severe storms mainly this afternoon into the evening hours. it will be a hot day with temperatures near 90. and winds out of the southwest at 5 to 15 miles per hour later this afternoon. we have a first alert weather day this afternoon. this morning we'll keep it dry for the most part. may see a stray shower. this afternoon between 3:00 and 6:00 we'll see potential for strong storms. the main threat would be for the leave, burks county, northern and central jersey. and the p.a. suburbs. this afternoon 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. they could be strong but will move out quickly. the potential for damaging winds will be the biggest threat. also some hail and lightning. just keep an eye to the sky if you have outdoor plans. make sure that you count this weather into your plans. where you see the yellow is from the storm prediction center. and again, damaging winds, heavy rain and the potential for hail.

we're quiet right now. a little bit of ground clutter showing up. back to the west we are watching the energy that will move through later this afternoon between 3:00 and 6:00 from west to east. all this energy up here will be moving through later this afternoon. it's a cool start if you haven't stepped out yet. 50 in the lehigh valley. 51 in the pa suburbs. 61 in delaiware. temperatures mainly in the low 50s but hot this afternoon. the temperatures will go up quickly to near 90 degrees with the winds and the potential for the storms. we'll talk more about that and time it out and look at the ten-day coming up. ♪ this morning singer christina grimmie is dead after she was shot at a concert in

orlando, florida. she was a contestant on "the voice" in 2014. monique braxton has more on the murder. >> reporter: investigators say at this point this morning the motive still is not clear. but christina grimmie was shot in an area packed with young people. >> it was like five or ten minutes we were standing there. then you hear two like shots. >> reporter: fans were gathering to meet performers after a family-friendly concert. nbc's "voice" finalist christina grimmie was signing autographs when the gunman approached and opened fire. witness's cellphone video caught the blast. then he turned the gun on himself. police say what was fun and exciting turned tragic. >> the suspect walked up and shot christina. at that point we know that her brother tackled the suspect. that's when the suspect shot

himself. >> it's extremely scary because i am in love with her, you know what i mean? i literally am so obsessed with her. >> reporter: orlando police say they don't know the gunman and don't know if the singer or the gunman know each other. "the voice" tweeted out this response. there are no words. we lost a beautiful soul with an amazing voice. our hearts go out to the friends, fans and family of the real grimmie. live in the digital operations center. monique braxton, nbc10 news. philadelphia police are looking into the shooting of a man found dead inside this car in east germantown. it happened on herman street near bayton. investigators tell us the victim, who was in his 20s, was shot in the head just after 2:00 this morning. he is not charged with a crime, but eagles wide receiver nelson agholor a facing sexual assault allegations involving an exotic dancer. the woman accused him of

inappropriate conduct at cheerleader's gentleman's club in south philadelphia. the eagles acknowledge their 2015 top draft pick is the focus of a police investigation but would not comment further. eagles defensive lineman connor barwin says he was with agholor at the club for a short time on thursday but doesn't know what happened after he left. here is what we know from police. >> we're currently going through the investigative process, very early in the stages. it will be quite some time before we move into anything else. >> agholor, who was in town for offseason workouts, left for florida. his lawyer insists that agholor is not involved in any criminal conduct whatsoever. let's head to cumberland county where a schoolteacher is under arrest accused of sending sexual messages to a student. richard super richard super is charged with having inappropriate communications with a

13-year-old girl. we're told he has been suspended with pay. >> i should live for other days. i pray the lord to guide my ways. >> last night friends gathered for a candlelight vigil to remember the lives of two philadelphia children allegedly killed by their mother earlier this week. investigators say sophia hines and her two kids were visiting family in florida when she killed them. she allegedly held a bedsheet over the mouths of her 7-month-old son and her 3-year-old daughter. we spoke with her daughter's teacher last night at the vigil. >> i talked with their foster mom. she said they were in good spirits, they were happy and everything was good with them. this is the last thing i thought of. how sick of a person can you be to do something like that. >> sophia hines is charged with two counts of premeditated

if you are thinking about flying to cuba, the journey is about to get a lot easier. you'll soon be able to fly directly from philadelphia to havana, something that hasn't been allowed from any american city for 50 years. philly is one of five u.s. cities getting the privilege. the federal government granted frontier airlines permission for eight flights a week from philadelphia to cuba. the move comes as diplomatic relations between washington and havana continue to improve. travel experts say now is the time to explore a tropical ìá% back in time. >> you'll still see the old
