today but show you when to plan around the 60s coming up. back to you guys. >> gene: we continue to follow the construction on mass pike as old toll booths have been coming down. >> sara: so far things are running pretty smoothly out there. we will check with michael henrich who's up in sky fox. michael, already seeing some progress on the construction work. >> michael: absolutely. we are seeing progress, and yet we are also seeing a change between yesterday and today. take a look at toll area right now. you see the new pavement in the middle of your screen? that is where the center tollbooth used to be. massdot just started the project on friday night and they were supposed to be removing last few weeks and they are already open and here is the change from yesterday. yesterday it felt like everybody stayed away from the pike and everything went really smoothly. now compared to what i was seeing on the ground yesterday

volume and when we were just flying in sky fox from the allston-brighton toll area to where we are here over weston and you're taking a look now at those eastbound lanes going back that way toward boston, we are seeing that slowdown that you might expect on the pike. it remains to be seen how much of a roll the tolls are actually playing with that the slowdown today verses a sheer volume of cars that seem to be returning to normal routine on t fingers crossed there were no major incidents on the roadways because that's with the toll situation over in allston-brighton and to get you a better feel how that is going. we will go back over the area for the next live report in a few minutes. for the greater traffic picture, let's once again send back into the studio. catherine parrotta has live drive time traffic. catherine, how is it looking overall. >> catherine: map slow, jammed up medford and somerville,

through quincy milton north and jammed up route 1 all the way from lynnfield to saugus and again as michael pointed out, slow in pockets on the pike and 128 not looking too too bad, slow in the usual spot. wanted to tell you about this, though. severe delays on red line because of disabled train, park street, learning this is because of a pit fire at pa, street station and looking to gather more information on that for you and build in extra time if you're a red line commuter and involves going through park street somehow. ov the map, route 3 southbound, multi-vehicle accident right there at route 4. look over here too, route 2 eastbound accident before 495 in littleton, not seeing severe delays in that one. look at live cameras, you're backed up on the leverett connector, pretty slow over the zakim too but volume pretty typical for this hour. here are drive times for you right now. route 1 as i was pointing out, 45 minute drive time, that's very unusual, only averaging 17 miles per hour.

boy was out with his parents trick-or-treating when the woman driving the silver car hit him. two people that live on the street tell us briefly stopped but then did end up taking off. someone, however, did get the license plate number, and police stopped her a short time later. her car was towed and she was taken in for questioning. this neighbor whom we know was full of people at the time, and this is a very popular spot for trick or treaters and one woman we spoke to said her daughter's boyfriend was one of the people that >> bleeding it is in head and on the side. >> jessica: little boy was taken to hospital here in local and moved to tufts in boston. the cut on his head was serious but thankfully not life-threatening. thank again, we did learn in the last 30 seconds or so, the driver of the car that hit the little boy will be cited. still working to get some more information on that from police, including what the citation is

allston-brighton you can see things are operating right on time and as we showed you a moment ago those toll booths are up in the sidelines and cars still going through it. so again, everybody has kind of crossing fingers, people stayed away yesterday, more people back on the roads today but hasn't led to huge issue on the pike. overall it had morning commute and catherine parrotta with live drive time traffic to see how things are going with bigger picture. >> good news from the pike elsewhere on the map, especially 93, always a problem spot, but you're jammed up to about stein am all the way to somerville and jammed up on route 1 as well and on 128 jammed up there and woburn and burlington. new accident here on the map, 128 southbound, right near exit 42, salem street in wakefield. again, congested area to begin with. also a new accident. this is 93 southbound an accident right there at the zakim bridge.
