been caught in a conveyor belt. >> christa: breaking overnight, police in fall river say they've arrested a 16-year-old wanted in connection with a murder that happened back in july. his name is jayden smith, an he was apparently arrested just before midnight but had been on the run for three months. smith is expected to be arraigned in court a bit later on this morning. >> sarah: also breaking overnight, after 20 days of picketing, reports of an agreement between harvard and striking dining workers. according to the "harvard says the agreement are now be sent the a subcommittee and all workers will be able to vote on the deal on wednesday. the workers went on strike earlier this month seeking higher wages and hoping to prevent any changes to their health benefits. >> christa: right now a community is in mourning after a crash that killed five young people. >> sarah: police said the collision in middle br was caused by a wrong-way driver on 495. three of the young victims were related. 7's general cuoco live with more

photo posted by a student. when this photo of a hand holding a gun with the caption "life at durphy" spread around fall river high school, police put the school into lockdown. >> terrifying. i got here in three minutes from my house. >> jennifer: police say a location stamp was on the photo, indicating it was taken on or close to school grounds, but the student who created the image wasn't at the school. they tracked him down in another part of fall river and say they found him with a bb gun. parents were upset when they went to pick up students after the lockdown. >> they need to get more security guards here that know what they're doing or a metal detector or something. this is crazy. our kids go to school for knowledge and an education and they're scared to come to school. >> jennifer: administrators plan to increase security at the high school. metal detectors and wands will be used as students enter. and that 15-year-old student faces a number of charges, including possessing a weapon on

morning, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah:>> christa: new detailt a deadly crash at a pizza restaurant in move. the husband of one of the victims was suing the driver. eleanor miele was one of two people killed when that car slammed into sweet tomatoes restaurant back in march. her husband is now filing a wrongful death lawsuit. this comes a few weeks after the driver was criminally charged. the lawsuit was filed by an attorney representing miele's husband claiming the driver was negligent. driver, bradford casler, was speeding and ran a red light. the d.a. says he also never hit the brakes, even after his s.u.v. hit two other cars before hopping the curb and slamming into pa packed restaurant. now casler was formally charged last month, about six months after the crash. he's facing two counts of motor vehicle homicide and one count of operating a vehicle to endanger. >> sarah: still ahead this morning, no ez pass yet?

keep it there at the ski resorts. not here. >> christa: two months to go until first official day of winter. so, kris, hopefully we don't have any snow in our forecast. >> kris: plenty of snow ahead of us. keep it up in ski country right now. 43 in boston. the west wind at 14mph in ski country getting more snow on thursday. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if off through worcester county, some of the higher terrain got a new wet pellets mixed in. for most part we're dealing with chilly rain here. 43 in townsend. 36 in worcester. 39 in norwood. 39 in plymouth. the breeze is active once again today. we've had that with us the last couple days. it wasn't as strong as what we saw over the weekend. it was still gusts over 20 to 30mph through this afternoon. we this start off with quite a bit of sunshine this morning once the sun does come up. more clouds mid-morning through mid-day as we get some scattered clouds coming through with

sun for a couple hours around mid-day. temperatures cool. this map, this is where the air will be pressing in from over the next several days. you don't see much warm air to the north an west of us, so don't expect much of a warm-up in the seven-day forecast. in fact, temperatures consistently near seasonal levels if not quite a bit below seasonal levels bia good five, six, eight, ten degrees on sunny days. 40 to 50s back into the midwest. this system would be the next player here across the east ohio valley. and as it makes its move into new england. so we're between two systems right now, one to the east, one to the west of us through at least the next 48 hours. once we get into thursday morning, we'll watch the clouds fill on in. by mid-day thursday, likely seeing some showers working in to southern new england. note where it's colder here on thursday mid-day. northwestern connecticut, up through the berkshires into connecticut, this starts off as some snow and some sleet.

to see more mixed in the higher terrain of worcester county. not expecting accumulation there. eventually cold rain does win on out. it will be chilly rain at that for temperatures holding into the 40s thursday afternoon and thursday night. half an inch to an inch of water. yes, that's a possibility here as you get that system to work on in thursday into thursday night. here's where the know is expected in the forecast models. you start getting little thin bands and darker shades of blue, that's just indicating the higher terrain, the most snow. these suburbs will be likely across western new england up into vermont across the higher terrain. i think vermont and upstate new york probably the winners on this snow event, if you want to call them "winners." 44 to 50 outside this afternoon. cool an breezy. sunshine an building clouds. we expect more clouds to be in the mix around mid-day. 28 to 37 overnight tonight. there is a freeze warning to the north an west of boston. some towns that haven't hit the freezing mark yet will likely this so overnight tonight.

discovery, christa. the mother took action when she realized that her daughter's prize could have been actually very dangerous. this gumball machine with toys inside caught the eye of seven-year-old allyson jones when she was out the dinner at rochester house of pizza with her family friday night. but when she put quarters in the machine, what she got wasn't something the play with at all. >> when i saw it come down and i saw it wasn't a toy, i thought it was candy. >> kris: they called police, who confirmed what the plastic container were, in fact, pills. >> the pills were not narcotics. they were not controlled drugs. they appeared to be blood pressure medication due to the size, color and the imbriton pill. >> kris: the restaurant has since removed the gumball machine. police are working with them and the vendor, reviewing video and retracing steps to figure out how the pills got there. >> i always thought this would never happen to me, but it does happen, so just double check your kids' candy and make sure

be latin is lighteddenning up on its dress cold. according to the haicialgd girls will be allowed to wear leggings as long as they're in the sheer or see-through. this follows a drive over the weekend that claims the dress cold was excessively focused on girls' sexuality and potentially racist by banning gang-related clothing. a lawsuit has been filed against the red sox six months after a criminal suit by a coworker. both men who with r black allege they were inspection because of their race. according to the "globe," the two men along with a third man, who is white, were at a world series game back in 2013 to perform a routine inspection. the lawsuit claims their colleague was allowed inside but the two black men were asked to provide additional identification. in a statement, the red sox deny the claim, calling it frivolous. >> christa: right now police in revere are looking for a suspect in a bank robbery. take a look. this is a picture of the suspect

skeleton mask and showed a gun at the citizens bank monday. investigators say he dropped some of the money while getting away when a dye pack went off. >> sarah: boston police say this man is a person of interest in the robbery of an elderly woman in dorchester. police say it happened on howlett street. the 75-year-old victim was walking to her car when this man approached her from behind, stole her purse and then tk rhode island mobster expected to plead guilty in connection with a murder in south boston that happened nearly 2025 years ago. robert deluca will plead guilty to obstruction of justice for lying to investigators about the murder of a south boston nightclub manager. that was back in 1993. the victim's remains were found in providence earlier this year. ism we're just two weeks away from the 2016 election. early voting is already under way in boston. more than 4,000 ballots were

overall this week it's a chillier week by far compared to what we had last week when the air was coming in from the south. don't expect temperatures to move all that much the next few day, struggling to climb out of the upper 40s even in the afternoon. it's dry today, it's dry on wednesday. thursday is a different story. we start off the morning dry. we do expect a dry morning commute. but by this afternoon, rain starts to work into new england. in fact, there's enough cold air left in place and wet snow across nor the higher terrain of western mass and up into vermont. there could be some flakes in the higher counties. but in southern new england this will be predominantly a rain maker. should pick up a half inch 20 an inch of water with accumulating snow picking up in the higher terrain of vermont back into upstate new york. 44 to 50 throughout the afternoon today. so we're in the talking about

newton pizza restaurant is suing the driver. eleanor miele was killed when a car slammed into the sweet tomatoes restaurant in march. her husband has filed a wrongful-death suit, a few weeks after the driver was criminally charged. according to the d.a., the driver, bradford casler, was speeding and ran a red light. the d.a.m. says casler never hit the brakes, even after his s.u.v. hit two other cars before restaurant. cass lar was formally charged just last month, six months after the crash. he's facing two counts of motor vehicle homicide and one count of operating a vehicle to endanger. state police are investigating the rollover in revere. police say a 17-year-old lost control and crashed on route 145. that driver and two passengers were taken to the hospital. one of the passengers was seriously injured. two other people in the car were not hurt.

have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with a murder that happene back in july. jayden smith was arrested just before midnight. he's expected to be arraigned in court a bit later on this morning. also breaking, reports of a tentative agreement between harvard and its striking dining workers. according to the "harvard crimson," the head of the union says the agreement will be sent the a subcommittee and all workers will be able to vote on the deal wednesday. the workers went on strike earlier this month seeking higher wages health benefits. also there will be increased security at durfee high school in fall river today. police say that they put the school into lockdown monday when a picture of someone holding a gun appeared on snapchat. the picture included the caption, "life at durfee." officers later took a 15-year-old student into custody. >> sarah: a driver deadline fast approaching. starting friday night, all tolls in massachusetts will go electric.

>> sarah: breaking overnight, 20 days of picketing, the source of a tentative agreement between harvard and its striking dining workers. according to the harvard crimson, workers will be able to voted on the deal on wednesday. this morning we're learning more about the four young men killed in a fiery crash on 495 in middleborough. >> christa: we're learning some of them had just graduated high school a year ago. head to middleborough right now and 7's john cuoco is following this story. john? >> john: christa, an emotion those killed early yesterday morning. a vigil was held on the cape monday night for the lives lost in that horrific crash on 495 in middleborough. state police say a wrong-way driver slammed head on into another car driving south in the northbound high-speed lane, killing four young adults and herself. state police trying to figure out why that wrong-way driver ended up where she did. the other driver, they say, never had a chance. and state police will likely be releasing the names of all of those involved at some point today.

cuoco, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: separate security happening today at a fall river high school. that's after a picture of a student poazing with a gun appeared on social media. a 15-year-old has now been arrested. 7's jennifer eagan live at durfee high school with more. jen? >> jennifer: sarah, all students will have to enter through the main door. they will be screened by metal detectors there. this is the photo again that police say that student posted to snapchat. it shows weapon. the caption is "life at durfee." police say the high schooler was tagged in the me toe, indicating that the student was at or near the school. as that picture spread on social media yesterday, school administrators saw it and put the school into lockdown mode. police tracked down the 15-year-old student they say posted the photo in another part of fall river. they say he was not at the high school when he was arrested. they also say he had a bb gun with him that. student is now facing multiple

weapon on school grounds. live in fall river this morning, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." >> christa: jen, thank you. 6:49. the husband of one of the victims of a deadly crash at a newton pizza shop is now suing the driver. eleanor miele was one of two people killed when that car slammed into sweet tomatoes back in march. her husband now filing a wrongful death lawsuit claiming the driver was negligent. according to the d.a., the driver, bradford casler, was speeding and ran a red light. he says he never hit the even after his s.u.v. hit two other vehicles. right now he's facing two counts of motor vehicle homicide and one count of operating a vehicle to endanger. >> sarah: new this morning firefighters in topsfield racing to the rescue after a porch collapse. fire investigators tell us the man got trapped in a ten-foot hole when a screened-in porch collapsed at a home on boston street monday evening. two firefighters were low sweerd the hole to help pull the man out. this morning he's recovering with minor injuries.
