>> christa: i have to say, sarah, when you sent us that tweet from the beach, we were all jealous. >> sarah: wasn't it beautiful? i was sad the leave, danielle. i'm in vacation depression mode right >> danielle: i'm feeling a lot jealous. we're not bringing the best weather to welcome you back. we're sorry, sarah, but we're so excited you're here. temperatures outside close to 70 in boston. mid-60s across the coast. 60 the current temperature in worcester. another doom and gloom day. rainfall totals since yesterday, beverly tops the list, about eight-tenths of an inch of rain, but look at boston. not even a quarter of an inch. the rain has been hit or miss. the trend we saw yesterday will continue into today, as well.
5:15 am
here's this wave of moisture we've been keeping an eye on. this is pushing off shore. as we head into the morning commute, the roads going to be a little bit slick, but as far as heavy rain, i don't think you'll see that. showers will be hit or miss in nature, and just the outer cape seeing some of that rain right now. so i want to take you through the time line. you can see hit or miss showers the name of the game throughout the day today. some of you see them, some of you don't. this trend will continue into tonight and even into tomorrow morning. wee clear out until we head into tomorrow afternoon and the high pressure starts to build in, and things start to look a little sunnier, a little warmer, too. so for today, isolated showers along the north shore, south shore for boston. more scattered in nature this morning. and then this afternoon out toward western mass and central mass. so that's what you can expect as far as rain for today. we do need any rain we can get, a severe drought still extends from central mass up the north shore and into southern new
5:16 am
so we certainly do need this rain. as far as rain totals that we'll get over the next day into the next 24 hours. i don't think they'll be too great. i think for the most part you'll see up to a half an inch if you're lucky. that's a wrap for july. as far as rainfall totals, july was officially the eighth driest on record. we did pick up an inch of rain. so that's over two and a half inches behind where we should be for this time of year. it will feel muggy throughout the day today. if i point time line, you won't see too much relief in the dew point department until wednesday when high pressure starts to build with us. and things start the feel more comfortable out there. winds are out of the east, out of the northeast around 15, 20mph. so it's not going to be too windy. mostly pleasant. temperatures in the low to mid-70s. watching those scattered showers. mostly cloudy. kind of a gloomy monday for you. for tonight, we'll watch for spotty showers and patchy fog to develop, as well. temperatures staying really on
5:17 am
and into the upper 60s. for tomorrow, decreasing showers, not ruling out the chance for a shower in the morning. and then hopefully later on in the day, sunshine will start the peek through, but temperatures will stay below average into the upper 70s, as well. so 7 on 7 forecast, the 80s are back with us by wednesday. no humidity wednesday, too. wednesday and thursday looking like really nice days. and then friday through into the weekend. temperatures back into the 90s. we'll watch for a scattered storm friday night into saturday. >> christa: now to a story caught on camera. a day at boston's franklin park zoo taking a wild turn when a gorilla gets a little feisty. this morning the man who took that video is talking about this. >> sarah: he says he's very grateful for the glass that protected him. pretty scary here. jennifer eagan joins us now with more on that. >> jennifer: the man and his fianc?e were watching the gorilla for several minutes when suddenly it jumped at them. an unexpected encounter captured on camera.
