meteorologist jason brewer, you're tracking a lot of things today. >> jason brewer: yes. and the wind just picking up now. it's only going to get worse. let me show you this band of rain coming up south from the north, moving at 40 miles per hour. it's not going to last more than 20, 30 minutes in your town. it's headed to hampton on the sea coast about 6:00 this morning. away from the nantucket and vineyard, outer cape, much needed rain. it's still snowing out in the berks. but that snow rain line will make its way eastward. not worried about any accumulation here in eastern mass. but 9:00 in the morning, enough cold air moves in from the west. where places like worcester, and the higher elevations and hills of northern worcester county, you start to see that changing over. this goes through noontime. a couple of snow showers may

all the way to the coast. there's wind to keep track of as well. those straight ahead. >> jason: developing this morning, right now police are searching for two people who they say stole a car and crashed it into a house. >> heather: this morning, fox 25 stephanie coueignoux is live for us at the northborough police department. stephanie, state police were chasing the car a few minutes before it crashed. >> reporter: yeah, mass. state police telling us that they ended up stopping that highway. just a short time later, they encountered this situation. these are some photos given to us by the homeowner's son. in these photos, you can see the suv ended up crashing into the front of this home here on hudson street. earlier i spoke with the homeowner who told me the impact was so big, the front door was barricaded shut. thankfully no one was hurt. you can imagine, a very scary

life. >> we did everything we can. >> reporter: workers shocked and upset as osha investigates the accident sunday afternoon. >> he was unconscious. he was still breathing. there was a lot of blood. >> reporter: the cut off saw involved in the accident lay at the bottom of the trench that another worker sam ram month nelly had been in. helping the victim lay a new construction for a new construction home. >> he was cutting an iron pipe in the hole and the saw kicked back at him. and cut him. in the throat. we tried to apply pressure. we tried to keep him up right. first responders carried the victim who had been working for a private local company, out of the trench and into an ambulance. >> the coworkers did great work with what they had, obviously. paramedics did great work. and doing the best they could to control bleeding and maintain

charged with driving with italy owner hanging outside of the door. police responded yesterday for an assault and battery report. when they got close they saw that truck and its owner just hanging on. his arm edged in a window and the driver speeding down hopper street swerving side to side nearly running the man on the outside into parked cars. eventually the owner fell off and the driver got out and ran off, leaving the truck in gear. officers chased and took him into a custody after that violent sight. that 17-year-old is facing a dozen charges. >> jason: happening today. donald trump is meeting with candidates to fill the open spots in his cabinet and other positions. former new york city mayor rudy giuliani and chris christie at his private golf course in new jersey. giuliani being considered for secretary of state.

a search is open right now for a pair of suspects in northborough. they abandoned their car. this after they drove into a home. >> jason: it happened at 1:00 on hudson street. the good news, no one in the house was hurt this morning. stephanie coueignoux is live at the police station this morning, following the investigation. stephanie, police actually called off their chase shortly before the crash? >> reporter: yeah, this all started when mass. state police say they spotted that suv speeding down chase after the suv got off of the highway. a short time later, they found that suv once again partially inside of a home. the homeowner's son gave me these photos just after that crash. you can see the black suv sticking out of the front door right there. thankfully no one was hurt. but the homeowner told me the damage was so bad that they have to find a new place to stay.

they might have to split up the family while they wait for their home to be fixed. the homeowner's son was the first person to wake up and ran down the stairs. his home mom told us, her son heard the two suspects arguing before they ran off. >> he said that one of them should stay. it was an accident they should stay and deal with it. and the other one said, we've got to go, we've got to go. and they ran. >> reporter: so i asked them told me, it was a river and swampy area. and she told me it would be hard for the suspects to get very far. again, no word exactly on what direction they would take off in. mass. state police searching for the suspects. since 1:00 this morning, they still haven't found the suspects. we're going to continue to check in with them and get any updates. coming in 30 minutes, what inspectors say actually

room. in northborough, stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> heather: stephanie. thank you. a springfield man facing multiple charges this afternoon including killing a dog. a jack russell terrier chihuahua fix. he was walking with its owner when another man came up and started arguing friday afternoon. the man identified as edwin harrison is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting the dog. witnesses sa away as if nothing happened. harrison was a convicted felon and also accused of trying to hide that gun when running from officers. police say when they arrested him they found dozens of bags of heroin and cocaine packaged for sale. now being held on bail and due in court tomorrow. >> jason: a peabody in court this morning, happened thursday morning on route 62 according to police. the sale of news reports that ryan mccarthy was a passenger in

mccarthy accused of getting out of the car and shouting at the other driver. at his arraignment he pleaded not guilty. he was told to stay away from the other victim. mccarthy is due back in court in january. >> heather: an investigation under way in the death of a kayaker. the man's body was found off of channel beach in hull. that kayaker identified as 57-year-old douglas kin weymouth. but it took hours for police to learn his name because he didn't have any identification on him when he was found. officials tell fox 25 that is becoming a common problem in water deaths along the south shore. now the town of hull is hoping to get some new rules in place for rental companies in hopes of getting them in place by next summer. >> the questions, can you swim, do you know where you are, do you know what the wind conditions will be in this afternoon, before putting in a

light rain could turn to light snow before the end of this broadcast. watching between 9:00 and 10:00 here in orange or worcester. already a .25 inch this morning. boston checked in under .10 of an inch. temps in the 40s in most locations at 9:00 a.m. not concerned about snow anywhere until you get the highest hills of worcester county. where you see the middle 30s, around keene and could see a coating of snow as that cold air continues to move eastward. could see it change over to a few snow showers in southern new hampshire here late this afternoon. then tonight, that cold air continues to make its way over toward the coast. and that might be enough to support some scattered snow showers, some flakes all the way over to the east coast tonight. really not any accumulation, other than maybe a coating in a couple of neighborhoods possible. with any of those heavier snow

even near 50 degrees right now. so not particularly cold. winds not particularly strong just yet. i wanted to show you the current winds, though. because, look, counter clockwise right here. so that's where my low pressure center is. and it's making its way northeastward. we're seeing gusts now beginning to pick up. got my first gust near 40 and new bedford. the vineyard at 25. talked about the south coast beginning to feel the affects of the strong winds today first. so is what you get. we're just not going to be able to warm up. you see temperatures stuck in the 40s, if not falling a little bit by mid to late afternoon. the wind advisory is up today through monday. gusts 50 miles an hour possible in a few spots. so the hour by hour wind gusts by 11:00 a.m. 30 to 40 miles an hour along the shore line in particular. and the highest elevations as well. waking up monday morning, gusts

stephanie? >> reporter: yeah, they say that they started the chase because that suv was speeding down 290. but they ended up stopping after the suv pulled off of the highway. however, just a short time later, they ended up encountering this situation. these are photos given to me by the homeowner's son. in these photos you can see that's the very suv mass. state police were chasing. now partially inside of a home right there. now, i did speak with the homeowner who lives o street. and he told me the impact was so big when that suv crashed into their home. that the front door was barricaded shut. thankfully nobody was hurt. as you can imagine, a very scary situation. everybody was sleeping at the time. it was just about 1:00 a.m. this morning. they woke up to this incredible noise and found that suv stuck in their front door. >> it was amazing. they said that because of the way we have this little deck

the house. >> reporter: now, police say that the two people inside of the suv got out after the crash and ran away. they've been searching for them ever since that crash happened. again, very early on this morning. so far, though, they haven't caught those suspects when we last checked. we're going to continue to do that. but coming up in 30 minutes, the item that inspectors say prevented that suv, again, from going in, as well as t heard between the two suspects before they ran away. in northborough, stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> jason: this morning, osha is investigating a terrible accident in duktsdz. a man killed by the saw he was using when it kicked back and hit him in the neck. fox 25 christine mccarthy reports. >> we did everything that we could. >> reporter: workers shocked and upset as osha investigates the

duxbury saturday afternoon. >> he was unconscious. he was still breathing. there was a lot of blood. >> reporter: the cut off saw involved in the accident lay at the bottom of the trench that another worker, sam roma nelly had been in. helping the victim lay a new water line for a new construction home. >> he was cutting an iron pipe down in the hole there. and the saw kicked back at him and cut him. in his throat. we tried >> first responders carried the victim who had been working for a private local company out of the trench and into an ambulance. >> the coworkers did great work with what they had, obviously. paramedics did great work. and doing the best they could to control bleeding and maintain airway. and transport to the hospital. >> reporter: did you despite their efforts by early saturday night, police had confirmed he had died.

trying to take him into custody. he will be headed to the boston court for assault of a police officer and then he will answer to charges in connecticut. the injured officers were treated and released from the hospital. >> jason: this morning, the driver accused in this hit and run crash in chelsea has been arrested. we showed you this video yesterday showing a minivan running into a 72-year-old woman and driving off. now thanks to helpful tips this weekend, police were able to identify 20-year-old arnold hernandez in that hit and saturday morning. they picked him up yesterday in revere. he's now facing several charges, none of which his wife knew about when we talked to her yesterday. >> he's a very good person. i had no idea. we were just separated. but i have no idea what took his life. >> jason: hernandez will appear in court tomorrow morning. the woman who was hit is okay. >> heather: a 17-year-old is accused of driving a truck with the owner of the truck hanging outside of the driver's door.

avenue in worcester yesterday for an assault and battery report. and when they got close to the scene, they saw the truck and the owner hanging on. his arm wedged in the window and the driver speeding down hopper street swerving side to side, nearly running that man into parked cars. eventually the owner of the truck fell off. and the driver got out and ran off, leaving the truck in gear. but officers were able to track that 17-year-old down and fight. he's now facing a dozen charges. >> jason: happening today, president-elect donald trump will continue meeting with candidates to fill the open spots in his cabinet and other white house positions. former new york city mayor rudy giuliani and new jersey governor chris christie at his private golf course in bed minister new jersey. christy is being considered for a position? homeland security, rudy giuliani for secretary of state. yesterday, trump met with

worcester county before the morning is through. this is what i'm watching, hour by hour, minute by minute. in the meantime, we've had this big band of rain come through in the early morning hours. i'm tracking it over a good part of the area as we began at 6:00 this morning. now that band of rain is over portsmouth leaving hampton. still a little bit of rain sea coast to deal with. here over provincetown, all the way to the islands, that band of rain has moved away. and we're seeing a damped morning in parts of central right around fitchburg, worcester, over to southbridge. these light showers plaguing the skies. so it's just going to be a dreary day and watching the flakes out to the west. giving signs of that mixing in around amherst and, again, some of this could make its way eastward before the morning is through with a few flakes in the worcester hills look at this vermont all the way to upstate new york, western mass. just covered in the snow right now. so far we've had a third of an inch of rain in worcester take

again, this time pretty much stuck inside of this home. these are some photos that the homeowner's son sent me earlier this morning. as you can see, the damage to that home on hudson street, that black suv sticking out of the front door. again, thankfully nobody was hurt. but the homeowner told me the damage was so bad they now have to find a new place to stay. what's so heartbreaking in all of this. is that they have to possibly split up the family while they wait for their home to be first person who woke up after hearing that sound and ran downstairs. and his mom told us after the crash her son actually overheard the two suspects arguing before they ran off. >> one of them said that they should stay, you know, it was an accident they should stay and deal with it. and the other one said, no, we've got to go, we've got to go. and they ran. >> reporter: susan told me that right behind her house is a river and some swampy area.

however, again, police at this point still searching for those suspects. we're continuing to reach out and as soon as we get an update we'll let you know. but coming up in 30 minutes what inspectors say actually prevented that suv from going even further into the home. in northborough, stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> heather: stephanie, thank you. a springfield man facing multiple charges this morning. including killing a pet dog. police say that dog, a jack russell terrier another man came up and arguing with the owner friday afternoon. now at some point the man identified as edwin harrison is accused of pulling out his gun and shooting that dog. police say harrison walked away as if nothing had happened. he is a convicted felon. he's also accused of trying to hide that gun when running from officers. when they arrested harrison, they found dozens of bags of heroin and crack cocaine package for sale on him.

due in court tomorrow. an investigation on the way into the death of a kayaker on the south shore. the man's body discovered at the beach off of channel street in hull yesterday morning. he's been identified as 57-year-old douglas king from weymouth. but it did take hours for police to learn king's name because he didn't have any identification on him at the time. officials tell fox 25 that is becoming a common problem when it comes to water deaths. now the town of hull is hoping to have new rules in in time for next summer. and they're trying to get rental companies to abide by these rules. >> questions have to be asked, can you swim, do you know where you are, do you know the wind conditions this afternoon before they're put in a situation where they're off shore and they're drowned or have to be rescued. >> heather: at this point, it's not clear how king died. but he was wearing a life jacket when he was found. >> jason: fox 25 continues to follow the aftermath of the legalization of recreational

the weekend coming up. >> mark: take a look at the beautiful baby girl. she is a fighter. she's only three months old. her name is savanna and already been through more than any child should have to go through. she'll be undergoing open heart surgery in january. savanna has a heart defect and her parents didn't know what to do when they found out. as fox 25 blair miller learned they didn't have to look very far to find the help they needed. >> we got a meal for you. >> reporter: there's morth just the lunchtime crowd here at olive garden in south attleboro. there's a mission to help their coworker thomas east wood and kaleigh sergeant and their little girl. >> i was ready to taker. >> reporter: 3-month-old savanna diagnosed with a heart defect before she was even born. >> i was a little scared. i was definitely upset. i was confused and worried about what her out come would be like. >> reporter: tom and kaleigh met here at olive garden. and when their coworkers heard

which resulted in the days in the icu, weekly doctor visits and two surgerying still ahead. they knew they had to do something. >> especially when you have children and fortunate to have children who grew up healthy and didn't have these struggles. and just to know i feel as a gentleman, i feel obligated to do something. >> reporter: and that something resulted in nearly $6,000 in donations so far, from coworkers, the company and the customers. and the effort is growing. today whil couple dropped off when they could. not interested in lunch, just in helping this little girl. >> for people to come forward and try to do everything they can to help, it was definitely -- surprising. >> reporter: yet it's not clear what lies ahead for savanna. she's slated for open heart surgery in january. and mom knows every bit of support helps. >> i think it would be 100% different if we didn't have that. we wouldn't have the support, we

a few breaks in the clouds possible today. the big story, the wind, the spotty showers, a spotty snow showers in worcester county certainly possible. the back edge of the steadier rain that came through early this morning, if you were waking up with us, i was tracking all of that, now moving, 40, 50 miles an hour. there it goes off of the sea coast and leaving the cape alone. the north, south shore, drying up. i do back here in worcester county right there from framingham, and wayland moving toward acton right up 495, around leominster, a stripe of light rain coming through. and then we go western parts of worcester county, where yes we are getting our first signs of some snowflakes trying to mix in here around brookfield and charlton, along the pike, toward springfield, a better chance to run into some of those flakes. the road temperatures are warm

warm enough to melt, in the berkshires in the mountains of vermont where we're getting plenty of snow this morning. great news for skiers upstate new york. winter storm warning in affect for the mountains. let's track this here with future cast. this is 3:00 today, you'll see where that better chance for some snowflakes will be. higher terrains of worcester county mixing, meanwhile eastern mass. too warm for any flakes. but tonight continues to spin around. warm pressure swirling around to our north. periods of rain and possibly mixing or changing over to snow. that's the case on the morning drive tomorrow. again, most of us will be dry. but with this kind of wind coming around low pressure, we may see a few spotty snow showers try to make their way in the morning commute tomorrow. we do brighten up later this week. but it's going to be a blustery start to the week but lots of clouds around.

yeah, not going to be a big deal. we could get a coating to an inch in the northwestern hills. that's about the only place where anything -- about an inch or better would be even possible. over the east coast, just a few flakes in the sky. maybe a coating on the grass if we could get cold enough overnight. cloudy in boston. wind chills 42. wind chills not a big story yet. but it will be in the morning. in fact, we'll be waking up to wind chills in the teens. look at the wind gusts right hour along to the south coast. those spreading northward. we'll see gusts at 50 miles an hour today and into tomorrow as well. so a good shot of wind around here. we're monitoring trees and power lines. there are the numbers today. we're just stuck where we are. not going to be able to warm up much. waking up tomorrow, lower 40s and upper 30s. and feels like the mid and upper

southern new hampshire, this is future cast at 4:00. where you see that better chance for the coldest air is north and west. now the winds will be strong and they'll be cold. we could start to drag a couple of snow showers all the way to the east coast of massachusetts into the night tonight. more on the rest of the weekend and the wind coming up. >> this morning, osha is investigating a terrible accident in duxbury. a man killed by the saw he was using when it kicked back and hit him in the neck. reporting this morning the coworkers trying to stop the bleeding and save his life. >> we did everything we could. >> reporter: workers shocked and upset as own sha investigates the tragic construction site in duxbury on saturday afternoon. >> he was unconscious. he was still breathing. there was a lot of blood. >> reporter: the cut off saw involved in the accident lay at the bottom of the trench that another worker, sam romanelli, had been in. helping the victim lay a water

>> he was cutting an iron pipe down in the hole there. and the saw kicked back at him. and cut him in the throat. we tried to apply pressure. we tried to keep him up right. >> reporter: first responders carried the victim who had been working for a private local company, out of the trench and into an ambulance. >> the coworkers did great work with what they had, obviously. obviously work in doing the best they could to control bleeding and maintain airway and transport to the hospital. >> reporter: despite their efforts by early saturday night police had confirmed he had died. romanelli said he was an experienced worker and a father. >> two kids. kids were here. >> reporter: as the investigation continues, construction crews pray for his family. >> one moment everything is fine. the next, you know, it's not.

>> reporter: christine mccarthy, fox 25 news. >> jason: thankfully the victim's children were at the construction site but were not close to their father. we did reach out to the construction working on the project. the company was or wig. >> heather: just 8:04 now. the officers saw joseph demaio common while on patrol friday night. while talking to him, they found out he had a warrant for his arrest out of connecticut. so police say he violently fought back when officers tried to take him into custody. demaio will head to boston court with assaults on a police officer before before he answers to charges in connecticut. those injured officers were treated and released from the hospital. >> jason: this morning, the driver accused in this hit and run crash in chelsea has been arrested. we showed you this surveillance

running into a 72-year-old woman and leaving the scene. now to helpful tips this weekend, police were able to identify 25-year-old arnold hernandez as the driver which happened on fourth and broadway yesterday morning. they picked him up yesterday in revere. now he's facing several charges none of which his wife knew about when we talked about yesterday. >> he's a very good person. i had no idea. we're just separated. but i had no idea what took life. >> jason: hernandez will appear tomorrow morning in court. the woman who was hit will be okay. >> heather: a 17-year-old accused of driving a truck with the owner of the truck hanging outside of the driver's door. stay with me on this one. police officers are responding to an apartment on eastern avenue in worcester yesterday for an assault and battery report. when they got close, that's when they noticed that truck and that man hanging on. his arm wedged in the window and driver speeding down hopper street, swerving side to side, nearly running that man into

eventually that man fell off. the driver got out at that point. he ran off, leaving the truck in gear, but obviously, officers were able to track that 17-year-old down. they took him into custody after a pretty violent fight. that 17-year-old facing a dozen charges this morning. >> jason: also developing this morning, police right now searching for two people who they say stole a car and crashed into a house. >> heather: fox 25 stephanie coueignoux is live for us in northborough. stephanie, they were chasing that car before it crashed? an update from mass. state police within the last 15 minutes. they've now suspended are -- their search for the suspects. but they're looking into history of the two individuals. they did suspend that chase after the suv got off of the highway. a short time later, they encountered this situation. i do want to show you some photos from the homeowner's son. you can see in these photos that black suv partially wedged

street. now, earlier this morning, i spoke to the homeowner who told me the impact of this crash was so big that the front door was actually barricaded shut. again, thankfully no one was hurt. but you can imagine, this was an incredibly scary situation. because every was sleeping at the time. they woke up just before 1:00 this morning to that incredible sound and they found that suv stuck in their front door. >> it was amazing. they sd way we have this little deck here, that if that was not here, the car would've went in through the house. >> reporter: now police say the two people who were inside of the suv ran away. they used a search this morning using canine dogs. however, they weren't able to locate those suspects. now they've suspended that search. they're still continuing to investigate the history of those

"fox 25 investigates" after he was arrested for a 12-year-old girl with autism in a neighboring town, department of public utilities which licenses all bus drivers in the state never suspended his bus license. that 12-year-old girl didn't ride his bus and chaseson pleaded not guilty. but it was enough to get the attention of governor baker after the fox 25 report. >> frankly the report raised an important element in the >> reporter: baker concerned the state could only track convictions and had no way to monitor an arrest of bus drivers in real-time. after "fox 25 investigates" followed up last week, the state sent out this bulletin asking them to report all arrests of school bus drivers to the rmv their license could be suspended while charges are pending. >> we're talking about protecting children. there should be no delay.

>> there's no boss on the boss to make sure the driver isn't molesting the children. the least we can do to give an adult that kind of access to kids, is take immediate action when they get caught. >> reporter: the governor's office tells us the rmv is working on an automatic notification system to term permanently fix this loop hole. that may not be available until next year. for "fox 25 investigates" i'm eric rasmussen >> all right. getting a brand new update on the radar. the brand new rain moved out. now that it's out of southern new hampshire, moving northward, but behind low pressure, cold air is now starting to take over. and we have temperatures in the mid 30s in western worcester county where a few flakes are ming.

snowflakes weather watch report from west warren mass. where the flakes are coming down. peters ham over to barre. send them over, the flakes should be in the air, verifying that rain changing over to snowflakes. there's spencer, anywhere west of the town of worcester. we've been watching out for the potential this morning. and around southbridge as well. certainly could see a few flake the s thes sky. vermont, western mass under winter storm warnings. highest amounts in the mountains possible. future cast low pressure swirling just to our north into the day today. so around the backside of that. it's windy. and it's going to get older. and left over snow showers favoring the highest hills appeared the mountains. the cold air coming in from the

higher hills out to the west and northern worcester county. it's really going to be tonight when the cold air gets deep enough everywhere where a few flakes could get all the way over to the east coast. there's plenty of dry times as well. so we're not dealing with rain all day by any stretch. just blustery and gray. watching out for a couple of snow showers tonight and into tomorrow morning by monday afternoon. we're drying out. and should start to turn the corner and brighten things up, especially on tu 48 degrees. wind chill 42 right now. i'm pointing that out, waking up tomorrow morning with shiri. she'll show you wind chills in the 20s we're starting on monday with a big dip. temperatures just fell in worcester. that cold air is wrapping in and as forecasted that's where we see a change over to a couple of flakes. still 50 in fitchburg. so you see that front coming right through western and

winds out of the south and southwest, gusting to 25 to 35 miles an hour. and a wind advisory is posted. we've already had one wind gust to 50 reported at woods hole. that -- that continued concern today and tomorrow. winds gusting near 50 miles an hour. could see tree and power lines damagedful we'll be monitor that. meantime, high in boston, 54 degrees. temperatures steady or falling throughout the rest of the afternoon. overnight, upp and those wind gusts will be a concern with the wind chill in the teens as you wake up in the morning. we'll show you those in your neighborhood in the next half hour, you do see the seven-day forecast is going to be brightening up. slowly but surely on tuesday. wednesday looks pretty good too. thursday, our next weather maker, we'll have more info on that tomorrow as that storm comes ashore. >> heather: all right, jason. get ready. a local navy vet who fought

jason, you've been watching this closely. and you've had some viewers report that they're seeing snow on the ground. >> jason brewer: yeah, changes over in western worcester county. and i'm watching this low pressure system come through and wrap that cold air behind it now. yeah, the change over to snowflakes in worcester county as planned. athol, barre, west of worcester proper, lester, spencer over toward north brookfield, likely not sticking on the road. road temperatures are too warm for that to be a problem. watch out, through noontime, you'll have a couple of left over snow showers. most of us will stay dry for the rest of the day. but as air gets colder and we have those winds coming in out of the west we may see a few snow showers all the way over to the east coast of massachusetts later tonight and on into early monday. wind already a big problem.

miles an hour. more on that coming up. >> heather: developing this morning, in the last hour, police suspended a search for a pair of suspects involved in a police chase in north attleboro. they abandoned their car and got away on foot after their car drove into a home. >> jason: it happened just after 1:00 on hudson street, no one inside of the house was hurt. that's the good news. stephanie coueignoux is live at the police station this morning. stephanie, police called off their chase shortly before that pursuing this allegedly stolen suv after it was speeding down 290. but they stopped that chase after it got off of the highway. however, a trooper found it again, partially stuck inside a home. and i want to show you some video of just after that happened. these were given to me by the homeowner's son. this is a house on hudson street. in these photos you can see the black suv sticking out of the front door. thankfully nobody was hurt but

was so bad they now have to find a new place to stay. what's so heartbreaking is they might have to actually split up the family while they wait for their home to be fixed just days before thanksgiving. the homeowner's son was the first person up and ran down the stairs. he overheard the two suspects arguing before they ran off. >> one of them said that they should stay, it was an accident they should stay and deal got to go, we've got to go, and they ran. >> reporter: susan told me that right behind their house is a river, a very swampy area. she says that she believes it would be difficult for those suspects to get very far if that's the way they ran off. now, mass. state police have suspended are this search. they are continuing their follow up investigation. i also asked them where this apparent suv was stolen from.

what actually prevented that suv from crashing right through that home. in northborough, stephanie coueignoux fox 25 news. >> jason: a peabody man out on bail this weekend accused of yelling racial slurs and trying to pick a fight at a traffic light. 28-year-old ryan mccarthy was a passenger in a car that was beeped at. mccarthy is accused of getting out of the car and shouting at the other driver. during his arraignment, mccarthy pleaded not guilty to civil ri the victim. the driver, an african american man, told police he is afraid mccarthy will find out where he lives. mccarthy due in court in january. >> heather: an investigation into the death of a kayaker. that man's body found at a beach off of channel street in hull yesterday morning. that kayaker now identified as 55-year-old douglas king from weymouth. originally it took hours for police to figure out his name because he didn't have any identification on him. officials tell fox 25 that is

highway. a little while later they found it crashed into a home on hudson street. we'll show you photos that the homeowner took after it happened. in the photos you can see the suv right there in the middle of the home. now, i spoke with the homeowner who told me the impact of this crash was so big the front door was actually barricaded shut. thankfully no one was hurt but as you can imagine everyone was sleeping when this happened. so there was an on. they rushed downstairs and they found that suv stuck right through their front door. >> it was amazing. they said that because of the way we have this little deck here, that if that was not here, the car would've went in through the house. >> reporter: unbelievable. now the home, we're being told is structurally unsafe. unfortunately, just days before thanksgiving, this family is now going to have to find a new place to stay. police did search for the

off of that search. they're now analyzing that suv for evidence. and coming up in 30 minutes, what the homeowner's son says that he overheard the two suspects arguing about, right before they ran away. in northborough, i'm stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> jason: this morning, osha continues to investigate a terrible accident in duxbury a man killed by the saw he was using when it kicked back and hit him in the neck. fox 25 christine mccarthy reports this morning, the man's coworkers despera stop the bleeding and save that man's life. >> we did everything that we could. >> reporter: workers shocked and upset as osha investigates the tragic construction accident in duxbury saturday afternoon. >> he was unconscious. he was still breathing. there was a lot of blood. >> reporter: the cut off saw involved in the accident lay at the bottom of the trench that another worker, sam romanelli, had been in, helping the victim lay a new water line for a new

pipe in the hole there. and the saw kicked back at him. and cut him. and in the throat. we tried to apply pressure. we tried to keep him up right. >> reporter: first responders carried the victim who had been working for a private local company out of the trench and into an ambulance. >> the coworkers did great work with what they had, obviously. paramedics did great work. and doing the best they could to control bleeding and and transport to the hospital. >> reporter: but despite their efforts by early saturday night, police had confirmed he had died. romanelli said he was an experienced worker and a father. >> two kids. kids were here. >> reporter: as the investigation continues, construction crews pray for his family. >> one moment everything is fine. the next, you know, it's not. so people should value life.

>> jason: we can tell you thankfully the victim's children while at the construction site were not close to their father when the accident happened. so far his name has not been released this weekend. we tried to reach out to the local company working on that project. the fire department tells us it is or wig. right now it's not clear if he works for that company or another company that may have been subcontracted. >> heather: so tragic. two boston police officers were hurt while trying to arrest a man on the boston common this weekend. the off was smoking which is illegal on the common and they saw him on patrol friday night while talking to him, they discovered a warrant out for his arrest out of connecticut. police say he violently fought back when they tried to get him into custody. they did eventually get him into custody. now demaio will head to a boston court for charges on assault on a police officer before he can answer to charges in connecticut. the officers were treated and

accused in the hit and run we told you about yesterday morning on the fox 25 morning news a hit and run crash in chelsea that driver has now been arrested. we showed you the surveillance video showing the man running into a 72-year-old woman and then driving off. well, now, thanks to helpful tips, police have identified 25-year-old arnold hernandez as the driver of the hit and run on broadway and fourth street friday morning. they picked him up yesterday in revere and facing several tomorrow. the good news is the woman who was hit is okay. >> jason: happening today, president-elect donald trump will continue meeting with candidates to fill all of the open spots in his cabinet and other white house positions. former new york city mayor rudy giuliani and new jersey governor chris christie at the private golf club in new jersey. reports christy being considered for a position with homeland security and giuliani as secretary of state.

former massachusetts governor mitt romney. they greeted him at the front door yesterday showing no hostility and friction that we saw during the campaign. they spoke for more than an hour and on the way out they shook hands. a sharp turn around from the campaign where they called each other names add disparaging remarks. still no word this morning on whether or not he was offered a position. that anticipated meeting was the first of many for donald trump. democrat michelle rhee met with trump and pence yester d.c. schools and a candidate for the education secretary. later in the day he met with retired general james mattis. he served four decades in the marine corps and also head of central command overseeing all operations in iraq and afghanistan. if nominated and approved mattis would be the highest defense secretary in more than a half century. in the meantime, president-elected continues to demand an apology from the broadway's hamilton.

out on bail accused of racial slurs trying to pick a fight at a traffic light. happened thursday morning on route 62. ryan mccarthy was a passenger in a car that was honked at. mccarthy is accused of getting out of the car and shouting at another driver. during his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to civil rights violations. he was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim. the driver, an african american man, told police that he's afraid mccarthy is going to find out where he lives. mccarthy due back in january. >> heather: it's 9:21 now. the 17-year-old accuse of driving with a truck with the owner of the truck hanging outside of the truck door is in custody this morning. police responded to an apartment on eastern avenue in worcester yesterday for a report of a an assault and battery. when they got close, they spotted that truck and the owner hanging on. the man's arm wedged in the window and driver speeding down hopper street swerving side to

moving out. we're talking about the cold temperatures and the wind. >> heather: that was a live shot of boston where the rain and cold weather is the story. look at the radar right there. you can see where the snow is. athol, hardwick area. we're talking about to snow reports on the ground. the snow has come. >> jason: changing over from rain to snow. flakes mixing in. that cold air continues to march eastwa b moving to the north. anywhere from keene, richmond, athol, some of these areas could see a few flakes. but no accumulation. just watching for a few coatings on the car and grassy surfaces. most areas eastward will remain dry. but blustery and cold as temperatures into the 30s in many locations after sunset tonight. so we have wind concerns. we have some showers.

still get through. and i'll show you when we brighten up in just a little bit. >> heather: all right. jason, thanks so much. developing this morning, police have now suspended a search just in the past couple of hours for a pair of suspects professionaled in a police chase in northborough. it's still an active chase. they're still investigating why they abandoned a car and drove into a home. >> jason: it happened before 1:00 this morning on hudson street. no one inside of the house was hurt. that's the fox 25 stephanie coueignoux is live at the police station this morning. police have called off their active search for these suspects, stephanie? >> reporter: yeah, they told me that now have that suv in their custody and analyzing it for any evidence. they called off that chase after the suv got off 290 and ended up right through that home. i want to get to pictures that homeowner's son gave to me

-- photos. the damage was so bad that they do have to find a new place to stay. what's so heartbreaking is thanksgiving is just a few days away. and they might actually have to split their family up while they wait for their home to be fixed. the homeowner's son was the first person to wake up and ran down the stairs after that crash. his mom told us after this whole crash happened, her they ran off. >> one of them said, it was an accident, they should stay and deal with it. the other one said, no, we've got to go we've got to go and they ran. >> reporter: susan told me right behind their house is a river and swampy area. she told me it's not that easy to run through. however, police don't know exactly what direction those suspects ran. again, they searched for several hours. it was raining, it was dark. so it was difficult to see.
