eastern mass, there is potential for one or two locally severe storms later on today. 63 the dew point in boston. refreshing change yesterday, right? the corner of the country with the low humidity across new england. say good-bye. the highest humidity resides south, that's going to be working on in via a warm front. right now there's not much in the way of rainfall out there. a couple showers across western worcester county become out across western mass and this continues. but nothing severe. what we're watching for later today. this north may get some scattered storms to develop along it later this morning and early this afternoon. i think a lot of us, it would be more toward the afternoon versus early this morning, but a couple showers with that front. the issue with some of these warm fronts working on in is sometimes they produce thunderstorms that can contain gusty winds and rotation with it. so we'll have more cloud cover around today. that's going to knock the u.v. index down to the high side. you can see these scattered storms in and out of new york,
5:16 am
a lot of 80s out to the west of us some what i expect today as that warm front lifts to the north, for more of these scattered showers and storm, this forecast tomorrow, a little underdone here in terms of the coverage area from rhode island back into connecticut. but you can see hints of it along thread dash line. has the lifts to the north, a few more scattered showers and storms form. as i mentioned before, sometimes we have some of these individual cells rotating a bit because the wind is going from the ground to atmosphere several thousand feet changing direction. so you have that switching direction. you will have to watch an isolated list of a tornado somewhere across southern new england, central new england later on today. i think the overall main threat with these storms would be locally heavy rain and a lot of cloud-to-ground lightning and a slightly higher risk of any of that rotation more toward western new england versus eastern new england some there is a low risk for it. there i wanted to mention that. it's not zero, but we do have
5:17 am
some damaging straight-line wind gusts with some of the stronger storms. we'll track these scattered storms through the day. many dry hours in here, as well. muggy day. temperatures running into the mid-80s and a few upper 80s out there. and tonight evening storm around. otherwise mild and muggy overnight. low 70s. that's it for the overnight lows. and then tomorrow big on the breezy side. the humidity back down. we'll enjoy that lower humidity on thursday and even into friday. cooler at the coast-of-the weekend. mid-80s inland. ism wild weather is ravaging parts of louisiana. the coast guard performing dozens of rooftop rescues. thousands still trapped by the rising waters in this deadly flooding. emergency responders risking it all to save lives. >> christa: and this morning they're saying the threat isn't over for these people. kris anderson is here with more. >> kris: it's continuing for them. it is not over yet, christa. people in louisiana can expect even more rain today. they're already dealing with
