celebrations. meteorologist shiri spear with a look at when clouds and wind will move in. >> shiri: the clouds will be the unsubstantial thing coming into town. a cold front draped across northern new england, rain and clouds as well. by the time it reaches us the air will be so dry, all the rain and all the snow dries up. passing clouds by lunchtime. starting off nice and clear. 48 in boston and plymouth. 42 in nashua, new hampshire. 50 in new bedford. but i am still watching those temperatures drop off. this afternoon you can see the passing clouds there late morning, early afternoon. the hour-by-hour forecast. this is for lowell and applies to most of us southern new england. 48 degrees by 8 a.m. 10 a.m. comes along in the lower 50s. that's where we stay. this afternoon temp also cool behind that cold front. we brighten up again but man, oh, man, that wind starts cranking.

julie has traffic. >> things looking good 93 and route 1. south of the pike, expressway, no issue president braintree split. 12 minutes on route 1 from 128 to the tobin. 20 minutes on 93 south. 23 minutes on 128 southbound from peabody to the weston tolls. we by begin with 4:00 with breaking news. this is the scene right now in portland, oregon as police in riot gear are clashing with police say that started as a protest but is now a riot. we have seen video of demonstrators shooting fireworks in the direction of officers and police say things have been thrown at them as well. cars have also been vandalized . some of the officers fired smoke canisters and flash bang grenades to disperse the crowds. that is the smoke you see in the video. they are shutting down roads and saying this is an unlawful assembly. 1 a.m. in portland right now

to update you throughout the morning. >> protests across the country. one of the demonstrations in one city. president-elect donald trump took to twitter to address the situation. he tweeted thought message pointing the blame for the outrage writing in part professional protesters incited by the media are protesting. very unfair. those protests happening as the final results from arizona came in two days after the election. we are learning arizona went red. meanwhil t is getting ready to take over the oval office. fox25's blair miller takes a look at the long conversation between president obama and his successor. >> that meeting happened here at white house inside the oval office, you would have thought was an awkward meeting with everything that was said on the campaign trail, but it turns out both sides were pretty relaxed. the president-elect arrived to meet with the president, the first time the two have ever met for a meeting that trump

neighbors tell fox25 crystal haynes this is not the first time they have seen police at the house. >> i can't make anything out involving a child, i believe. >> reporter: marlborough police came to this place on harrison place for two adults and a baby unresponsive inside. the baby neighbors say 2 months old dead at the hospital. >> i don't like the idea of the baby. no. i don't understand why -- what happened at a >> we need an ambulance up here please and the rescue. >> reporter: middlesex county district attorney tells fox25 that a 23-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman are being treated at a local hospital. jasmine benitez says that young woman was a classmate of hersed a marlborough high school. >> i don't know the full story, but i thought they were pretty all set and happy families.

says this is not the first time he has seen police activity at the house. >> quite a few times police have been at that house. >> reporter: nicole stowe lives a few houses down and is shocked to hear about the tragic event. >> they always say hi. they were very nice. very simple. >> reporter: reporting in marlborough, crystal haynes, fox25 news. >> daniel: fox25 learned that the department of children and families are investigating. the agency reports this as a criminal they are working with state and local police. it is now 4:07. from his bourne are working to track down the man accused of attacking a teenager as she walked to her school bus stop. it happened near pure tan and elderberry roads. someone attacked the 14-year-old from behind. >> choked her, put her to the ground, put his hands under her stomach so no way for her to defend herself

woman saw what was happening and ran to help. the suspect is a white man of medium height in his 20s and 30s driving an older model sedan blue or gray. we are learning more details of a rollover crash on 495boro. one person was seriously hurt. it happened around 9:30 last night shutting down two lanes of the highway. "the globe" reports a woman was behind the wheel and has life-threatening injuries. police are still investigating the cause of the crash. violent break in has now died. 77-year-old joe man in fisher died yesterday morning in the hospital. last month, police say two people attacked fisher and her 95-year-old thomas hardy in their home in orange. hardy died in the attack and fisher was found seriously hurt. two people joshua hart and britney smith of athol are facing charges for hardy's death. the pair was arrested days later in virginia.

now to a story you will see only on fox25. an off-duty state trooper killed two people and will only be spending 120 days in jail. prosecutors asked for five years in jail but a judge imposed a much lighter sentence. now the victim's brother and uncle are speaking exclusively to john monahan about the decision. >> we wanted to see justice and we don't think we saw justice. >> reporter: tim sat down with fox25 frustrated at no one is at fault for the fatal head opinion on collision involving an off-duty state trooper that left his sister, susan mack o'er and her daughter, juliet, dead. >> he was at fault for something. speed and alcohol alone. >> reporter: john basler was not on duty back on september 22, 2013. he was found guilty of driving drunk with a .19 blood-alcohol

crushing the front end. susan died instantly. juliet at the hospital. >> they were very close. >> the mother and daughter were inseparable. this is the last picture of the two taken at the red sox game that night. on the way home, they were killed. after a five-day trial, a jury found basler was not guilty of motor vehicle manslaughter and motor vehicle homicide. >> it boggles our mind that is not a contribute not a contributing factor to the end result of their death. >> reporter: it is that question called causality in legal terms of that frustrates tim. >> we don't have any revengeful feelings for him. if there is any pain right now it is with the justice system. >> reporter: that frustration is why tim spoke to us. he wants his sister and his niece to rest in peace. on the way home from the courthouse, he stopped at the scene of the fatal crash to say goodbye. >> put some flowers to say

>> reporter: i am john monahan, fox25 news. 4:16 now. a judge awarded $4 million in damages to a cambridge couple who claimed their irish nanny killed their baby girl. the couple filed a wrongful death lawsuit after their 1-year-old died in the harvard square apartment in 2013. the murder charges against ashley brady mccarthy was dropped last year after the medical examiner changed the baby's cause of death from the couple's lawyer say they know mccarthy doesn't have enough to pay up, but yesterday's luling keep her from make anything money from movie or book deal. we check traffic and weather every ten minutes. this is important and i want to make sure you are aware of it. the needham line service is suspended along the entire line. began last night through 8:30 and will continue through sunday. alternate bussing will not be provided. if that is a line that you

hanging tight where they are. by 8 a.m. 45 degrees and we will get up to 50 in the worcester area today. a lot of stuff will rise into the mid- to upper 50s. and we have got a period of clouds that come through between 10 a.m. and about 1 p.m. that's our front. a front that is stirring up rain and snow in northern new england and future cast kind of breaks it down running into such dry air here that is can't dry as it tries to get down to the ground. 10 a.m. points north of the boston and north of the pike and partly cloudy skies. and by 1 p.m. we have got those clouds focused across the south coast, cape and islands. not a lot of clouds. ends. you mostly sunny for many of you today. this afternoon sustained winds, 15 to 25 miles per hour. and even stronger gusts in that, so it is going to be very wind blown for any activities and parades you plan on attending here for veterans day. 57 degrees in boston and

manchester, new hampshire only 50. remember cold front passes through those points like southern new hampshire first, and kind of stunts the warm-up there since it gets to new bedford or plymouth or hyannis later in the day. temperatures allowed to warm up considerably more even knocking on the door of 60 degrees in new bedford. tonight, a lot of 20s on the map and not just 20s. it is 20s with wind. we will start out feeling much cooler than that because of wind chills. tomorrow's highs up to 50 in upper 2340z nashua and beverly. and then upper 50s on sunday. we warm up nicely, but tomorrow morning, watch out for those wind chills. wind chills in the teens and 20s at daybreak. mostly sunny skies. what you will find late in the day we have passing clouds and you will wake up to some of those on sunday. brighten up and turn milder with a switch in the wind direction. the seven-day forecast of the weekend falls view. 57 degrees today with the winds developing and continuing into your saturday morning.

exotic fruit flavor inside. brookside. for all your sides. two people accused of a carjacking and stabbing two people is now behind bars. the crime spree started in connecticut and ended in a worcester neighborhood. chris flanagan talked to woman where the arrest happened in her driveway. >> reporter: this is where the chase ended in her driveway. she was upstairs with her 2-year-old daughter and had no idea what was unfolding.

thought she would get inside the house. something she could have done or just attacked me. , me or my daughter. >> reporter: the two suspects both from connecticut, a 21-year-old man and and woman were quickly arrested by mass state troopers. started in connecticut where police say they stole a car, crashed it, and then flagged down two women. when they stopped to help, police say they stabbed them and stole their nissan that led in a child chase across state lines and go to worcester. he saw it unfold with his ladder working next door. >> i show here and all the police cars, boom, boom, the only thing i look at and the suspect when they put her into custody. >> reporter: twoments suspects were arrested and taken to jail. the nissan rogue towed. >> i was scared. i was shaking.
