one. >> it has been. we've seen heavy rainfall move through the philadelphia area. conditions are improving right now. but it's been a drenching for trenton, lower bucks county into burlington county in new jersey and philadelphia. they've seen heavy rainfall. it's tapering off right now. the problem is water that's already on the ground. a flood warning in effect for northeastern philadelphia. area of concern is around penny park creek. even in other areas we're seeing ponding on the roadways this morning. not going to be an all day rainfall but the clouds are going to be here all day. the chance of more showers and possibly thunderstorms as we see temperatures not warm up all that much. 66 degrees in the lehigh valley with showers. 70 degrees in delaware and 71 in philadelphia. as the day goes on, we will see more showers and thunderstorms. not an all day rainfall. the chance it will stay with us into the afternoon. temperatures pop into the low 80s in philadelphia and the suburbs. 70s inç interior new jersey an

cool at the shore. a rainy day and 64 degrees. it will be heading out of here, we'll go through the futurecast, show you when you're most likely to see rain during the day today. that's when i'm back in ten minutes. let's show how the roads are looking. katy zachry has your first alert traffic. >> as you said, the first period of intense rain we'll be expecting has moved out. that means some of the issues of ponding on the roads in new jersey and pennsylvania. those have dissipated. we still do have issues around the area. there was police department activity reported on 95 northbound just as you approach the philadelphia international airport. this was the camera shot. i believe they were focused on this vehicle. they have since left. it was affecting things in the right-hand lane as you made your way 95 northbound. very light volume. virtually no cars on the roads. it really wasn't affecting your commute if 95 northbound was part of it. moving into juniata park section of philadelphia, g street at wyoming avenue. there was a car that crashed

into a pole earlier and wires fell on that vehicle. a number of emergency crews were out there just trying to clear the scene. my best advice would be avoid g street at wyoming avenue. then lastly, we are following a clearing situation, 76 eastbound right at south street. there was an accident reported and that has cleared. lauren? all week long nbc 10 is live at the jersey shore for a look at what's new and exciting this summer at the shore. today, we're live in ocean city. that's where nbc 10's matt delucia is live there morning. matt, this is the weekend beachgoers and workers have been looking forward to this all year long. >> they don't look forward to this kind of weather. we got light rain in ocean city right now. of course, we're wrapping up the first weekend of the season. plenty more weeks to go. we are hoping for some good weather. from the beach to the boardwalk to the bikes, ocean city is ready.

>> the cool ocean water this time of year has some trading the beach chair for a bench and perhaps a doughnut or two. >> we've been coming down here for years and enjoy the ocean city boardwalk and the beach and the shore. >> flags are waving from the american to the open, nothing beats that first bite of summer. >> i have a group of guys that come over on that bench, most of them 80 and over. >> tom oves and his name sake restaurant have been a summer tradition for 47 years. here at 4th and the boardwalk people wait in line after waiting months for their fresh doughn doughnuts. >> have a cup of coffee. wee deal with a good group of people, they're faithful, they come back. >> friendly competition, right? >> yes. if i run out of things, i can go down almost to anyone around and they'll loan it to me and i'll

the descend aenlts and friends of the 314th infantry regiment held their 98th annual service at the washington memorial chapel in valley forge park. they want people to remember the sacrifices the soldiers made in the name of freedom t. helps me to remember all those that did participate in the wars and didn't come back. >> the 314th has met every year since the end of world war i. ♪ in south jersey, deptford showed off their patriotism at this memorial day parade. people lined the streets to enjoy the marching bands and fire struck tru fire trucks. the kids took part in a bike decorating contest. downingtown canceled its parade today.

bensalem township postponed its parade until next sunday, june 5th. avalon canceled its parade. it will hold a ceremony indoors instead. as we get more cancellations and changes, they'll pop up on the nbc 10 app. also track the weather in your neighborhood and get alerts about problems. now your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather with meteorologist bill henley. heading out this morning, you're looking at dreary conditions. we've seen big downpours overnight. heavy downpours, flood advisory still in effect. during the day today, there's a chance of some showers and thunderstorms. most of day we'll be looking at cloudy skies with a chance of some occasional showers and scattered showers and possibly some thunderstorms this evening. but it's not going to be an all day rainfall. dreary conditions, see scattered light showers moving through the shore communities. cape may, sea isle city and atlantic city. inland we've seen heavy downpour pmz a couple inches on the

grounds from storms overnight. it's starting to thin out right now. scattered showers, just to the east of philadelphia in camden and gloucester counties. into burlington county. we're seeing heavier downpours moving towards pemberton right now. in the lehigh valley, the showers are tapering off, too, though are there are efew more showers to the west, the chance of showers will be with us during the day. there's still a lot of moisture streaming up from the south. what was tropical storm bothny is pumping moisture into the atmosphere. occasional showers, more likely at the shore, farther inland, there's still a chance of showers. it will not be the steadier rainfall you'll see at the shore. look at the shore communities getting the heavier rain pushing inland through new jersey. still a chance of quick-moving showers at 1:00 this afternoon. but then we'll start to get breaks in northern new castle county. see you the showers move into the suburbs at 3:00. by 6:00 in the evening, not a lot of shower activity.

the next line of showers and possibly thunderstorms for the possibly thunderstorms for the lehigh valley will fizzle by the philadelphia and wilmington. the forecast is calling for lots of clouds and a chance of some showers. low 80s for bethlehem and easton, kutztown, 85 degrees this afternoon. occasional showers possible. mostly cloudy skies for west chester and phoenixville. in philadelphia, clouds for mount airy and fairmont. byberry up to 85 and a chance of a shower today. steadier showers more likely in new jersey. at the shore, look how cool things stay, right along the coast. inland, temperatures in the low 70s now. they stay in the low 70s this afternoon. for delaware, dover, rehoboth beach, clouds and occasional showers possible during the day today with high temperatures in the 70s. look at the ten-day outlook to show you when this finally clears out when i'm back in ten minutes. thanks, bill. as i was driving in this morning

i was thinking about the wet roads it's a good thing more people aren't on the roads this holiday. >> it was really coming down. a lot of people are down at the shore for the weekend. katy zachry joining us live with a check on the new jersey roads this morning, katy. >> unfortunately a wash for a lot of those memorial day activities. some people might be getting a head start on their commute home from the memorial day weekend. if you are driving in new jersey, you had a smooth drive ahead. earlier ponding affected things on 295 around 168. that has since cleared. this is route 42 at route 41. very light volume. the roadways are considerably wet even though the bulk of that rain for this time has moved out as bill said. we'll see a lot more of it throughout the day. your drive times on route 42 northbound as you make your way between 55 and the walt whitman bridge, five minutes, 295 between routes 38 and 168. moving into pennsylvania, this is route 309 at the pennsylvania

5:45 and here's a live look at citizens bank park. that's where the phillies will salute the nation's military just before tonight's game against the nationals. the teams will observe a moment of silence and wear special camouflage uniforms. fans are invited to write thank you notes to military members. also today, the devon horse show and country fair continues in chester county. the show and the mare grounds got a $1 million makeover this year. you'll notice the improvements to the performance rings and more space for vendors. the gates open at 8:00 this morning. peco is shutting down the power for some customers on purpose this week. planned outage comes during the final stage of a construction project. the outage will impact people in abington, jen continuetown and cheltenham. the outage continues through june 10th. all customers have been notified. the construction project is

aimed at improving peco's ability to deliver electricity to those customers. and the gorilla exhibit at the cincinnati zoo will replain closed until further notice after a child fell into the enclosureç and came face to fa with a 400-pound primate. >> we do want to warn you, some of the video we're about to show could disturb some viewers. cell phone video captured the scene as the young boy slipped into the gorilla exhibit. the primate appears to protect the boy at toys but witnesses also saw the animal drag and throw the child. the director of the zoo says the child was not under attack but was in danger. >> they made a tough choice and the right choice, because they saved this little boy's life. >> after a trip to the hospital, the boy's family says he is home

and he's doing fine. the parents are not being charged. the incident triggered huge social media response. a facebook group was created and got more than 100 likes in less than two hours. the group says they want charges brought against the people responsible for the gorilla's death. a mexican soccer star is rescued after being kidnapped. allen polido was taken after leaving a party saturday night. the 25-year-old was founded alive nearly 24 hours later. officials haven't given details about a possible motive but we do know the soccer star was part of mexico's 2014 world cup team. this video was taken by a student on a school bus on the way home on friday in texas. you can see the rushing water on one side of the bus and high floodwaters on the other.

this morning, parts of texas remained under water near houston, some roads are covered by at least eight feet of water. one man says the water came crashing into his business. >> i was trying to pick up computers up off the ground, save everything i could, put it on top of the bar but the water had already risen that high. meteorologists say there could be more rain on the way later this week. now your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> we've had heavy rainfall overnight. the clouds are thinning out. we're not going to see it clear out. we will get a break forb much of the day. there's a chance of more showers inland. philadelphia international reporting 68 degrees and rain. it will stay cool. we'll see the temperatures climb into delaware. and a bit warmer in the lehigh valley. the rain will shut off and the numbers will be climbing.

the jersey shore, that's going to be dreary for most of the day. that's where you'll see the best chance of showers. that and interior new jersey. 70 in society hill. northeast philadelphia airport. bustletown 68 degrees. andorra, 69 degrees. your hour by hour forecast, plenty of clouds in philadelphia. there's still a chance of showers. it's not going to be an all-day rainfall. 78 degrees by noontime today. 4:00 near 80 degrees. nowhere near the upper 80s and low 90s, what we've seen lately. the suburbs might see breaks in the clouds. that's at noontime. the temperatures mainly cloudy skies, a chance of showers for the suburbs. upper 70s this afternoon. the lehigh valley could get a little bit warmer with a few breaks of sunshine at noontime, 4:00, 79ç degrees. clouds but there's a chance of more showers and an outside chance of a thunderstorm during the day. to the south, delaware will keep temperatures in the 70s for most of the day. 78 by noontime. still a chance of daytime

showers for delaware. it's more likely you'll see rainfall in new jersey and at the jersey shore. it's going to be a rainy day with some breaks in the clouds and breaks in the rain. you can't see 77 degrees by lunch time but it looks like it will fall short of the 80s today for interior new jersey and at the shore, it will struggle to get into the low 70s. may stay into the 60s for much of the day. the chance of showers continue into the late afternoon hours. you can see the stream of scattered light showers. it's starting to increase, steadier rainfall moving through the delaware beaches. lewes, rehoboth beach as well. that heads across delaware bay into south jersey. as far as philadelphia, the big downpours have moved off to the northeast. you're moving through northern new jersey right now. there's still a chance of more showers as we go on. for the lehigh valley, we've seen downpours overnight. still a few showers in the area and a chance of more showers during the day today.

all this moisture is coming up from the south from tropical depression bonnie. bonnie no longer a tropical storm. certainly a tremendous amount of moisture coming our way. the futurecast shows at 10:00 this morning, scattered showers in philadelphia but the heaviest rainfall at the shore at that hour. the forecast, a ten-day outlook has improving conditions for tomorrow. once we get past the clouds and the rain today, 88 degrees tomorrow afternoon. on wednesday, low 80s. we'll stay dry and sunny on thursday. a chance of showers returns for friday and saturday. drying conditions sunday, another round of showers possible on monday. we have lots of sunshine for tuesday and wednesday. >> thanks, bill. that wet weather out there could really make a mess on the roads and really cause all kinds of problems. >> it's not the only problem drivers are dealing with right now. katy zachry joining us live with an alert for drivers in delaware county. we're in the glenolden

good monday morning. it's memorial day. this is a live look outside at the schuylkill expressway. this is right near 30th street station. and for the turnoff at the vine street expressway. you can see flashing lights in the distance. there's a lane restriction because of ponding from some intense rain we received overnight. earlier this morning, that had cleared. it is back in the news right now because it is affecting traffic again. the right lane is blocked because of ponding on 76. the fight to support gay youth and stobbe bup bullying g the lacrosse field. this was the 2nd annual courage game at penn park yesterday. the courage game was inspired by 12-year-old braden lang who had the courage to come out to his family and friends. and how is thisç for a wil ride? take a look at what happens here. he is known as the human arrow.
