visibility. excellent visibility for wilmington. it's isolated but it's starting off parts of new jersey, 55 degrees right now. meantime, sunshine in the lehigh valley. look at a few scattered clouds over easton. 73 degrees by 9:00. by lunch time, near 80 degrees. warming into the 80s for philadelphia. a little bit of warmup and you'll see the fog disappear in new jersey, 86 degrees inland. 70s at the shore. we'll be watching clouds building in the suburbs. there's a chance we could run into evening showers. late afternoon this evening, the clouds will be taking over. there are more showers in our future. got your hour by hour forecast when i'm back in ten minutes. for now, let's see how traffic is moving. jessica boyington with first alert traffic. thank you, bill. we're starting on the schuylkill expressway around belmont avenue. still an eastbound drive time from the vine street expressway to center city. average speeds into the 60s as well. no problems on the schuylkill right now. we are seeing relatively light

traffic. in philly, we are watching for a water main break. lehigh avenue, closed between 13th street and broad street because of the water main break. they're directing traffic around the scene. >> jessica, thank you. crossbow killing, this morning, a woman is dead and police have arrested her boyfriend for the crime. matt delucia is live at the scene in northeast philadelphia. neighbors say this wasn't the first time police have been called to this home. tell us more. >> philadelphia police say they have been here before for domestic violence issues. we're on the 3100 block of willits road. i'll step out of the way. there are cleanup crews here right now. a lot of that crime tape remains in front of the home where this all happened. after the woman was shot, she managed to run next door looking for help. this happened just before 9:30 last night. police showed up at the home to find the woman in the doorway. she was bleeding heavily from the chest. she was rushed to aria torresdale but died a short time later.

police say the bolt of the crossbow went through her chest, through a couch and into the wall. >> police have been out here a couple times before for him, according to the neighbors, things appeared to start to go downhill within the last month or so. but culminating tonight with this incident with the crossbow. >> police picked up the suspect at the house right here. he was arrested without incident. investigators are still trying to make sense of this crime at this hour. for now, we're live in northeast philadelphia, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. it is 6:04 and new from overnight, a man is dead after police say he broke into his exgirlfrie exgirlfriend's home. police got the call around midnight. a man was found shot in the head. police say the man was climbing through the window of his exgirlfriend's home when he was shot by her current boyfriend. police say there were two kids inside that home but no one else was hurt. we're still trying to find out

if anyone will be charged. 6:05. nbc 10 learned this morning, folcroft police officer chris dorman recovered from being shot seven times just days ago is expected to get out of the hospital today. we're learning more about what was happening as colleagues rushed to come to his aid after he was shot. >> i was shot! i was shot! i was shot! >> during the moments where officer dorman was in mortal danger, it was confirmed that an emergency dispatcher's computer suddenly began to reboot. this dispatcher moved to another computer but didn't lose touch with those responding to get dorman help plus track down the shooter. a second problem involves summer temperature swings interfering with police radios. >> periods of time when the radio frequencies go out, they don't hit the tower, they don't hit the antenna, there's nothing to trigger this. this is an act of nature.

the bad part is it's happening. the good part is, the county is responding. >> in this statement to nbc 10, delaware county council ordered an investigation of all emergency communications systems during the officer dorman shooting and beyond. a gunman shot officer dorman during a drug investigation. >> the officer suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including to the face. but he is expected to make a full recovery. the suspected shooter, dante island remains in jail. he's charged with attempted murder. court records showed he served years in prison on federal gun charges. yesterday, officer dorman took a call from country singer kenny chesney. folcroft police posted this photo from the hospital. chesney apologized for mistakenly saying dorman had died from his injuries during a tribute at his concert in philadelphia saturday night. he mentioned the officer after social media lit up with calls for chesney to give a shout out to the officer who is a big fan of the country superstar. chesney tweeted about the call saying of officer dorman, quote,

from center city, it's time for sunglasses. we'll see a lot of sunshine before clouds start moving in. partly sunny skies this afternoon. another warm day, back into the 80s this afternoon for philadelphia. the clouds will be increasing later today, turning cloudy this evening and it will be tracking some showers. parts of the area may see evening showers. we're starting off with sunshine. look at wilmington, delaware. no sign of fog there. there are a couple spots of fog in delaware. you'll find it in central delaware right now. 59 degrees in greenville, 64 in wilmington, odessa is ç64 degrs and smyrna, dover in the low 60s, that's where you'll find fog to start with this morning and into interior new jersey. starting to improve, in fact, it's rapidly improving the visibility in millville, just a few minutes ago, was down to a quarter mile visibility, just a mile visibility a minute ago, now up to three miles. dover is socked in dense fog. no sign of the fog for wilmington or wildwood.

dollar today. also, secretary of state john kerry will be in london to talk with uk officials about the nation's decision to leave the european union. meanwhile, a revolt is brewing in the uk over the decision to leave. an online petition calling for a do-over vote has more than 3 million signatures so far. scotland's leader says she'll look at all options to honor her people's vote to stay in the eu. a presidential candidates are having more to say about the uk's decision. in scotland over the weekend, republican donald trump said the same anger that fueled the brexit vote in britain will spill over to the u.s. and yesterday in indianapolis, democrat hillary clinton blasted trump for promoting his golf courses in scotland while financial markets around the world took a dive. >> bombastic comments in push len the times can actually cause more turbulence. and to put the interests of the

american people ahead of their >> trump's campaign chairman called clinton the epitome of the establishment. a new nbc/"wall street journal" poll shows clinton leading trump by five points. 6:17. today the u.s. supreme court will finish its current term by issuing opinions on three remaining cases. one case deals with theç regulation of texas abortion clinics. another case involves the corruption conviction of former virginia governor bob mcdonnell. the third case concerns a federal law that keeps guns out of the hands of people convicted of domestic violence. in california's capital, investigators are looking into a white supremacist rally that turned violent with people getting stabbed there. ten people got hurt at the rally outside the state capitol in sacramento. police say hundreds of anti-fascist protesters confronted a smaller group of

a day of weekend summer fun at an amusement park turned terrifying in scotland where a roller coaster went off the rails. the ride dropped at least 20 feet to the ground, injuring ten people, eight of them children. police shut down the park after the accident. there's no word yet on the victim's condition or the cause of the crash. as west virginiaens continue surveying damage, people brace for more rain. one woman said her community smelled like death. the national weather service issued a flash flood watch for 22 counties. yesterday, president obama declared a major disaster in the

getting a pretty nice start. temperatures in the 50s and 60s. we're seeing a good deal of sunshine in philadelphia and the suburbs. clouds over new jersey. the fog is quickly disappearing from new jersey,ç delaware seeg sunshine and wilmington. there's fog in central delaware. with the temperatures climbing, any fog around this morning will disappear. 80 degrees by lunch time today. the clouds will be increasing, the suburbs, bright, sunny skies at king of prussia. later this afternoon, that's when the clouds will take over for the suburbs and the lehigh valley. that will give us a chance of scattered afternoon -- late afternoon or more likely evening showers. before those showers move in, 88 degrees in the lehigh valley. look at the suburbs, 85. 86 degrees for philadelphia. and at the shore, the temperatures will be held back by winds off the ocean. 77 degrees, the high temperature with partny sunny skies at the shore. it will turn out to be a pretty nice beach day.

one of the west philadelphia shootings involved a 17-year-old boy now in stable condition after getting shot in the arm. the detectives say theç teen w standing near 54th and vine street when someone opened fire from across the street with a semiautomatic weapon then took off running. so far, police have made no arrests in this case. the second shooting in west philadelphia wounded a man just before 11:00 last night. nbc 10 was on creighton street. police say that is where the victim was shot twice. officers took him to the hospital where he is now in critical condition. a 42-year-old woman is killed in her own home and police tell us she was murdered with a crossbow and the suspect is her boyfriend. nbc 10's matt delucia is live in northeast philadelphia. walk us through what happened, matt. >> you heard right. we're talking about a crossbow shooting here. we're on the 3100 block of willits road in northeast philadelphia. this happened last night about 9:30. i'll step out of the way here.

there's a hazmat crew doing cleanup here at the home. there was a lot of blood involved. you see the crime tape in front of the home where this happened. police on the scene here, they showed up to find the woman in the doorway of a neighbor's house. she was bleeding heavily from the chest, taken to aria torresdale, rushed into surgery but died a while later. from police gathered from the scene here, this was a violent and usual crime. >> the bolt from the crossbow penetrated her body, went through the crouch and was in the wall. >> from what they've been able to learn from neighbors, the man has been going through some issues over the last month or so. and police tell us they have been called to the home here a couple of times recently for domestic violence issues. for now i'm live in northeast philadelphia, matt delucia, nbc

10 news. 6:34 this morning. happening today, township leaders in horshamç want to co up with a plan to have the best water quality in the country. there's a township meeting happening tonight at 7:00 in the horsham township community center. the horsham water and sewer authority will be there and they're going to consider a number of remediation options to address the chemicals found in drinking water. tomorrow night, the law firm corrected to consumer advocate erin brockovich is meeting with neighbors. they want anyone who thinks they have been impacted by the tainted water to come to upper moreland high school in willow grove. earlier this morning, the firm announced it was investigating the water situation. the wa the wawa welcome america festival begins today. >> it leads up to the biggest

now your nbc 10 first alert weather with met[ologist bill henley. >> the sun is up. we have sunshine and temperatures in the 60s to start with. it's going to be another warm, summer day. won't be as sunny as yesterday. clouds will be coming in during the day. 81 degrees. partly sunny skies at noontime. 84 degrees at 2:00. a look at the winds at 12 miles an hour. those are going to persist into the late afternoon hours. that will help with the warmup today. it will bring in more moisture. suburbs will start with sunshine, 59 degrees. 75 degrees at 10:00. sunshine will start fading this afternoon. in fact, cloudy skies by 4:00 this afternoon. the lehigh valley, nice and sunny right now. nothing more than a few high clouds there. 75 degrees at 10:00. middle 80s at 2:00. by late this afternoon, that's 4:00. we could see cloudy skies and a chance of some late day showers. but in new jersey, the clouds will be disappearing, at least

6:43. 64 degrees and from our jersey shore bureau this morning, three men are facing charges after what atlantic city police are calling a large drug bust. police say they pulled over michael buckman, tyrone nelson and abdul allah friday night for speeding. police searched the car and say they found nearly 300 bags of

heroin and 17 grams of cocaine inside the car. all three are charged with possession and intent to distribute. police in atlantic city are warning about a drug they say is so dangerous they they're changing how they do business. it's called fentanyl. it's 40 to 50 times more potent than heroin. two detectives were hospitalized after a small amount became airborne during an investigation they were involved in. the drug enforcement administration is telling officers to wear gloves and masks during drug busts. agents are trained to give themselves narcan, a drug that can stop an overdose. the nbc 10 digital team spent months on the streets investigating the problem of opioid addiction in our area. we spoke to people who struggled with addiction, their families and people who are trying to change the stigmaç of addictio. the report is called "generation addicted." it's available on the nbc 10 app right now.

today, folcroft police officer chris dorman recovering from seven gunshotç wounds is expected to get out of the hospital. a gunman opened fire on the officer while he was conducting a drug investigation on friday. the suspected shooter remains in jail charged with attempted murder. now to a story we've been following throughout the

morning. a woman dies after being shot with a crossbow. nbc 10's matt delucia is live in northeast philadelphia. hat, what are police telling you. >> philadelphia police say it's not the first time they've been called to this hour -- house. the woman was shot with a crossbow in that house, then ran next door to the house on left looking are to help. this happened just before 9:30 last night. police got a call to come out here, they found the woman in the doorway of the neighbor's house bleeding from the chest. the crossbow went through her body, through a couch and into a wall. the suspect is the victim's boyfriend. she's been arrested without incident. neighbors say the man has been going through issues over the past month or so. as of right now, investigates are still trying to piece together exactly what led up to this man pulling out that crossbow against that woman, a weapon that is typically used for hunting.
