> lovely girl and lovely guy. just a tragedy for the family. they were making plans for their wedding and it was going to be like down in virginia home style. >> an hour before adam died, ott

posted about her fiance and shared this photo. you see the balloons and the flowers. yesterday was their last day of work at wdbj. they were about to start new jobs together in north carolina. reporting alison parker's boyfriend also work at the same tv station. she dated chris hurst who was an anchor. he is from our area. he went to conestoga high school and we wanted to temple university. he said in part she was the most radiant woman i ever met and for some reason, she loved me back. he said the two just celebrated her 24th birthday and just moved in together. two police-involved shootings in philadelphia within a span of 24 hours, the latest of those in germantown last night where police arrested five men. now investigators aren't telling us much about this particular case here. they say that the officers fired several shots on pastoria street

last night at 10:30. no one was injured in that incident. five people arrested again. yesterday morning, in a story we brought you as breaking news on "nbc 10 news today," an officer shot a suspect after responding to a robbery. in cobbs creek. a suspect refused to drop his gun and he's in the hospital. police arrested david ruaner in bridgeston yesterday. also in court today, the chef and co-owner of pitcher restaurant. capasso has been arrested on child porn charges last month. they say he sexually abused a 5-year-old girl and shared photos of her online. they also say he talked about his desire to abuse his own

soon-to-be-born daughter. philadelphia is trying to build up excitement for the pope's visit. city officials yesterday debuted a campaign they are calling "i'll be there." they say the security restrictions won't stop the fun for the visitors. the city has a new name for the traffic box closures and calling it the festival grounds. they say plenty of food and beverage vendors there and uber black cars will have the same access as taxi cars. coming up we will talk about the changes to your favorite restaurants during the pope's visit. 7 after 5:00. get ready for another day just like yesterday. brilliant sunshine. our skies are clear right now. once the sun is up, it's going to be a quick warm-up. we will be in the 80s this afternoon but just like yesterday, beautiful conditions. the humidity stays low. it's this weekend that will turn

warmer. in fact, back to july-like heat for sunday especially. right now, though, doylestown 65 and 66 degrees in philadelphia. yesterday at this time, center city was in the low 70s. clear skies, no clouds this morning, the temperatures have come down a bit more. the humidity that was so low yesterday stays low today. nothing to show you here. the radar is clear and not only for the immediate philadelphia area but the entire region. no wet weather. just up to 70 degrees for the pocono mountains. low humidity, bright sunshine. doylestown 78 this afternoon and trenton and mt. holly into the low 80s. along the coastline, 79 degrees for the delaware beaches at rehoboth and cape may low 80s. brilliant sunshine on tap for vineland and dover and nice,

warm comfortable afternoon. lower 80s for wilmington. normal july heat is back this weekend. 89 degrees saturday. the humidity will be low on saturday but you'll notice it goes higher on sunday and it will stick around in the neck week which could lead to some showers and possibly some thunderstorms. i'll show you when those are most likely when i'm back in ten with the seven-day forecast. >> we could use some rain, as long as it's not on our weekend. >> timing is everything for you and your ride to work. jessica boyington is watching the road. >> if you're going now you're at the perfect time. 42 freeway no problems, delays. no road work in the area. you can see if you're headed northbound headed towards the walt whitman bridge or philadelphia or 295, currently no problems. northbound from 55 to the walt whitman bridge a five minute drive time at that point.

rest of the bridges are doing okay. they are nice and clear heading into philadelphia. watch out this for accident scene approaching the ben franklin bridge on the admiral wilson boulevard on the westbound side overturned vehicle around baird boulevard and blocking the right-hand lane. 95 throughout delaware you're smooth sailing so far. ten minutes northbound or southbound from 295 towards 495. next ten minutes more drive times around the philadelphia area. 10 after 5:00. prosecutors say congressman jacques a fattah is trying to influence the potential jurors in the racketeering case against him but fattah says it's part of a campaign to keep him client. we will hear from the congressman about accusations coming up. we will tell you how officials are tapping into technology to help you cast your ballot.

federal prosecutors now accuse indicted congressman chaka fattah of trying to influence the jury pool and filed a motion yesterday saying he should not be allowed to use his good works as a congressman as defense in court. keith jones spoke with the congressman last night. >> i would never do anything improperly illegal. >> reporter: congressman chaka fattah speaking directly to a camera. >> as it relates to these allegations, i'm innocent to each and every one. >> reporter: speaking directly to prospect jurors according to

federal prosecutors who call statements posted to youtube last week, inappropriate. they said the following. in other words, prosecutors say the congressman is attempting to influence a jury. an indictment alleges he misused campaign money and taxpayer dollars, and now faces charges of bribery, money laundering and conspiracy. i talked to the congressman. he didn't mince words, calling this motion today almost laughable. >> what they want to do now is muzzle me and say they don't want me to speak. >> reporter: congressman fattah told me the indictment is full of half truths and false statements. >> the viewers can judge for themselves, the government can have, not these particular, but for eight years having an investigation and trying to smear me with leaks and now come forward with an indictment which is absolutely going to be proven

to be false. >> reporter: keith jones, nbc10 news. keith asked the congressman what he plans to do moving forward. he said regardless of the charges he is facing, he plans to continue to work for his constituents in philadelphia. we also have to note here he is married to nbc10's renee chenault-fattah. she is mentioned in the complaint and labeled as an affiliate of the fattah enterprise. the fed alleges she tried to fraudulently sell a car and pay closing costs on a vacation home. she is not charged with anything and denies any wrongdoing. renee is on leave from nbc10. now to the case against kathleen kane. the state supreme court yesterday released hundreds of documents containing pornographic images and e-mails, kane alleges those were sent and received by state employees from their state e-mail addresses. and she has claimed that the criminal charges against her stem from her office's investigation of those e-mails resulting in retaliation of

those who circulated those e-mails. kane faces charges of leaking grand jury information and lying about it. 5:15 now. online voter registration is launching today across the state of pennsylvania. according to the governor tom wolf pennsylvania is the third state to offer this service. delaware already offers that service and new jersey does not. a new light will sooning shining on two and a half miles of broad street in west philadelphia. >> the lights will line hamilton street to government avenue. other lights are going up along broad street now. they stand 55 feet tall and lights programmed to be on every night from dusk until dawn. we will see how the street lights are shining out there on your way to work this morning. nbc10's first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington is watching the area roads for us.

>> starting off on 422 or at least we are trying to. show you this drive time here right around trooper road. eight minute drive time eastbound from 29 up towards the schuylkill expressway so no problems in either direction if you're heading to the schuylkill. you'll be just fine there. no lane restrictions. on the blue route, doing great. 14, 15 minutes at the most in the southbound side where that typically where we jam up in the morning hours from the schuylkill expressway up towards 95 so no problems there. watch out for this accident scene in new jersey approaching the ben franklin bridge on the admiral wilson boulevard on the westbound side around baird boulevard, overturned vehicle and police activity on the scene and it's blocking out the right-hand lane. mass transit no problems or delays. coming up in the next ten minutes, we will check in with the schuylkill expressway. just about 18 minutes after 5:00. about ready for another

beautiful day today. so nice yesterday with lots of sunshine and low humidity. going to do it again today. clear skies. a view from the center city from the comcast center and waiting for sunshine right now to warm temperatures from the 60s into the 80s this afternoon. like yesterday, the human is staying low, so low, some people might be considering to do a little dance. cooler than yesterday. 4 degrees cooler this morning. 66 degrees. i thought i saw jessica dancing there moments ago on camera. do it on camera for us, jessica. >> oh, no! >> clear skies at beach avenue and if you're dancing, you'll be dancing in sunshine today at the shores and comfortable conditions. 63 in northeast philadelphia. 59 in wilmington. at the shore you can find a couple of very low 70s for north cape may and cape may point but heading to the north up the coast, it's 50s and 60s. wood vine is 59 degrees and currently 66 degrees at the marina in atlantic city and mullica township to 56.

sidewalks and streets and homeowners are responsible for the sidewalks. it's a law commonly used across pennsylvania. residents we spoke with gave mixed opinions. >> i'm happy to do it because if you don't, then they are going to raise your taxes if they have to do this whole town. >> it's just unfair and for a lot of people it's creating a tremendous hardship. >> officials are giving people plenty of time to make the months left to do so. anx drink company with a rich history in this area is getting back in business. we will tell you about the new beginning for a-treat soda. a rebound on wall street. what everybody wanted to see. stocks leaped at home here yesterday. we will break down the numbers and tell you what kind of impact it had on the asian markets overnight.

time is 5:23. lehigh valley a-treat soda is back in business. a developer announced a deal with a-treat owner to buy the soda business and they resumed production about a week ago at the coca-cola bottling plant in bethlehem. >> wall street rebound. stocks rallied yesterday and now investors are looking ahead what will happen today? landon dowdy is track thing trends and here is the cnbc business news. >> good morning.

wall street looks to build on wednesday's rally and a future higher open this morning and dow rising 600 points the third best gain ever and best day since 2008. investors taking heart from positive economic data and comments from a top person who says a business rate hike in september looks on less likely. we get data this morning on unemployment and pending home sales and a report on second quarter gdp and may show the economy grew more than expected this spring and now rising 1619 points to 16285. nasdaq is also up. back to you. >> thanks. 5:on 24. the temperatures in the 60s. that will be a treat. sunshine and low humidity but changes ahead for the weekend.
