>> good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. >> and i'm vai sikahema. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley who's got the neighborhood forecast, bill, plenty of sunshine today. >> we'll see a lot of it. there are a few low clouds, kind of a murky view looking across the delaware and philadelphia. we'll see sunshine and 74 grows at 8:00, 11:00, 82 degrees. however, not all sunshine just yet. we have fog that's developed in some of the suburbs and into wilmington. that's a foggy view from frawley stadium as the temperatures climb, the fog will disappear. it's only a problem first thing this morning. not everybody is seeing it. completely clear. king of prussia, that's a live view. 73 degrees at 9:00. the entire area back in the 80s again today. more sunshine today, partly to mostly sunny skies, 88 degrees in philadelphia, upper 80s for the suburbs and new jersey except at the shore where it will be the low 80s thisç afternoon. sunshine will be bright in the

lehigh valley. already nice and clear. 87 degrees today. sunshine will break up the fog this morning and just a few scattered clouds this afternoon for delaware. we'll go through the forecast hour by hour. i'm back in just a few minutes. first, let's get an update on the traffic situation. jessica boyington standing by. >> thanks, bill. we are watching 95 and these are our cameras from the wells fargo center. approaching the broad street area. you might see some of this. you can see all traffic is moving by. it might not tie you up too badly this morning. a few vehicles involved. use caution with that just as well. also some penndot crews there, police activity, they are over into the right-hand shoulder, though, not blocking any of the lanes so traffic can still move through the area. we're also out in burlington township, a serious accident involved with a pedestrian involved as well. route 130 closed around columbus road. big problems in new jersey and

updates on 95. more of this when i'm back in ten. >> jessica, thanks. 6:02. happening today, opening statements are scheduled to begin in the trial of pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the montgomery county courthouse with a preview. matt? >> tracy, out of 100 potential jurors, 12 or selected, six men, six women plus four alternates. kathleen kane entering the courthouse yesterday morning as a defendant. the pool of jurors face questions from both sides. this trial could last at least a week. kathleen kane is accuse of leaking sensitive grand jury material to a newspaper and lying about it to a grand jury. she has a large legal team by her side, including a new york city lawyer and former montgomery county district attorney. kane said she did nothing wrong and the case is result of retaliation over a pornographic e-mail scandal.

on that topic, the judge said that issue cannot be brought up as a defense in that trial. we will hear opening arguments. that's the next step. kathleen kane still serves as pennsylvania attorney general even though her law license has been suspended. live in norristown, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> thank you, matt. there will soon be more places to buy booze in pennsylvania. businesses that sell beer to go can now apply for licenses. they will also allow them to sell take-out wine. businesses who apply for the new license could have wine available by the end of the month. you'll see a change to sunday hours at state stores. 6:04. new details on a car crash in north philadelphia that killed a 3-year-old girl. police are investigating if street racing caused the accident. a car struck a silver honda with a family inside of it, 2nd and york streets last night. police say the girl was thrown

from the car on impact. they say it was unclear if she was buckled into the car seat officers found in the car. the mother was not hurt, the grandmother had minor injuries. police are questioning the driver of the other car, who did stop. a live report at 6:30. a street racing group claims one of its members died in a racing dispute. the philly street race team released a video which they say shows the moment the gunfire erupted. you can hear 20 shots fired as police scattered alongç essingn avenue in southwest philadelphia. this was early sunday morning. several bullets struck and killed a well-known racer who goes by the name of mexican rob. no one else in the crowd was hurt. this morning we're learning more about the family in the murder/suicide in berks county. mark and megan short were found dead along with their three children inside their sinking spring home saturday. they all had gunshot wunounds.

an apparent suicide note was found. the couple had been going through domestic problems and megan short planned to leave her husband. >> mark was trying to make it work. he took them to disney world in february to try and bond the family together. and evidently it didn't work because she still wanted to get out of the marriage. >> mark short's family is handling his funeral arrangements while megan short's family is taking care of her and the children's arrangements. >> a delaware teen accused in the deadly attack on a classmate will have to wait until friday to learn if she'll be charge as an adult. yesterday, a judge heard arguments about whether the case should stay in family court. amy joyner francis was beaten in a bathroom in april. the suspect is charged with

negligent homicide. two others are charged with conspiracy. police in south jersey are warning people about heroin causing a spike in overdoses in gloucester county. the heroin is stamped with the names red snowman and superstar. police in gibbstown, paulsboro and franklin township had to use narcan to revive victims over the weekend. the prosecutor's office says if you have athis dangerous heroin, you can hand it over to police with no consequences. some delta flights are still delayed and canceled because of yesterday's computer outage. >> we told you about this yesterday morning. 250 flights are canceled nationwide as the airline works to get everything back online. the airline will hand out refunds and travel vouchers as a result of the problem. delta canceled more than 700 flights and delayed more than 2,600 others. that was yesterday after the computer failure at its atlanta headquarters. around this time yesterday morning, the airlines said customers whose flights were canceled or delayed for more

way. the first of it, first thing tomorrow morning. we'll see scattered clouds this afterno afternoon. we should stay dry as we go into the late evening hours. shores popping up in delaware we go into the early morning hours tomorrow. that's 5:00 tomorrow morning and it won't be just tomorrow morning. later in the morning, showers in the area and as we go into the afternoon, we'll likely see showers and thunderstorms develop in philadelphia, delaware and south jersey. that's 1:30 tomorrow afternoon. today, we are going to be dry. and see more sunshine today. so fog disappears. temperatures climb. 77 degrees at 9:00 in philadelphia. 86 degrees by 1:00 this afternoon and sunny skies, just a few scattered clouds for the suburbs, 80s today. middle 80s for the lehigh valley. a quick warmup into the 80s by 1:00 this afternoon. delaware, you'll see the fog disappear. by 9:00 it will be gone.

the shoulder. no big problems because of that. we dop have other things going on. one over in new jersey out in burlington township. we have a really serious accident that was actually reported on route 130. it's taking out most of the lanes headed southbound right around columbus road. we're seeing that here on our map system. that string of red is where that road closure is. it's a pedestrian-involved accident as well. that could be serious problems or delays because there may be an accident investigation or a long one that will be under way because of that. i'll be paying attention to philadelphia international airport. 95, no big problems, no major delays. there have been cancellations for delta airlines, up to four we know of right now. definitely check before you head out the door. >> a new training among olympic athletes involving an ancient healing tech neeg thatnique thae rage. and creek rescue, we'll show you how crews saved a stranded dolphin at the jersey shore.

this week except sunday. jacqueline london is in rio with our local athletes. her live reports continue this afternoon and tonight on nbc 10 news. take a look at this dolphin rescue at the jersey shore caught on video. this happened in cape may county on sunday. members of the marine mammal stranding center and firefighters spent ten hours freeing this dolphin from a creek. they rescued the seven-foot dolphin into a net, driving the animal to the delaware bay instead of the ocean. >> we assume that we'd do better letting him go there where he was more familiar with it than on the ocean side where there's tons more people. >> neighbors said it's the first time in 30 years they remember a dolphin getting stranded in a creek. experts say the mammal may have been looking for food before getting trapped during low tide. 6:17. we continue to watch that accident on 95 north near the

airport. >> jessica, give us an update. >> the good news, actually, there's not a lot of traffic moving by the scene right now. it looks like we're see something improvements. there was another vehicle there earlier, at least a penndot crew getting ready to tow someone out of theway. not anything that's happening too major right here on 95. these are our cameras from the wells fargo center facing this direction. so northbound approaching the philadelphia international airport and around the broad street area. that's where you'll see moving by the stadiums. you can see all traffic is moving by northbound, no gaper delay, also headed southbound. if we move into new jersey, this is burlington township. an accident reported with a pedestrian involved. a big accident investigation will be under way because of this right here. route 130 southbound at columbus road, completely closed off for that investigation in burlington township. we're watching an accident on the pa turnpike. we'll check in with the

schuylkill when i come back. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> 19 minutes after 6:00. the sun is up and we're going to see bright sunshine at the shore today to warm temperatures into the 80s. just very low 80s at the shore. inland, though, still areas of fog to deal with. the thick fog is zero visibility now in codesville. half a mile in blue bell. it's down to a quarter mile, dense fog for mt. holly and wrights town and thicker in toms river. quarter mile visibility at atlantic city in the at airport while millville, wildwood, dover, not seeing the thick fog. it is in delaware, wilmington, delaware under two-mile visibility. the fog will disappear. that will happen this morning, this afternoon, partly so mostly sunny skies, 80s for the suburbs and the lehigh valley. for new jersey, middle to upper 80s this afternoon. no sign of fog this morning for most spots, hammonton will warm

to 85 this afternoon. we'll be warmerç in delaware, wilmington, the fog disappears, partly to mostly sunny skies this afternoon. a typical nice summer day today. we have changes ahead. this afternoon, the humidity will be coming down. on the way, later in the week is a heat wave. the temperatures are really going to be ramping up for thursday and friday in the lehigh valley, 90 degrees. look at philadelphia. low 90s on thursday. middle 90s on friday. it will feel more like 100 degrees. it gets steamier for dover. you'll feel the initial humidity. temperatures stay in the 80s for the rest of the week. that's later in the week. today, we're starting off dry, showers and thunderstorms will also come along with that heat and humidity. and the first of them could be arriving tomorrow. not today. partly sunny to mostly sunny skies, 88 agrees this afternoon. storms in the morning tomorrow and a chance during the later morning hours and into the

donald trump's running mate will campaign in pennsylvania today. mike pence is scheduled to hold a town hall near lancaster this afternoon. the indiana governor is trying to lock up conservative votes for the presidential presidential ticket. political analysts see pence as a calming balance to donald trump's outgoing personality. in detroit yesterday, trump outlined his plan to boost jobs and make america more competitive. he proposed cutting the number of tax brackets from seven to three. trump said he would lower the tax on businesses from 35% to 15% and he's offering a tax deduction on child care costs for middle and lower income families. clinton is expected to reveal her economic plan in detroit on thursday. jobs is her focus while campaigning in st. petersburg, florida yesterday. clinton did not directly address donald trump's remarks but did promise more support for small businesses while touring a brewery.

please would like to hear from you. 6:35. three new jersey state lawmakers want to put a stop to distracted driving. the new legislation is broad and would find any activity unrelated to driving. under the bill, feigns would range from $200 to $800 and a suspend license. most drivers in new jersey believe texting, e-mailing, reading and grooming are the top distractions behind the wheel. meanwhile, rutgers university students are paying millions of dollars in parking tickets. >> a new report says last year the school handed out 90,000 parking tickets which comes to five tickets per driver on campus in 2014, rutgers students paid $5 million in tickets. most of the tickets were for drivers who didn't have permits to park where they did. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> clouds overhead and fog, too. check out frawley stadium.

that. >> refund never came, so she contacted harry hairston and nbc 10 responds. >> for the past three months, teresa hines has been using a wheelchair to get around. she's working from home to manage these family own properties, properties she used to visit until a recent health concern. >> i knew i couldn't stand on. >> reporter: she says it turned out to be a fracture in her leg. >> how do you think you broke it? >> old age. >> reporter: hines tells us she spent four days in a hospital and then came here to the fork manor nursing home. she paid $3,600 for a two-week stay, up front. >> you went there to get physical therapy. >> maybe a little activity. >> reporter: she decided to leave and hire a private nursing care. the nursing home agreed she was due a refund.

>> i stopped at the main office and said when will i get my refinanced? within a month. >> reporter: but it didn't arrive. >> i called again, you'll have that money in three to four weeks. >> reporter: still, no refund. >> she called nbc 10 responds. >> i see the success you have. >> reporter: five star senior living, refund recovered. a nursing home rep hand delivered this check to her home. five star senior living sent us this statement, it reads in part, quote, we work to expedite payment as soon as the inquiry came in and are pleased to resolve the matter. >> thank you so much, harry, you're my hero. >> hines says her private nurse is working out just fine. she hopes to be able to get without her wheel they're soon. her refun for $1,729 which puts our nbc 10 responds recovery

coatesville. light fog for pottstown, dense fog in mt. holly and wrightstown. in south jersey, wilmington, that's quarter-mile visibility there. south jersey, atlantic city is reporting quarter mile visibility at the airport. but the temperatures will be climbing. the fog will disappear. we'll see the temperatures warm from the low 60s in the lehigh valley and the suburbs and low 70s for delaware and philadelphia. warming into the 80s this afternoon. and new jersey, 65 degrees in medford. cinnaminson is at 67. people perren to, 62 grows. some of the cooler temperatures and the higher humidity this morning is giving us the fog to start with. but the humidity will be dropping. it turns less humid this afternoon as the day goes on. you can see the high humidity to start with in philadelphia. as we go into the noontime hours, that number comes down significantly. later this afternoon, 45% humidity. a nice turnaround there. heat and humidity building later this week. there's a heat wave ahead. not today. but later this week, the
